Our network was set up roughly around toll areas, which kept it local.
Having gettogethers gave it a more friendly, less flamey feel. Each of
the sysops had a favorite place we'd use for getttogthers, luckily I
lived next door to a house turned coffee/beer/wine/tobacco pub with
lots of outdoor seating.
