2020-08-12 - Long Time Who Dis?
===============================
Hey gophernators!
Been a little while since I posted here, there are three genuine
reasons:
- Summer
- Side Projects
- Factorio
I've been here at home, still avoiding the world. The weather's not
been wonderful this year, but its been good enough to spend a lot
of time sitting in my garden reading. I've been doing a lot of
that, and have managed to finish 10 novels since June. I guess what
I needed to get out of my non-reading rut was just to turn off the
world, and, to a large extent, stop giving a shit about the whole
dumpster fire of the globe. I've not even been much on mastodon or
twitter in the period. Hey, its not like business is exaclty
booming.
Pretty much because I've been reading so much, I developed an itch
that I needed to scratch - tracking my reading properly, and
incorporating my little capsule reviews into the same system as my
tracking one. I dusted off some of my cobwebs, and I wrangled what
i think is a succesful system out of it. In this I was inspired by
what I managed to do in gopher (under Reading in my main gopher
menu) - just focusing on the content, as opposed to fripperies.
While I like the freedom of plaintext, there was so much more I
could achieve in html, just with a little use of css. I'd
appreciate any comments on the site, which can be seen at:

I also decided to get my gopher content into the wider winds of the
Dark Web. If you visit my site, dgold.eu, using tor, you should get
offered my phlog posts over onion.
Finally, and probably in no way at all responsible for my absence
from the online world, I purchased Factorio. When my downtime can't
be outdoors or I can't read for random reasons, I'm playing the
game. I keep tweaking, I keep expanding, I keep making more mad
projects to expand my glorious automated empire.
I've even drafted (but not finished) a deconstructionist analysis
of the themes of the game. Hopefully, more of that anon.
Anyway, that's been me, I've been catching up on the 'verse over
the last few days (using the awesome Kristall browser) and I'm
delighted to see so many wonderful things from so many people.
Until next time
