Indeed.  In this case, I doubt I would have made a headline unless
something bad happened while I was being taken through a rough area.  I
could not even tell you for sure what the racial makeup of that area was.

Ironically, if you were to ask me what one area of my town to avoid, it
would be an area that is very white.  It is also ok during the daytime, at
least as long as you stay on the main drag.  I'd only go there at night if
I was looking to get into a bar fight or to score drugs.
