The famous Carnegie Hall in New York offers a series of three
residencies to the best artists in the world only. The Pavel Haas
Quartet and the Czech Philharmonic will perform at Carnegie Hall in
December as part of the celebration of the Year of Czech Music 2024.
This important cultural week will take place in early December and will
culminate in several concerts showcasing the best of Czech music.
The Czech Philharmonic, under the direction of Principal Conductor
Semyon Byčkov, has prepared three separate programmes for 3, 4 and 5
December 2024 at Carnegie Hall. They will perform a trio of
instrumental concertos by Antonín Dvořák performed by world-renowned
soloists: cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Gil Shaham and pianist Daniil
Trifonov. In addition, Mahler's Fifth Symphony and Janáček's Glagolitic
Mass together with the Prague Philharmonic Choirwill be performed
there. The Prague Philharmonic Choir will also has a separate concert
in New York, performing works by Peter Eben, Leoš Janáček, Antonín
Dvořák and Bohuslav Martinů.
The Pavel Haas Quartet, one of the world's most acclaimed and
award-winning chamber ensembles, will perform on 7 December. Its
program includes works by Czech composers such as Josef Suk, Bedřich
Smetana and Leoš Janáček. This concert is part of a wider programme
celebrating the Year of Czech Music and will showcase the quartet in
all their virtuosity.
These performances are not only a celebration of Czech music, but also
an important opportunity for the Czech Philharmonic and the Pavel Haas
Quartet to present Czech culture on a prestigious international stage.
Performing at Carnegie Hall is a confirmation of world renown for all
artists.
