Fa> FYI, Morse Academy v5.2r (the best Morse teaching programme, in my
Fa> opinion, and for DOS!) maps .-... prosign AS to the @ sign.  I don't
Fa> know if it is just this programme or not.

Morse v2.15 by David R Barker of GHZ Engineering, Holualoa, HI is my
favourite, Fane, and that also map @ as .-...     I presume that it
was simply a matter of assigning a key for the "wait" symbol.  On the
other hand, MorseCat (for Windows) by  DK5CI (which uses the sound
card) does not have the @ key allocated.

DP>  We obviously need one now that @ is again in very common
DP> use.

Fa> I agree.  It would be nice to see an ASCII type standard encompassing
Fa> a LOT of  currently missing symbols that could be internationally
Fa> recognized, beyond local use.  But who decides?  I would say that if
Fa> the ARRL published it in QST, it would be widely accepted.

Might I suggest you approach the ARRL, Fane?  I have e-mailed them
myself but they merely said there was no code sequence for @.  It does
need a few people to ask them in order to set the wheels in motion.

"Oubliette" - If I remember French from my schooldays, that means
"forgetful", but I can't work out its significance.  Maybe it is me
that is suffering from oubliette. Hi!
