Yea it can be brutal at times. I've lived here long enough now to have gotten as used to it as possible, but it does suck sometimes.

Yep that's the difference between "dry heat" and "humid heat". The "Heat Index" (what it actually feels like) is *FAR* worse with humidity. Same thing as the "wind chill factor" up in snow country.

Yes, I spent a few years near there, in the north Chicago suburbs, while in the Navy long ago. Winters were challenging but the rest of the year was pretty excellent weather-wise.
It's really pretty good here, for part of the year - from November to the end of April it's quite nice.
