Well, in the Usenet you just filtered out people who drained your energy out or who had nothing to contribute. Here you just blaze past their messages :-)
Watching two people argue like teenagers in a qualm that has nothing to do with you is a bit of a waste of time, but I think it s not worse than finding threads you are not interested about in some echo you visit every now and then.
