This message area deals with the technology of D-Star and D-Rats.

Both are "digital modes" with ham radio, with much more communications
possibilities than with the "analog modes".

Access to D-Star can be done with as little as a DV Dongle and the
DV Tool program...to a D-Star HT...to a fancy D-Star Radio. Robin
Cutcliffe, AA4RC, is the developer of DV Tool, available for Windows,
Mac, and Linux systems.

D-Rats is done with the D-Rats program. It allows sending and receiving
of messages (email and regular messages), files (ICS message forms, etc.),
and chat in real time. Originally developed by Dan Smith, KK7DS, it is
currently no longer supported. However, since it is "open source", there
is a possibility that another ham radio operator will pick it up (done
in Python), and work with it.

For a list of selected D-Star or D-Rats Nets, please email me at wx1der
at gmail dot com -- and request the net files. You will need to have the
Adobe Acrobat Reader to view/print the files. At the bottom of the file
are links to nets on CQ100 and Echolink.

Note that I am working on preparing batchfiles for these message areas,
and it may take some time to get these posts going.

Also, since I consider messages over 30 days old to be out of date on
my BBS, these messages are deleted after that point, and reposted once
a month, with new information, when required.
