It used to be that as soon as you mentioned cancelling your account,
you'd be transferred to an account retention specialist, a smooth
talking US-based agent who'd "miraculously" find you a special rate.
You'd do that every year when your current promotion ended.

The last time my promotion ended, I said I'd need to cancel if I
couldn't get my bill down to XXX and they said "sorry to see you go".

I told them I needed to speak to someone who knew their account
offerings, got put on hold and someone came back 20 minutes later with a
decent promotion.

I think it's time to move to AT&T Fiber, if anything for symmetric
service (I'm 600/10 here).
