I live in the far eastern county about a mile from Interstate 8.

Seven miles west to the nearest gas station, and about 5 miles east to the
nearest town. I sit outside drinking coffee in the mornings during summer
months, and coyotes come to within 40 yards of where I'm sitting. Although
by the time I set the coffee down and pick up the 22 rifle, they've ducked
down the bank into the wash and are gone.

In the evening I sit outside puffing on a cigar, sipping a beer, and jack
rabbits come across the lot to within about 15 or 20 feet of me foraging
in the weeds and grass for roots and stuff.

Its nice not to have a lot of traffic noise, gangs...having to get off the
street before dark...worry about the car parked at the curb...
