Many ham radio operators are experimenters, building things themselves, or
modifying gear. Part 97 of the FCC Rules allows hams to do that, and two of the
file areas on the BBS have ham radio rig modification files. While most of the
rigs there are likely no longer in production, you can find many of those at
hamfest flea markets.
