Tim,

k@> I had about the same experience with the corporate RS stores around
k@> here, the only one I ever went to, and still do is the one mentioned,
k@> and I agree with you on straight talk. and it used to be that way with
k@> Virgin Mobile, and thats the only way I would go is prepaid, until
k@> Sprint bought out VM. Then I ended up having to drop them because their
k@> customer service got shotty, and they liked to try to rip you off every
k@> chance they would get.

Sprint did me and my late wife DIRTY years ago. I had to resign my job
due to declining health, and I told them that I could pay EITHER the last
months service OR the disconnect fee, but NOT both. I talked to someone
at their "Customer Service" (I use the term loosely), and they said that
was fine. But, I got a nasty letter, saying I had to pay both after all.

When I went in there, I raised a fit, and said "I would NEVER use Sprint
again, and would tell all my friends to do likewise". For a time, I had
Cingular, which became AT&T...but, the Straight Talk one is the BEST
cellphone provider I've ever had, with a monthly bill around $51.

k@> It's a sad situation that it is that way now. we have a nice Hamfest
k@> here in Dalton every year. thats about the only way to really get all
k@> the stuff you need besides going online. but call me old fashioned, I
k@> like to put my hands on something before purchasing it.

Arkansas is LUCKY to get 6 hamfests a year. The main reason is the same
that so many other hobbies can't put on functions...NOBODY WANTS TO DO
THE WORK. They talk about wanting hamfests, demos, exam sessions, etc.
But, when you ask for workers, etc. -- it's DEAD SILENCE.

I've had people complain about the way I do nets (which I've done since
I was first licensed over 25 years ago), and when I ask if THEY want to do
it, as if they can do a better job, they backpedal. They want the GLORY,
but NOT the GALL of the time and work needed before, during, and after the
net.

In short, it's "put up, or shut up".
