Hard copies are nice for that reason.  Established digital file formats are
also good.  The document scanning program used to make the original file was
mostlikely created to no digital recording standard, if such thing existed.
The program could save as or convert it's paperport format into PDF or TIF,
which is more universally accepted since the mid 1990's
