the fossil "api" isn't incredibly complicated. it somewhat mirrors how the
serial routines would work. i believe the filename is like "fossil.cht.txt"
or similar for a nice chart. you can probably get away with not implementing
quite a bit of it nowadays .. for example baud changes for a virtual fossil
driver probably always respond "success" .. and at some point they tacked on
a bunch of screen writing routines you wouldn't need to learn/use.
