Of all the message areas, this is the one that ham radio operators
don't like to think about -- Silent Keys.
The term "silent key" is for a ham radio operator who has passed away
(died)...and the designation (SK) is usually noted after their callsign.
The monthly publication, QST, from the American Radio Relay League (ARRL),
has 1 to 2 pages each month of these "Silent Keys"...those who are "gone,
but not forgotten". Indeed, the column starts of with these words:
"It is with deep regret, that we record the passing of these amateurs".
Many groups, clubs, etc. have memorials set up for these hams, or use
the callsigns "in memoriam".
Note that I am working on preparing batchfiles for these message areas,
and it may take some time to get these posts going.
Also, since I consider messages over 30 days old to be out of date on
my BBS, these messages are deleted after that point, and reposted once
a month, with new information, when required.
