Holiday, Fridge, Mom

Chanukka is near, but the customs of the holiday are not what's gonna make
me happy. I am going to be invited to a family gathering to eat donuts and
light candles in the menorah.
I have ordered a fridge and am waiting for it to be delivered to me.
What will make me happy is having that new fridge and seeing that it
works. I hope I can just hide from my parents the fact that I have bought
a fridge. I don't want to reveal the cost of it.
For my mom the holiday is an opportunity to spend time with "all" the
family. I find that need boring. There are other events more important
these days than holidays with the family. One of them is at the Hostages
Square in Tel Aviv on Dec 29, 2024 with my Conservative Jewish community.
I'm going to be there for people who for sure cannot celebrate holidays with
their families.
