Just like the Audi TTs and the other 4 models of Ferrari, the F50 and the
Carrera GT have identical stats. But, unlike the cars I mentioned the F50
outperforms the Carerra in every way possible. Better acceleration, superior
handling and it’s also around 15-20 MPH quicker on straights.
Now we have the basics out of the way, we can move on to the different racing
modes PGR has to offer.
------------------------------
----- V. QUICK RACE MODE -----
------------------------------
Quick Introduction:
Race through checkpoints against five other cars for a set number of laps. The
only way to progress is to earn at least a Bronze medal in each city at each
skill level. You’ll earn Bronze for finishing Third, Silver for Second and Gold
for First. Your Kudos score is recorded and added to your Total Kudos Score,
but it’ll take pure speed to progress to the next level.*
*taken from PGR manual.
This mode is a simple quick fix of racing on a select few tracks. You also earn
Kudos in this mode with the highest amount earned going onto a high-score list
at the end of the race.
--------------------
----- EASY MODE ----
--------------------
For the entire Quick Race Mode I recommend you use the Mini Cooper S. All your
opponents will be in equal cars so you don’t have to worry about them ripping
you up in their Vipers etc.
San Francisco – Federal Reserve – 1.3 Miles – 2 laps
Pretty simple track, just watch out for a pile up at the first corner and the
last chicane type set of turns before the start/finish line.
London – Big Ben – 1.5 Miles – 2 laps
Very easy track to win. Basically, it’s a slightly warped oval. You shouldn’t
have any trouble here.
Tokyo – Asakusa Challenge – 1.4 Miles – 2 laps
This track can be a pain at times due to some of the sections being quite
narrow, especially the section just before checkpoint 2. Just avoid the pile up
at corner 1 and you should be fine.
New York – Water & Nassau – 1.4 Miles – 2 laps
Another track that is quite narrow, this time between the first corner and
checkpoint 2. You should be first place by the first corner thanks to the large
straight beforehand.
Congratulations, Easy Mode is complete and you have unlocked Medium Mode.
Get a gold medal on every circuit in Easy Mode to unlock the Audi TT Roadster
And Coupe.
----------------------
----- MEDIUM MODE ----
----------------------
San Francisco – Russian Hill Challenge – 1.0 Miles – 3 laps
Another easy circuit. The only remotely difficult part is the hairpin and uphill
sections which are located between checkpoints 1 and 2.
London – Admiralty Arch – 1.0 Miles – 3 laps
This is the first track so far that’ll pose any threat due to the amount of
obstacles plonked in the middle of the road. Pay attention to just after turn
2, as there is a traffic island in the middle of the road on exit. Keep to the
right hand side to avoid it. Look out for the stairs at the end of the
straight after checkpoint 1 and while driving through the Arches.
Tokyo – Shibuya Challenge II – 1.4 Miles – 3 laps
The only difficult thing about this track is knowing where to go. Other than
that, it’s quite easy.
Watch out for the section between checkpoints 1 and 2.
New York – Park Loop Reverse – 1.8 Miles – 3 laps
Just a big oval with a few nasty turns, basically. Namely the roundabout at turn
1, the S-bend at turn 2 and the 90 degree left-hander at turn 3.
Congratulations, Medium Mode is complete and you have unlocked Hard Mode.
Get a gold medal on every circuit to unlock the Chevrolet Camaro SS.
---------------------
----- HARD MODE -----
---------------------
San Francisco – Historic District Challenge – 1.3 Miles – 4 laps
A nice steady incline, followed by a rather harsh downhill section. All of the
turns here are 90 degrees, but the circuit is nice and wide, so negotiating
them isn’t a problem. Watch out for turn 8 which has a huge tree in the middle
of the road just after the exit.
London – St James Park – 2.1 Miles – 4 laps
Sometimes this track can be pretty tricky, with turns 1, 2 and 3 proving to be
extremely tight on entry.
Beware of the epitath in the middle of the road just before turn 8, but if
you’re feeling lucky you can score a nifty two-wheel bonus off of it.
Tokyo – Eki-Mae Hairpin – 1.8 Miles – 4 laps
As the title suggests, there is a rather nasty hairpin towards the end of the
course. Beware of turn 3 as there is a small bump on entry which may throw your
car off-course, and the section just before checkpoint 2 which is quite narrow.
New York – Whitehall To Wall – 2.3 Miles – 4 laps
I love this track. A good blend of tight turns and flowing straights where you
can pick up some serious speed.
The course gets quite tight from checkpoint 1 onwards with a few narrow bends.
Pay attention to the tunnel entrance and take the left side entrance. Beware
of the tunnel exit as it get EXTREMELY narrow here.
Congratulations, Hard Mode is complete and you have unlocked Very Hard Mode.
Get a gold on every circuit to unlock the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7.
--------------------------
----- VERY HARD MODE -----
--------------------------
San Francisco – The Tour – 1.5 Miles – 5 laps
From the starting line up until the hairpin bend just after the first
checkpoint, this circuit is very narrow. Uphill, then into what is probably the
tightest turn in the game. “The Switchback”, which is just after checkpoint 2
is a 180 degree hairpin turn, which is only the width of one car. Downhill
after that, with only one left turn until the finish.
London – Bridge St – 2.1 Miles – 5 laps
The majority of this track is only a car and a half in width, with only the
roundabouts at the end of each straight with any space to overtake. There
aren’t really any particularly tough turns here, so just try to keep your speed
up on the straights, and take a wide line into the roundies.
Tokyo – Koshu Kaido nishi – 1.8 Miles – 5 laps
Even though it’s set during the day, this track is extremely dark with most of
the bends hard to judge. Be wary of turns 3 and 4 (the hairpin) and take a wide
line into the S combo just before the start/finish line.
New York – East To West 40 th – 2.5 Miles – 4 laps
The last, and longest track in Quick Race mode. Nice and wide up until
checkpoint 1, the only turn you need to worry about is turn 9, which may
surprise you as it’s very tight left at the end of a high-speed straight.
Congratulations! You’ve completed Quick Race Mode!
Get a gold on every circuit to unlock the Ferrari F355 Spider and the 355F1.
---------------------------
----- VI. ARCADE MODE -----
---------------------------
Quick Introduction:
Score a minimum number of Performance Kudos as you manouvre through cone gates
while keeping an eye on the clock. The only way to progress is to earn at least
a Bronze medal in each city at each skill level. Good luck, and don’t forget to
use your handbrake on those tight turns.*
*taken from PGR manual.
Fun. This mode is all about performing fancy moves to earn Kudos. Slides, 360s,
as long as it’s an impressive move, you’ll earn your Kudos.

----- VII. KUDOS CHALLENGE MODE -----
-------------------------------------
Quick Introduction:
The Kudos Challenge is the heart of PGR. Test your limits as you race your way
through 12 levels and nine different types of racing challenges. With no
penalties for trying to improve your performance, Kudos Challenge Mode
offers the ultimate pursuit of perfection.*
*taken from PGR manual.
Like it says in the manual, Kudos Challenge is the meat and potatoes of the
game. You complete in various challenges with variying levels of difficulty to
earn Kudos points. All manner of challenges are here waiting to be beaten, I’ll
give you a rundown.
---------------------------
----- CHALLENGE TYPES -----
---------------------------
For any of the nine types of challenges, you can increase the potential number
of Bonus Kudos you can earn by increasing the difficulty level of the challenge
before you start the race. As you progress through Kudos Challenge mode, you’ll
unlock valuable rewards, including cars, Jokers, new tracks, and driver models
as you strive to earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold medals in each challenge.*
*taken from PGR manual.
1. Average Speed
Race against the clock for a specified number of laps while recording your
average speed. The computer will only note down the speed you are going as you
pass the checkpoint, meaning you can do a few extra slides inbetween
checkpoints to boost your Kudos score. Just make sure you are going faster than
the average speed before you cross the checkpoint.
2. Hot Lap
In these types of challenge, all you need to do is beat the time specified to
win. You usually get three laps to do so meaning you can set a good time on
your first lap and concentrate on boosting your Kudos on the remaining two.
Beware though, there is a time limit.
3. Style Challenge
Same as Arcade Mode, you have a set amount of time in which to navigate the cone
gates while pulling off fancy slides etc.
4. One on One
In this challenge, you race against a single opponent. The bigger headstart you
give, the more Bonus Kudos you earn if you win.
5. Overtake Challenge
Here you have to overtake as many opponents as possible in a set amount of
time/laps.
6. Street Race.
A race against 5 opponents over a set amount of laps in which you start dead
last.
7. Timed Run
Your goal here is to complete a set number of laps in a set amount of time.
8. Top speed
With this challenge, you need to record the fastest possible speed within a
Specified time limit.
9. Total Laps
Here you need to determine how many laps of a track you can do within a
specified time limit.
Now you know all about the different types of challenge we can start the Levels
section of this FAQ.
----------------------------------
----- LEVEL 1 – INTRODUCTION -----
----------------------------------
Challenge 1 – Hot Lap – San Francisco – Warehouse Row – 0.6 Miles – 3 laps
Pretty simple start to Kudos Challenge mode, use the Mini and set the time to
around 28.500 seconds which will bag you a silver.
Challenge 2 – Style Challenge – New York – West 45 th – 0.6 Miles – 2 laps
Set the Kudos to 500, which, with the 100 Kudos bonus will be enough for a
silver medal. I recommend coming back to this chalenge when you have a faster
vehicle.
Challenge 3 – Street Race – Tokyo – Tochou Dori Loop – 1.2 Miles – 2 laps.
Set the finishing postiton to first, use the Mini for an easy win and a gold medal.
Challenge 4 – One on One – London – Duke of York – 0.5 Miles – 3 laps
Your opponent here is the BMW Z3. Give him a headstart of 10 seconds and you’ll
catch him easily with the Mini for a silver medal. Beat him and you’ll unlock
the Z3.
Well done, level 1 is complete.
------------------------------------
----- LEVEL 2 – AMATEUR SEASON -----
------------------------------------
Challenge 1 – Hot Lap – Tokyo – Jinnan Loop – 0.7 Miles – 3 laps
If you completed Quick Race Mode before starting this level you should have
The Ferrari F355. Set the time to 29 seconds, which isn’t hard to beat in the
F355.
Challenge 2 – Overtake Challenge – London – Queen Victoria Memorial – 1.15
Very small circuit, but it’s raining heavily. Use the F355 and set the number of
Cars to overtake to 7.
Challenge 3 – Street Race – San Francisco – Beach St – 1.0 Miles – 2 lap
Easy win with the F355. The circuit is very straightforward. No praaaaablem.
Challenge 4 – Street Race – New York – Central Park – 1.1 Miles – 3 laps
Again, this’ll be a breeze with the F355. Turns 1 and 4 are a bit sharp, so
Watch out.
Challenge 5 – One on One – New York – Wall St Tour – 0.6 miles – 3 laps
Your opponent here is the Porsche Boxster S. If you use the F355, you’ll
annihilate him. His 15 second headstart will be enough for you to beat him.
Well done, level 2 complete and the Boxster S is yours.
-----------------------------------
----- LEVEL 3 – SAN FRANCISCO -----
-----------------------------------
Challenge 1 – Hot Lap – The Switchback – 1.0 Miles – 3 laps
Use the F355, set the time to 45 seconds. Be careful of “The Switchback”..
Challenge 2 – Total Laps – Half Block – 0.2 Miles – 1.30
This tiny ovalis quite a pain to negotiate due to the nightime setting.
Set the number of laps to 8 and you’ll pass.
Challenge 3 – Overtake Challenge – Octavia North – 0.5 Miles – 2.00
This oval shaped course starts off with a steep uphill climb, then a very fast
downhill section. Set number of cars at 6 to pass.
Challenge 4 – Street Race – Buchanan St – 1.0 Miles – 2 laps
Easy course, easy win with the F355.
Challenge 5 – Street Race – Ferry Dock – 1.5 Miles – 2 laps
Another easy win, be careful of the S bend beginning at turn 1.
Challenge 6 – One on One – Hyde St – 1.1 Miles – 2 laps
Your opponent here is the Ford Focus Cosworth. Giving him a headstart of 12
seconds should guarantee his defeat with the F355. Be wary of turns 8 and 9
and the hairpin situated just before the start/finish line.
Well done, level 3 complete and the Focus is yours.
----------------------------
----- LEVEL 4 – LONDON -----
----------------------------
Challenge 1 – Timed Run – Downing St – 0.7 Miles – 4 laps
The rain, coupled with the traffic on this challenge make it quite a challenge.
Using the F355, set the time to 2.05 to pass.
Challenge 2 - Hot Lap Average – Waterloo Station – 0.4 Miles – 5 laps
This track is a figure 8 shape (no crossover) with the first section being
A lot tighter than the second. Use the F355, set the average time to 21 seconds.
Challenge 3 – Style Challenge –
Regent St – 1.0 Miles – 2 laps
Use the F355, combo off of the first gate into the first bend, fishtail all
The way down the straight keeping the combo going. Set the total to 900 to pass.
Challenge 4 – Top Speed – Westminister Bridge – 1.1 Miles – 1.30
Use the straight starting just after the first checkpoint to gain a speed
Of around 135mph using the F355. Don’t worry about slowing down for the left
Turn, just smash into the barriers.
Challenge 5 – Street Race – Charing Cross – 0.9 Miles – 3 laps
Easy win on this night-time track. Watch out for turn 1.
Challenge 6 – Street Race – Horse Guards – 1.0 Miles – 4 laps
Another easy win. Watch out for the gravel section just before checkpoint 1.
Challenge 7 – Street Race – Thames Challenge – 1.7 Miles – 3 laps
This course is a little trickier thanks to the 4 main roundabout turns.
Just make sure you slow down in time for them and you’ll be ok.
Well done, level 4 is complete.
---------------------------
----- LEVEL 5 – TOKYO -----
---------------------------
Challenge 1 – Hot Lap – Nishi-Guchi Mae – 0.9 Miles – 3 laps
At night, the only difficult part of this track is the section between
checkpoints 1 and 2. Beware of the hairpin just before 2. Set the time to
40 seconds using the F355.
Challenge 2 – Hot Lap Average – Meiji Dori Loop – 0.8 Miles – 4 laps
Easy track, the only worry is that it’s raining. Also, watch out for turns
1, 2 and 3. Set the average time to 34 seconds.
Challenge 3 – Overtake Challenge – Shibuya Eki Loop – 0.5 Miles – 2.00
As soon as you start this race, turn right and keep right. There’s a shortcut
through the middle of the circuit allowing you to cut 5 seconds off your
Laptime, meaning more cars overtaken. With the F355, I managed to overtake
11 cars, so set your target to 11.
Challenge 4 – Style Challenge – Houzou Mon-Mae – 0.9 Miles – 2 laps
Not too difficult, set your target at 850. This track is narrow in a few
Sections, making it hard to fishtail. Immediately after the second checkpoint
Keep right, as there is a hidden section with a few cone gates.
Challenge 5 – Street Race – Higashi Dori Loop – 0.9 Miles – 4 laps
Easy win here. Watch out for turns 1 and 5.
Challenge 6 – Street Race – Sumida-Gawa Loop – 1.2 Miles – 3 laps
Another easy win, be careful of turn 1 and the sections after checkpoint 1
as it’s extremely narrow and checkpoint 2.
Challenge 7 – Street Race – Koen-Dori Mae – 1.1 Miles – 3 laps
Every single turn on this course is tight, so beware. Other than that, it’s
a simple win.
Challenge 8 – One on One – Taito-Ku Challenge – 0.8 Miles – 4 laps
Your opponent here is the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Again, almost every turn here
Is tight, so take your time and don’t rush into every bend. Giving him a
Headstart of 14 seconds is generous enough for you to still beat him.
Well done, level 5 complete and the Skyline is yours.
*Levels 6 – 12 coming soon*
------------------------------------
