# On Death and Uncertainty (RE: alexschroeder)
### -=20180606=-

alexschroeder writes[0] about something I know I have thought about before: If you self host then your content dies with you. Here is my take on this: I put some thought into this a while back, and personally, I am okay with my content dying with me. I have my music on archive.org, but my phlog, etc. are meaningless without my existence. My writing is not profound. No new ground is broken. No one past my children's generation will remember me or care.

Perhaps your situation is different. Perhaps your content is a benefit to future generations. Very cool. As for me, my gopherhole is a public facing text dump. I place items that interest me in directories. I do not expect anyone to care now, let alone when I am dead. Sorry.
