A lot of GPUs have built-in h264 hardware acceleration. I don't know the state of
hardware h264 acceleration, but it's probably much more spotty, particularly if it's
an older laptop. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that your machine just doesn't have any
hardware acceleration for h265
