FreeBSD is nice. It has always felt like a BSD licensed Linux for me for some
reason, so I don't use it much, though.

I use (mostly) Slackware for workstations and desktops, and OpenBSD for
servers. I'd go with OpenBSD for more workstations if working with removable
media wasn't crude at best with it.

If you are interested in compiling packages en masse, OpenBSD ships by default
with a tool for setting package builder clusters.
