I have always wondered why it is not mandatory for doctors to provide a
certain amount of pro-bono work like lawyers supposedly do.  I guess you
run the risk of attracting melingerers, but maybe requiring them to work a
day a week at a low-income clinic would be helpful to the populace.

Seems like you sometimes hear stories of the local "country" doctor who did
things for free, but that was probably before malpractice suits became
cost prohibitive.

If they were to come up with programs that teamed with local farm banks, or
farmers, they might even get better food than the other kids do.
