Alien Syndrome is my next FAQ for the Sega Master System Completion Project. It
is a project set up at the FAQ Contributors Board at GameFAQs to give all Sega
Master System games a FAQ. It was started by Masamune3 in the case of the Sega
Master System but there are projects like that for other consoles too.
Sega's super arcade hit comes to life ... on your Sega System! A mysterious
Alien space fleet has invaded human occupied space. Called the Alien Syndrome,
they are the deadliest creatures humankind has ever encountered. The Alien
Syndrome shoots first and asks no questions!
A battalion of your friends attacks the alien fleet. However, they are captured
and held hostage. Earth Command sends one soldier to get them back... You!
You're RICKY, Earth Command Trooper. When it comes to deep space combat, you
are the best. Armed with only a combat rifle, you must infiltrate each Alien
Ship, rescue the hostages, and escape... before a time bomb vaporizes the ship
into cosmic debris.
The odds and the clock are against you. The aliens can appear anywhere... at
any time. So shoot fast and straight. The hostages are depending on you.
[1] [Q]. What are those numbers like [A300] next to the title of every section?
[A] It is the search engine of this FAQ. Press Ctrl and F. Type in the
search code for the section you want to go to. You should be there in
two steps.
[2] [Q]. Does the two player differ from the one player?
[A] No, it just easier to defeat all the enemies.

3.2- Power Ups [A302]
===============================================================================
You collect Power Ups by walking against the wall where the Grey plaque is
present. You lose your different Power Ups when you are killed. You'll have to
watch out that you don't die once you have them because they don't reappear on
the walls.
- ?: This Power Up raises your high score with 200 points. It is better to
collect all of them when you want a high score.
- F: This Power Up will give you the strong Flamethrower Power Up. You're only
getting it in the later levels.
- FB: This Power Up will give you the strong Fire Ball Power Up. There aren't
many places in this level where you can get it.
- L: This Power Up gives you a Laser Beam weapon. You might hit multiple
enemies with it if you aim right.
- W: This will move you to another Place on the field. This can transport you
fast over the playing field. This place is determined.
- N: This Power Up gives you your regular weapon back. It is better not to grab
this when you have a strong weapon.
- S: This Power Up destroys every enemy on the screen. This is very handy when
the room is crowded.
The enemies appear randomly in this game so there is no real point in telling
where they might appear. They can appear anywhere. The only enemies that are
always present are the green faces on the floor. Every description will be made
from top view so if I say 'Go to the Right', you'll have to go to the right of
the television screen. I won't give you the direction to every Power Up either,
as they will be fairly. You get 30 extra seconds for every boss level.
You start on the Calliope in a room without Green Faces but with 306 seconds of
time. Go to the lower corner of the room where you can find the first hostage.
I recommend you to leave the room using the right exit. Go through that room
and continue to the right where you'll find the second hostage. The L Mark on
the wall will give you a Laser.
Go back to the previous room and go down. Take the next route to the right.
Don't use the Warp Route. Go back to the previous room and go down this time.
Go to the right again in the next room. The Fourth Hostage is in the lower
right corner of the playfield. Go as far down as possible and move completely
to the left. You'll find the fifth; if you enter the room on the left, you'll
have six.
Go back out of the room and go up. Briefly go to the right and grab the seventh
hostage. Go back to the left and follow the path until you reach another
hostage. Activate the Warp, which will lead you directly to the exit. You can't
leave yet however.
Grab the Hostage next to the door and walk to the right. There is a tenth
hostage there. Go back to the left to find another hostage, go down from there
to reach the last hostage. Go to the exit and leave this level.

Round 1:
Calliope - Squime Boss
\_____________________________________________________________________________/

This boss has two types of attacks. The first one is three fireballs who
each take a separate direction. He also has a bigger fireball attack. His
eyes will pop out of his head and he'll shoot it straight at you. Quickly
move up to avoid it. The best weapon against him is the Fireball Weapon.
You have to aim at that red zone that is under his head. He'll turn blue
when you done a lot of damage. Don't worry about dieing. He keeps all the
damage you did.
\___________________________________________________________________________/
You have 306 seconds. Grab the hostage in the first room and go to the left.
Take the first route up. Go to the left at the end of the room and go down to
grab the second hostage. Go back up and go to the left. Go down when you reach
the upper left corner of the level and don't forget the hostage. Keep going
down until you reach the lower left corner of the level. There is a hostage in
that room too.
Go back out of the room and go to the right. Take the first route down and
follow the path until you reach the fifth hostage. Go back to the Start Point
and take the first route down. Take the route to the left and the road will
split in two parts. Each part has a hostage. That makes seven hostages if you
have followed this walkthrough. Go back and go to the lower right corner.
There is a hostage too. Go up to find another hostage and go back down. Briefly
go to the left and go up again. Go to the left and take the first route up,
come back down and take the second route up. There you'll find the last hostage
and the exit.

Round 2:
Clio - Aargh Boss
\_____________________________________________________________________________/

This boss has one attack; he shoots three spiked balls at once. He also
has some help from a couple of brown/orange worms. You can't attack him
when those animals are out. You have to kill them first to attack them.
After about ten seconds, the enemies will reappear again. It should take
about twenty-thirty shots to kill him.
\___________________________________________________________________________/
You have 256 seconds for level 3. Go to the left from your starting point. Take
the first railroad like road up and grab the female hostage. Go to the left
once you reach the end of the road and collect a male hostage. Go back to where
the railroad ended and use the tiny green structure on the left of it. Follow
that path and go to the left of it. Walk to the upper left corner and grab the
hostage.
Go down using the railroad you saw on your road to the third hostage and go to
the left. Go up when you can't go further to the left at that height of the
level. Go to the left until you reach the outer wall of the level and go down.
You should find a hostage there. Follow the path further to find another
hostage.
Go back to where two railroads are and go down from there. There is a hostage
there. Go back up and go to the right. Take the next route down. Go to the
right and use the railroad route you see there. There is another female hostage
there. Go back down the railroad, go down a bit, and proceed to the right.
Go up when you reach a wall and take the first route to the right, go back out
and go up again. Take the second route to the right. Take the first route down
after that. Go up again and don't forget the hostage. Take the railroad up
there. Go to the left and immediately go up. Go back down and take the first
route to the right. Go up again and you'll reach the Exit sign.

Round 3:
Erato - Tacapy Boss
\_____________________________________________________________________________/

This enemy looks like a premature life form because it has a couple of
eyes and four fingers. You can only hurt it when you can see its brains.
Those are the red, blue and yellow wormlike structures under his eyes.
When his eyes are gone, you can shoot and hurt him. You also have to
watch out for the worms that come out of the creature's eyes. You don't
have to kill them but it is recommended.
\___________________________________________________________________________/
You have 256 seconds for this level. Grab the hostage that is in the starting
room and go down. Follow the road and you'll find two hostages. Go back up to
the room where you started and go up from that room. There is a hostage there
too. Go back to the start room. The room only has one exit left and you already
have four hostages.
Go to the left from the start point. You'll find another hostage. Advance to
the left and take the first route down. Take the first road to the right. Go
back and take the first road to the left. Go down to grab another hostage. Go
to the left and take the next road down. Go up to the upper left corner of the
level where you'll find another two hostages in the area.
Go down again and take the first road to the right. Go briefly up and go right
again. Take the first route up to find another hostage, come back down, and
take the second route up. Grab the last hostage in the lower left corner of the
room and use the exit.

Round 4:
Euterpe - Masher Boss
\_____________________________________________________________________________/

This boss looks like a giant spider. He has three attacks. He can shoot
multiple fireballs at once like the other bosses and he releases worms.
He also attacks you by touching you. He can do that very easy due to his
speed. He has only one weak spot, the area underneath his head. You just
have to stand underneath him and keep shooting. Lure him to the top of
the screen is he at the bottom of the screen.
\___________________________________________________________________________/
You have 206 seconds in this level. Go to the left and take the hostage. Go up
and go to the left. Grab the hostage and advance. Take the first route up.
Follow that path until you have collected three more hostages. Go back down and
take the first route to the left. Follow that path. There is a Warp next to the
second hostage, use it.
Briefly go to the right and go down immediately. Go back up and take the route
to the right. Take the first route up and grab the hostage on that path. Go
back down and take the second route up too, that path also contains a hostage.
Go down and take the second route to the left. Go further down and take the
second route to the left again. Take the first route down and grab the hostage.
Go up and take the route to the right. Go down at the next crossroads. Take the
first route to the right. Grab the hostage by going down a bit and follow the
path to the end by going up at that point.

Round 5:
Melpomene - Haggah Boss
\_____________________________________________________________________________/

This boss doesn't move a lot and only has two attacks. One of them is to
shoot three fireballs at you like every other boss and the other is a big
fireball that is fired straight ahead. You can stay at the bottom of the
screen and move a bit to the left so that you avoid everyone of his
attacks which makes this fight too easy. I stood there for thirty seconds
shooting at him without moving and 5 Giant Fireball and 10 Regular
fireball attacks from him missed me. You only have to hit that hole
beneath his face.
\___________________________________________________________________________/
You have 206 seconds for this level. This level doesn't have a very difficult
setup, as you will just be following the walls most of the time. Go to the
right and look to find the first hostage there. Go back and take the first
route up. Grab the hostages; there are two of them in a short time span on the
left side of the hall. Go to the wall on the right and follow that for now.
That means you have to go to the right and end up in a long 'hall' with two
hostages but only one entrance/exit. Go back out of the hall and go up. You'll
have to walk for a long time without seeing any side streets. When you do
finally reach a crossroads, go down, and grab the hostage.
Go back up and take the first route to the left. Go down and go to the left.
Take the next road up and you'll enter a room with three hostages. Go back out
of it. Grab the hostage in the bottom left corner of the room and advance to
the left. Stay close to the wall where you found that hostage, just stay next
to that wall and you'll find all remaining hostages and the Exit.

Round 6:
Thalia - Minosar Boss
\_____________________________________________________________________________/

This boss uses triple fireballs attack like all the other bosses. He also
has a Laser in his green face that he will use at certain moments. You
have to hit his green face. The best place to do this is from underneath
and to try and hit his cheeks.
\___________________________________________________________________________/
You have 206 seconds to defeat this level but it only contains a boss so it
isn't hard to play through it.

/ \
Round 7:
Urania - Mr. Mimi
\_____________________________________________________________________________/

This giant head boss shoots three Shurikens from his mouth every time he
opens it. He can also extend his ears and shoot two fireballs from there.
You'll have to wait till he fires his Shurikens, quickly shoots into his
mouth while it is open and move out of the way of the Shurikens and the
Fireballs.
