Tariffs are the reasons we buy things from China and other places?  I'm not quite sure I understand.

Ni>> Which existing tariffs, specifically?  Canada has enacted NEW tariffs in
Ni>> response to the tariffs Trump has enacted, and Mexico has done the same.

pa> China's 15% tariff on US cars
pa> India's 60-100% tariff on US vehicles
pa> India's regulations and certification process that stifle American export
pa> China's 8-15% tariff on lumber
pa> Mexico's tariff on steel, pork, cheese
pa> Japan's unique safety and environmental standards that stop US vehicle
pa> imports South Korea's 8% on vehicles (but many US automobiles are exempt
pa> from this because of KORUS, Korea free trade agreement) VAT taxes across
pa> Europe

My understanding is that Trump's new tariffs are only against Mexico, Canada, and China.  If India, Japan, and South Korea have tariffs against the US, why don't we do the same to them?
