Purposely made them unhealthy.

Having had to deal with parents and grandparents in nursing homes for many
years, I can say that if you are in a home and no one "checks up" on you, your
care will be much lower than someone who gets a visitor every week.

One of the first things that they did was not allow anyone to visit someone in
the nursing home.

Entering speculation:
And if no one is checking up on these elderly people, no one would find out
that they'd been jabbed or given "different" medications, or not given the
medications that they are supposed to have.
