This tool was based on my own collection of Saturn games
and the fantastic "The List of All Japanese Sega Saturn
Game Products (Version 2.2)" by kinsukeJP. This list was
achieved thanks to the tremendous work of kinsukeJP and
should be used as a reference by all Segasaturn fans. My
guide is a sort of compendium to his work.

Introduction
~
This guide aims at giving a better understanding and
knowledge of game tags.
What I (and several other people :) refer to as a "tag"
is the identification number of the game. Most of the
time you can see this tag on the side of the CD case.
Of what f***ing use could it be ?, some of you might ask
yourselves.
I'd say the biggest help might come when you try to buy
a japanese game and you can't manage to read the name
of it. But I'm pretty sure others will find many uses to
it. Or at least I hope so °_°
Tags are organized and given by Sega to licensed first,
second and third party editors. There are 4 different
types of tags known.
("?" is to be replaced by a 0 to 9 digit)
------------------
GS-????
One of the two common tag types.
Games with this tag are games edited by Sega.
From what I know they all start with either GS-7 or GS-9
and the 3 last digits identify the game.
ex: GS-9189 = Deep Fear
There is ONE exception to all this. But we'll get to it
later.
------------------
T-????G
The other common tag type.
Games with this tag are games edited by other companies.
The digits ID goes as follow:
T - ?? ?? G
/ \
/ \
/ \
This is the editor_/ \__This is the game's ID.
's ID. Therefore A same game can have
all games starting several tags because of
with T-19.. come limited or 2nd editions,
from the same one. or when bundled with a
ex: T-12.. games peripheral.
are all edited by
Capcom.
Two important precisions :
#1/The Segasaturn being a quite successful hardware in
Japan, there has been a lot of editors releasing
games on it. Therefore the 2 digits for editor's ID
quickly reached their limit, and some editors have a
three digits ID.
ex: Ving's editor's ID is T-199 and Ving's "Elevator
Action Returns" is tagged T19903G.
Because no 3rd party editor has released more than 99
games, there is no 6 digits (3 for the editors ID and
3 for the game's ID) T-????G tags.
#2/You must note that the Tag reveals the editor's ID,
but not the Developer/producers'ID. It can of course
be the same, but not necessarly.
ex1: T-15027g was developped by Gust and T-15019g by
Genki. Both games were edited by Imagineer.
ex2: RED developped both GS-9169 (edited by Sega) and
T-14301G (edited by Hudson). Yet RED also have their
own tag : T-326 ! Picky, isn't it ?
------------------
Special "T-????G"s
1/ T-????G (VS???-J1)
The editor Konami has always kept a personal track of
its released games by giving a tag to each of its game.
Therefore all Konami games have, somewhere on the back
cover and sometimes on the side, the Konami specific tag.
When it is on the side you can see it has shown
T-95??G (VS???-J1)
/ \
/ \
Sega official tag Konami tag
(with Konami's ID)
Konami Tags always start with "VS" when released on this
hardware (e.g. on PlayStation they start with "VX").
ex: you can clearly see both tags on the side of their
"Akumajo Dracula X Gekka No Yassoukyoku". It's T-9527G
(VS010-J1).
2/ T-????G-T
General Entertainment's Game-Ware series which proposed
interviews, game demos and so on. Two of them (vol.1
and vol.3) had a special"-T" mark added to their tag.
ex: Game-Ware = T-17002G-T
-----------------
???-????
A limited number of CDs have a 7 digits ID, with no
letters. This kind of Tag applies to special and/or
demo and/or not-for-sale discs, such as "Shining Force
III - Premium Disc" (610-6979) or "Christmas Nights"
(610-6431).
Also note that some discs (such as the bonus mini music
disc offered in "Burning Rangers") have both the actual
game's ID (here GS-9174) and a specific 7 digits tag
(here 670-12696).
-----------------
*nothing*
A _very_ limited number of games have no tag at all.
This might be due to, simply, a mistake. This applies to
the "Virtua Cop 1/2" Pack. Note that on their release
they both had a specific "GS" tag.
I didn't count this as a specific Tag, that's why I only
counted 4 types of Tag whereas you could say there're 4.
Whatever.

TAG TOOL
~
Here comes the tag tool. My goal is of course to propose
the most exhaustive lists possible, so please help me if
you have information on some mistakes or holes in any of
my lists.
4 lists are gathered in this document :
- A "Sega games list" to check all "GS" tagged games.
- an "all editors list" to quickly find one editor's tag
number (this includes Konami "T-G" tagged games).
- an "all editors complete game list" which will simply
organize every single SegaSaturn game, except for...
- ...those that will appear in the "Zembu list", which
will gather all "7 digits" tagged games, non-tagged
games and other oddities.
To find a game according to alphabetical order, please
refer to kinsukejp's "The List of All Japanese Sega
Saturn Game Products" <- Saturnfan's best companion ^_^
To make this guide more comfortable, I followed the same
system as kinsukejp in terms of game's name :
"The titles are written as similar as products.
Notice1;Capital letter and small letter are mixed, but
this is depended on the product (If JP text only, it's
written as Abcd...). Notice2;"HATSUKOI MONOGATARI" is
misprinted as "HATUSKOI MONOGATARI" on the products. On
this list, it's written as "HATUSKOI..."
Hope you get the deal...
About the editor's list :
Due to the too exhaustive (!) data I have access to, I
had to make some choices on who I designated as the main
editor. (for example with all the ESP affiliated game
companies). And some affiliated companies (like Victor's
"Pack-in-Soft") have been rattached to their group.
If you don't find one editor on the list, try any other
name you see on the game's box or contact me.
NOTE ON HOLES :
There are a few holes in my games'lists. Most of the
holes only concern one tag, bug sometimes it's 2, 3 or 4
tags in a row that I missed ! I've no clue whether each
hole is :
1/a game missing in the list
2/a game licensed by Sega but finally canceled
3/just a damn hole because people at Sega can't count.
/Nota/
[SK] = "satakore"
[ltd] = limited edition
[R] = 2nd edition
[RAM] = bundle with a RAM cartridge
[Mis] = bundle with the Mission Stick
[Alg] = bundle with the analog Pad
Here we go !

The "T-33101G" incident:
Sega published, for an unknown reason (to me, that is),
one of their games, "Shining the Holy Ark", with the Tag
"T-33101G". The game was developed by one of their teams
named "Sonic! Software Planning", and it seems that this
is the only game in that case. If you have any info on
the reason of such a weird tagging, please contact me !
Edit - Just thought of this :As the company "Camelot"
worked on the game, it might be Camelot's never-to-be
Tag ID :)

(*)those tags were allowed to companies that already had
one. The fact that they had a new Tag implies they
certainly either changed their contract with Sega or
the intern structure of their company, which forced
them to renegociate. Or something else... errr... ok
let's just leave it to the the fact that some have 2.
(**)The first game was published under the name "Mizuki"
then the rest by Spike.

Editor Tag (end)
--------------------------------------------------------
(*) T-188 : The first game was published under the name
"Mizuki", then the rest by Spike.
(**) in the case of Victor, the Company has never been
really embarrased to publish their games under different
companies with a same tag, and vice versa. Therefore the
tags T-60 and T-91 are shared between "Pack-in-Soft",
"Victor Entertainment" & "Victor Interactive Software".

This chapter of the guide is your space. If you have any
question, suggestion, topic starter about saturn games
and collection, mail it to me ! The mail, if interesting
enough for more people to read it, will be integrated in
the next update. It will basically also serve as a FAQ.

Thanks and last words

I hope this proved to be useful to the biggest number of
saturnfans. No work is perfect so feel free to correct
or precize any blur spot in my guide.
I thank all the people that supported and helped me for
so long.
Lots of kudos for Kinsukejp's work which heavily helped
me and later influenced and served as a reference for
the creation of the "Saturn Tag Tool".
Extra thanks to www.neogeofans.com's "Akumajo" who, when
those lines were being written, helped me to finally get
a hand on a HiSaturn GameNavi. Thanks again 'Majo !!!
And...
.thank YOU for reading that pile of crap ^_^
