Case Western University made me a .edu email address (and heck, a G Suite account) before I've even been formally accepted.
All I did was sign a contract that if they accept me, I wouldn't apply elsewhere...

Is this common? Let me know via email if you've had similar experiences with US colleges. Very generous of them, in my opinion.
