Torrente it's obviously a nasty satire about the 'idiotic, rancid,
old-fasioned, tacky and misoginyst Spaniard' everyone mental
and socially sane got repressed in his 'soul' because of the social

The -global- social trait it's called "franquismo sociol�gico",
(sociological Francoism);
that's it, the Francoist's social traits surpassed the end of the
Francoism regime and they affected several generations of
democracy-born people because of the adoctrination of the previous
generations.
That trait affected men and women equally even under Democracy.
Maybe people woudn't be as religious, (Spain it's just Catholic in
name, no one goes there to the church except on weddings and inside
a coffin), but people over 45 got lots of similar bullshit
such as horoscopes.
also, there's a big lack of critical thinking
in lots of social and political news.
Thus, it's not a figure to be admired, but to avoid as much as possible.
He is not a good guy at all. He is macho-figure embracing fascist, hypocrite
illegal drug abuser, (because Francoism forbid illegal drugs, yet he
snorted cocaine...), backstabber, borderline pedophile, mysoginist,
xenophobe up to the point of physically attacking non-Spaniards/non-whites...
