So, you're using it in a specialized/niche use case.  As he said,
editing the kernel config is NOT "required", as you stated.  On modern,
"normal" hardware, who gives a shit what the "kernel memory size" is?
Even on "legacy/retro" hardware... it works fine, without needing to
compile a custom kernel.
