This demonstrates that you didn't read my original post at all. :)

I don't call FindFirst/FindNext (not in this app) at all, and the problem is an
entirely different one and it's not in a DOS box at all. The issue is a lower
speed with a compiled Pascal OS/2 program compiled with Virtual Pascal/2,
compared with the same Pascal program as DOS program compiled with Borland
Pascal and the same program implemented in REXX code.
