Amateur Radio Callsign Update from the FCC as of Dec. 26, 2018. These
are in "sequential" format, and do not necessarily include "vanity
callsigns".
Data is from the HamData.Com website at www.hamdata.com/fccinfo.html --
so, check that, in case typographical errors are in this message.
In some regions, all the sequential callsigns have been issued, so
other callsign groups are being noted as well. The first 2 entries
for regions 0 through 9 are for Technician or General class licensees
(starting with a K), and then for Amateur Extra Class licensees
(starting with an A).
The regions are noted as per Appendix 2, in Part 97 of the FCC Rules.
NOTE: As per a story in Amateur Radio Newsline Report #2148, the FCC is
operating through Jan. 2, 2019. After that time, until the partial U.S.
government shutdown is ended, there will be no processing of either
new sequential and vanity callsigns, license upgrades, renewals, etc.
Once the shutdown ends, there likely will be quite a backlog of data to
get into the FCC ULS, from the various VEC's. Amateur Radio Operators,
prospective and current, are asked to be patient, due to the delay in
license processing.
Also, if one is near the expiration date of their license, and fails to
renew by Jan. 2, 2019, then they will effectively go QRT...and remain
such until their renewal is processed. And, if one is near the end of
the 2 year grace period after license expiration (they couldn't transmit
during this grace period), and fails to renew by Jan. 2, 2019, then they
will lose their license, privileges, and callsign...and have to take, at
minimum, the Technician Class exam, to get back into ham radio, with a
new callsign. Plus, the CSCE (Certificate Of Successful Completion Of
Examination) is ONLY VALID for 365 days after the date of issuance. No
matter how long the government shutdown lasts, there is NO EXTENSION on
the valid time for the CSCE.
Lastly, eventually, the FCC will no longer accept Social Security Numbers
on an NCVEC Form 605 -- one will have to obtain an FRN from the FCC CORES
website PRIOR to going to a license exam session...or they will NOT be
able to take the license exam.
