The Germans, I strongly suspect, pride themselves on their guilt and self
flagellation. They find a moral supremacy, a virtue, in that they are more
willing to sacrifice to atone for thier sins than others.
I think this is a "White people"
thing, and that Germans are able to do it more strongly than anyone else.
