3. Gameplay
===========
This game is strange. Really strange. That's mostly why it's so awesome and I
love it so much, but really strange. Based on the hit (?) manga Boboboubo
Boubobo serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, Boboboubo Boubobo Hajike Matsuri is
about the main character, Boubobo, who uses his nosehairs to attack his enemies.
Yeah. His nosehairs. Each stage is split into two parts, the actual level and
the boss fight. In either part, if your rating gets down to 0%, your game is
over.
Level
-----
During the level you're on a track walking (dancing?) towards the camera. Bad
guys jump out from both sides and you use the left and right analog sticks to
control your left and right nosehairs. If you get into a little trouble, hit R1
and L1 at the same time and your nosehairs will go crazy killing everything on
the screen.
Sometimes there's a box or a rock or something on the side of the road, if you
smash it up a couple times it'll open up and you'll either get another bomb
(used in the R1+L1 attacks), or someone (usually Heppokomaru or Pachi) will come
out and dance behind you.
If you get 70% rating meter, you dance changes a little and your meter starts to
flash.
If you get a 100% rating meter during the level, crazy colours start to fly and
you get a free-for-all nose hair festival of beating up bad guys.
Boss
----
At the boss stage your goal is to get the boss' meter up to 100%. You do this by
pointing the analog sticks in the direction the arrows point. Like two arrows
will show up on the screen, say they're left and up-right. You press the left
stick left, and the right stick up-right.
If you do a bunch of the quick arrows the focus will switch to the actual hit
part. You do the same thing, but you'll take life off (on?) the boss. It's kinda
like Samba de Amigo freezes. If you miss one, you go back to doing the quick
arrows for a bit. You can do up to six of the hit arrows in a row if you keep
getting them right, but then you have to go back to the quick arrows.
It's a lot easier to do the quick arrows if you do them individually. Do the
left one, then the right one. It's easier than trying to register both at the
same time so quickly. Save it for the hit arrows.
