Back in my C=64 days I set the terminal program to 80 chacters when I began
using a BBS with DOD  and Windows 3.1 users.

Sure mytv screen line length was 40 but if there was some message I wanted to
print out on my 1526/802 printer, I could print all 80  chara on a line .
