I am not a Xserver master, but afaik, you need an SSH tunnel with x forwarding
enabled.

Alternatively you could use an VNC solution. If you are just going to use a
couple of graphical applications you are better off with SSH x forwarding
anyway, in my opinion. VNC is basically running a full graphical system on the
server which then streams the graphical session as a video to your workstation.
