Version 1.30 - Fixed what I'm going to hope are all my spelling errors (And
added the man who found them all to my special thanks section).
Various edits, have corrected and added many seperate comments
on Plasmids that were missing, more to the TK debate, and a new
section dealing with Future Updates I want to do.
Version 1.21 - More corrections, very important paragraph on ADAM consumption
by shadowsdieaway, added names to special thanks section
Version 1.20 - I'm creating a section for Telekinesis Debate because my rating
seems to be garnering alot of attention. Also some minor text
cleanups, including making the plasmid section Alphabetical.
Version 1.12 - Many people seemed to be having trouble with my E-mail! I
have no clue what the problem was, but it seems to be working
now. If you're are still having problems with my E-mail please
message my gamertag.

This section is going to function as my "To Do" list. Things I've wanted to do
since starting this FAQ, as well as things suggested to me by others.
- List Tonics by Overall Location (I.E. Fort Frolic section)
- Create a Combo section, outlining the best Tonic/Plasmid combination use.
(I need some suggestions for this! Please feel free to e-mail me about it)
- Create a "Vs. Enemy" section, showing effective ways to kill enemies

[-1.0-] Introduction
______________________________________________________________________________
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
This FAQ was created using the Xbox 360 version of Bioshock, however it can be
used with the PC version as well, as the locations of all of the Plasmids and
Tonics are identical.
This is my first FAQ.
This FAQ is in Alphabetical Order.
This Plasmids and Tonics FAQ contains 5 categories for each Plasmid, and 4 for
each Tonic.
Plasmid
Cost: Cost of the item. (NOTE: Cost goes down over time. If you don't purchase
something at the first Gatherers Site it becomes available, it will be cheaper
at the next one, and disappear when it becomes obsolete
(I.E. The Gatherer site AFTER Electro Bolt 3 becomes available, you won't see
Electro Bolt 2 anymore)
Location: The general location or Gatherers Garden where it first becomes
available
Use Against: What this plasmid can be used against in a fight.
Rating: My personal rating on the Plasmid's STAND ALONE effects
Comments: My personal comments on the Plasmid
Tonic
Cost: Cost of the item. (NOTE: Cost goes down over time. If you don't purchase
something at the first Gatherers Site it becomes available, it may be cheaper
at the next one.)
Location: The general location or Gatherers Garden where it first becomes
available
Rating: My personal rating on the Tonic's effects
Comments: My personal comments on the Tonic
Heres some important information that I forgot to hit on while writing this
guide, luckily shadowsdieaway was writing the same guide at the time and
caught this.
shadowsdieaway
-------
"In order to get the Tonic Collector achievement, you MUST save all 18 Little
Sisters. Also, if you save all of the Little Sisters, and buy every tonic
you see, you won't have enough ADAM to get all of the tonics from the
Gatherer's Gardens if you also get the Eve and Health upgrades. So make sure
you don't get one or two of either of those upgrades. And as a tip for
conserving some ADAM, for the plasmids: getting plasmids doesn't go towards
an achievement, so instead of getting say, insect swarms 1 and 2, you can
just get insect swarm later in the game and it will replace numbers 1 and 2,
saving you 140 ADAM.
And lastly, if you find you are missing one from this guide, for example
"Nutrition Boost" but it isn't in a Gatherer's Garden where you are, then
you'll have to go back to an earlier level such as Neptune's Bounty as the
earlier tonics do not appear in later levels."

[-2.0-] Plasmids
______________________________________________________________________________
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Plasmids are Bioshock's form of active attack and defense and are essential
for your survival in Rapture. Each plasmid has their place in the
game, and can be incorporated in numerous ways these ratings are based on the
STAND ALONE effects of the Plasmids. While you may disagree with the
usefulness I've listed here I'm just going on personal experience alone.
Cyclone Trap 1
Cost: 60
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Tea Garden
Use Against: Splicers (All Types)
Rating: 2/5
Comments: More of a novelty power, this Plasmid launches Splicers high up
into the air and really shows off those ragdoll physics.
Great for setting up traps..However usually, its not worth the trouble of
pulling it out for use. I can only recommend it if you enjoy setting traps
for enemies, but for raw combat, this takes the sidelines.
Cyclone Trap 2
Cost: 80
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Hephestus Core
Use Against: Splicers (All Types)
Rating: 2/5
Comments: Again, novelty power, this time it just does more damage to the
Splicers it comes in contact with.
Electro Bolt 1
Cost: <None>
Location: During the Introduction in Lounge Area
Use Against: All Enemies
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: In my opinion, one of the best Plasmids in the game. Electro Bolt is
absolutely essential in your arsenal at all times. The ability to stun and
paralyze any enemy, even for a split second, can mean the difference between
life and death in many situations. Through out my entire play through I never
dropped Electro Bolt from my Plasmid setup and used it constantly to both
attack enemies and disable/hack the electronic enemies of the game.
Electro Bolt 2
Cost: 120
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Tea Garden
Use Against: All Enemies
Rating: 4/5
Comments: A more powerful form of Electro Bolt, purchase when you feel like
your paralysis isn't lasting long enough. I actually put off purchasing this
my second run through the game and ended up just skipping this plasmid and
purchased Rank 3 when it became available.
Electro Bolt 3
Cost: 150
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Hephestus Core
Use Against: All Enemies
Rating: 5/5
Comments: Longest lasting paralysis, and consequently the most effective.
Buy as soon as it becomes available and never look back. By far the best
support plasmid in the game.
Enrage
Cost: 80
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Lounge
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 1/5
Comments: The use of this Plasmid is a combination of EVE draining,
pointless, and possibly life threatening if you don't pay attention.
Enrage causes a slicer to go crazy and attack a nearby enemy other than you
quite aggressively..Problem is, if there are no other enemies around he just
attacks YOU more aggressively. Overall, due to a distinct lack of grouped
Splicers early on, and so many better powers later on, only pick up Enrage if
you like wasting your Adam or creating funny situations.
Hypnotize Big Daddy 1
Cost: <None>
Location: Gatherers Garden in Lower Wharf
(Only if you rescue Little Sisters)
Use Against: Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: A great power for ammo-less or lazy situations, using this power
will trick a Big Daddy into following you around and attacking what attacks
you, and also what you attack. This makes him quite a deadly force, just
be careful not to hit him with some friendly fire, all you'll succeed in
doing there is making him very, very hostile.
Hypnotize Big Daddy 2
Cost: <None>
Location: Gatherers Garden in Fort Frolic
(Only if you rescue Little Sisters)
Use Against: Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: The exact same rules and principles apply, only it lasts a bit
longer. I feel it lasts quite awhile to begin with, but since the powerup is
free, why not take it?
Incinerate! 1
Cost: <None>
Location: Eternal Flame Crematorium (Upstairs)
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Fun with fire, very effective power if you choose to stack your
attacks (The more you use, the hotter it gets). Whittles away Splicer health
in no time at all, and can provide that extra boost during a Big Daddy fight
to push him over the edge. Highly recommended power.
Incinerate! 2
Cost: 100
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Fort Frolic
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 4/5
Comments: If you're intent on using this Plasmid throughout the game,
be sure to upgrade as soon as the next rank becomes available, otherwise
there will be a significant damage difference and it will become very useless
very fast.
Incinerate! 3
Cost: 150
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Olympus Heights
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: Again, if you're addicted to this Plasmid purchase this as soon
as you possibly can, as the damage difference if you don't will be
significant enough to make it useless.
Insect Swarm 1
Cost: 60
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Silverwing Apiary
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: Great power for mass attacking, Insect Swarm is good for creating a
distraction and buying yourself some time in a high pressure situation.
Insect Swarm can be stacked multiple times for minor damage
(And some hilarious flailing), however in one on one situations I can't
recommend it as the damage isn't significant and the effect is minor. Another
note about Insect Swarm, It CAN GO THROUGH WALLS AND UP STAIRS. It has been
confirmed by me that aggro can occur through walls and up stairs when you use
this Plasmid. Be very careful.
Insect Swarm 2
Cost: 80
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Fort Frolic
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: Just like other plasmids, if you intend on continuing to use this
power throughout the game, you must upgrade when it becomes available to
keep the damage consistent with enemy health.
Insect Swarm 3
Cost: 120
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden In Olympus Heights
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: Keep upgrading it if you intend on using it. By the time this
becomes available you should know which Plasmids you're comfortable with
using and can make the educated purchase.
Target Dummy
Cost: 60
Location (First Available): Gatherers Garden in Lower Wharf
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (All Types)
Rating: 3/5
Comments: A decent, yet not superior power, Target Dummy is good for getting
out of a tight situation, or distracting a Splicer. Also great for setting
traps..However the EVE consumption is annoying. Use when you need a quick
getaway or are setting a trap. It should also be noted that if you use this
Plasmid to distract a Turret, it then becomes hackable for the duration of
the Plasmid.
Telekinesis
Cost: <None>
Location: Painless Dental
Use Against: Moveable Objects
Rating: 2/5
Comments: -See Debate Section-
Security Bullseye
Cost: <None>
Location: Upper Wharf (Right after you acquire the Research Camera)
Use Against: Splicers (All Types), Big Daddys (Both Types)
Rating: 1/5
Comments: Another incredibly useless power, only rivaled by Enrage in its
situational context, Security Bullseye is designed to be tossed at enemies
with security devices in view. If the situation arises and you happen to have
this in your arsenal, by all means toss away. Otherwise, keep this one in
your Gene Bank, its best used as a space filler there.
Winter Blast 1
Cost: 80
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden Lower Wharf
Use Against: All Enemies
Rating: 2.5/5
Comments: While being very entertaining to use, practical use of Winter Blast
when it first becomes available isn't exactly viable. Winter Blast does two
things, suck up EVE and freeze the enemy. Now sucking up EVE obviously isn't
great, however freezing the enemy may seem better than it actually is. While
you do lock them up, if you shatter them you don't get to loot their corpse.
When this first becomes available, looting corpses will still be essential,
so I can't recommend bothering with it. It should also be noted that if you
freeze an electronic device with Winter Blast, it slows down the liquid during
the hacking minigame, making hacking easier at the cost of EVE.
Winter Blast 2
Cost: 100
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Fort Frolic
Use Against: All Enemies
Rating: 2.5/5
Comments: The freeze lasts longer, however, still not great when this becomes
available, the amount of EVE it sucks up, and the ever present
freezing/no corpse looting issue makes it a tough Plasmid to recommend.
Winter Blast 3
Cost: 150
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Olympus Heights
Use Against: All Enemies
Rating: 3/5
Comments: The third rank of Winter Blast sucks up the same amount of EVE,
but lasts longer. During late game if you can afford the Adam, this is a
great way to dispose of Nitro Splicers and Spider Slicers now that their
health has jumped up a little bit.

______________________________________________________________________________
[-2.1-] Telekinesis Debate
______________________________________________________________________________
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
I've been getting a lot of E-mails about the low rating on Telekinesis, and so
I feel it deserves its own section for me to explain why I don't think it's
that stellar of a combat power, I'm going to address each issue I've received
about Telekinsis individually here.
1. "You can catch anything and hurl it back at the enemy"
This is completely true and could be useful, except that you could also be
dodging the object and lighting the enemy on fire, electrifying him,
shooting, or even wrenching him. I'd rather be killing the enemy then
waiting for him to toss something at me.
2. "You can hurl debris, including fallen corpses"
Sure, but in a combat situation I don't wanna take the extra 2 or 3 seconds
to target and throw an enemy corpse or random rock at an enemy and risk
getting hit.
3. "You can get in at least six throws on a single bar of pre-upgraded EVE"
Now I don't know about the rest of you, but in my personal experience I have
NEVER had an EVE problem (Even on Hard), especially using EVE-Link not using
Telekinesis. (Except where you need to use it).
4. "There are also some loot items that you cannot retrieve without using the
Telekinesis ability"
This is true and a completely valid argument for having TK in your inventory,
which is one reason I gave it a 1.5 instead of a 1.
5. "I found another important use of it was removing Trap Bolts"
A fact I completely ommited during my first writing on this FAQ, and I have to
say the only thing that has convinced me to raise Teliknesis to a 2 instead of
a 1.5, as this is an exceptionally useful way to use this power.
One thing I would also like to note, as the last commenter was playing on the
PC. I do NOT own Bioshock on the PC (Only on the 360), however I DO own Half
Life 2, and know of the gravity guns immense usefulness. The experience using
TK with control sticks is much, much different on the console due to inherent
inaccuracies and acceleration/sensitivity. I could see how it would be much,
more useful with a mouse in hand, but my opinion using the 360 controller
stands.
Finally, this power is nothing new and exciting to me, and that more than
likely did have some influence on how I rated it. I believe it is becoming
one of those new "Overuse this concept" problems, much like Bullet Time back
in the Max Payne days.

Armored Shell
Cost: 40
Location (First Available): Gatherers Garden in Lounge
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Great Early Game tonic, I highly recommend purchasing this as soon
as it becomes available. Less First Aid Kit use, less money spent!
Armored Shell 2
Cost: <None>
Location: Gatherers Garden in Olympus Heights
(Only if you save Little Sisters)
Rating: 4/5
Comments: An upgrade, this is great for damage reduction..Every little bit
helps!
Damage Research
Cost: <None>
Location: Lower Workshops (In Kyburz's Lab)
Rating: 5/5
Comments: If you're a research maniac (Like I am), this is going to be
one of the best tonics you will possess. More damage to EVERYTHING.
Damage Research 2
Cost: <None>
Location: Mendel Family Library near Big Daddy Boots
Rating: 5/5
Comments: An upgrade, this is insanely good for damage addition, even
though you get it so late in the game it's worth it's slot.
Electric Flesh
Cost: <None>
Location: Projection Booth in Fort Frolic
(After you finish Cohen's Masterpeice..In the room where he was)
Rating: 2/5
Comments: Electric Flesh isn't very useful when you first acquire it.
By the time it becomes useful you'll more than likely already posess its
upgrade.
Electric Flesh 2
Cost: <None>
Location: Fontaine's Apartment, Top Floor on a Desk
Rating: 3/5
Comments: Great for reducing damage from late game Splicers, who begin to
electrify their pipes.
Frozen Field
Cost: <None>
Location: On the Corpse of Martin Finnegan in Fort Frolic, Frozen Tunnel
Rating: 2.5/5
Comments: I have a love/hate relationship with the freezing physics in this
game. On one hand, you stop them from attacking you..On the other hand, you
don't get their corpse. This just makes it all the more random however.
Use only if you don't mind losing items from enemy corpses.
Frozen Field 2
Cost: <None>
Location: Central Control (Up the stairs on the right in a little room)
Rating: 2.5/5
Comments: An upgrade, makes the freezing even more frequent.
You'll get it later in the game but again, loot vs not being attacked. Take
your pick.
Human Inferno
Cost: 20
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Tea Garden
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: An awesome power to supercharge your fire based attacks,
I highly recommend this if you intend on setting enemies ablaze throughout
the game.
Human Inferno 2
Cost: 50
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Point Prometheus
Rating: 4/5
Comments: An upgrade, even MORE powerful than the original,
flames become your main mode of attack once you get this tonic installed.
Photographers Eye
Cost: <None>
Location: In a small alcove in Winery Cellar Bottom Floor
Rating: 2/5
Comments: Helps you fill your research bar faster. Decent if you're not
a research junkie like myself, however its entirely possible (And
likely if you take tons of pictures), to get this tonic's upgrade way
before you get the original.
Photographers Eye 2
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the second research bar on "Rosie"
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Helps you fill your research bars even faster then its predecessor,
once you acquire this researching will be a breeze.
Static Discharge
Cost: 20
Location: Surgical Foyer (Free) OR Gatherer Site (Lower Wharf)
Rating: 4/5
Comments: A must for Wrench abusers, this tonic sends out an electric
shock every time you get hit with a melee attack, stunning and harming all
enemies around you..What's not to love? A word of caution, if you're around a
Big Daddy and get struck with a melee attack, this CAN cause it to become
aggressive and attack, so fight smart when you have this equipped.
Static Discharge 2
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the fourth research bar on "Leadhead Splicers"
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: An upgrade, this tonic is exceptionally effective against all sorts
of enemies. A word of caution, if you're around a Big Daddy and get struck
with a melee attack, this CAN cause it to become aggressive and attack,
so fight smart when you have this equipped.
Wrench Jockey
Cost: <None>
Location: Painless Dental
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Allows you to inflict some serious wrenchy death, I highly suggest
this power if you love conserving ammo and just using the wrench. More damage
is always great.
Wrench Jockey 2
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the second research bar on "Bouncer"
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: Even MORE wrench damage, and it's easy to acquire. Highly
recommended for wrench users.
Wrench Lurker
Cost: <None>
Location: Right Next to the Gatherers Garden in Lower Wharf AFTER you take
the three "Spider Slicer" pictures
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: Muffles your footsteps and adds a large amount of wrench damage,
but only if your enemy hasn't detected you. Move slow and sneak up behind
your enemies to get the maximum damage potential.
Wrench Lurker 2
Cost: 50
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Hephestus Core
Rating: 3.5/5
Comment: Further silences your footsteps and adds more wrench damage,
but only if your enemy hasn't detected you. You can move a bit faster with
this tonic, but you'll still need to move generally slow to maximize damage
potential.

Clever Inventor
Cost: <None>

Awesome, equip as soon as you get it for easier inventing.
Focused Hacker
Cost: <None>

Only use this if you're having serious problems hacking the machines around
you.
Hacking Expert
Cost: <None>

slot to fill, this reduces OVERLOAD and ALARM tiles by one each.
Hacking Expert 2
Cost: 50
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Fort Frolic
Rating: 2.5/5
Comments: The balanced version of hacking tonics, if you have an engineering
slot to fill, this reduces OVERLOAD and ALARM tiles by two each.
Prolific Inventor
Cost: <None>
Location: Gatherers Garden in Apollo Square
(Only if you save Little Sisters)
Rating: 5/5
Comments: Doubles the amount of items you create while inventing.
Highly recommend this as it helps you get more bang for your components.
Safecracker
Cost: <None>
Location: Teddy Bear at Gatherers Garden in Tea Garden
(Only if you Save Little Sisters)
Rating: 1/5
Comments: The amount of safes in this game is minimal and early game,
they're easy to open. Late game you'll more than likely have a supply of
Autohacking tools to open the particularly difficult safes. I can't recommend
this power at all.
Safecracker 2
Cost: <None>
Location: In the back of Little Wonders, behind the wall with the security
camera on it
Rating: 1/5
Comments: By this time safes should be generally non-issue. This is a waste
of an Engineering slot.
Security Expert
Cost: <None>
Location: Twilight Fields
Rating: 1.5/5
Comments: This tonic slows down the flow during the hacking of Bots, Turrets,
and Cameras. It loses its staying power as you research Turrets and
Bots. Good until then, but once you have your research up you will no longer
need this tonic.
Security Expert 2
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the third research bar on "Security Bot"
Rating: 1.5/5
Comments: One more research rank after you get this tonic and you no longer
NEED to play the hacking game on security bots. Can't recommend this at all.
Shorten Alarms
Cost: 20
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Tea Garden
Rating: 3/5
Comments: Great power if you accidentally get caught by a camera,
shorten alarms shortens the overall time the security alarm goes off.
Good filler for Engineering Slots if you have nothing better to put in there.
Shorten Alarms 2
Cost: <None>
Location: Geothermal Control, Bottom Floor
Rating: 3/5
Comments: Further shortens security alarms, like its predecessor its great
for when you get caught by an camera and a good filler tonic.
Speedy Hacker
Cost: <None>
Location: Painless Dental
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: One of the best hacking powers (And easy to find), this slows down
the water flow during the hacking minigame, giving you more time to get those
pipes in the right place.
Speedy Hacker 2
Cost: 50
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden in Olympus Heights
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Further slows down the hacking game, essential if you want to
continue manually hacking late in the game.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Bloodlust
Invent
Cost: 4 Glue, 3 Enzyme, 2 Empty Hypo
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: A wrench addicts dream, Bloodlust restores a little bit of health
and EVE with every successful hit. If you use the Wrench, this should be
invented and equipped ASAP.
Booze Hound
Invent
Cost: 4 Glue, 3 Enzyme, 2 Empty Hypo
Rating: 1.5/5
Comments: A component waster, this causes you to gain EVE instead of losing
it when you drink alcohol. With so many other great Physical Tonics to be
had, this one is pretty useless in comparison.
EVE Link
Cost: 40
Location (First Available): Gatherers Garden in Lounge
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: Really one of the best Physical Tonics in the game, every time you
use a First Aid Kit you get a little EVE back too. Awesome power that
practically negates the need for EVE Hypos early on. Purchase it ASAP.
EVE Link 2
Cost: <None>
Location: As you enter the Farmers Market, keep to the right. It's in front
of a U-Invent and Vending Machine.
Rating: 5/5
Comments: The best Physical Tonic in the game, restores a large chunk of EVE
when you use a First Aid Kit your health. Cuts down big on late game use
of EVE Hypos
Extra Nutrition
Cost: 20
Location(First Available): Gatherers Garden (Lower Wharf)
Rating: 1/5
Comments: Useless. This power gives you a little more health and EVE when you
eat foods, but its not significant enough to really be noticed. Refrain from
buying or keep in Gene bank.
Extra Nutrition 2
Cost: <None>
Location: A complicated one to find. First, go into Sinclair Spirits in
Poseidon Plaza and hit the switch behind the counter (The same one that opens
up the basement to the P2P machine), and head back outside..A previously
grated over stairwell will now be open. Walk down the stairs and you should
see Extra Nutrition 2 sitting on a box on the far end of the room.
Rating: 1/5 (For pure annoyance)
Comments: This is a sneaky little Tonic to find, an "Upgrade" to the last one
acquiring this causes tons of Spider Slicers to spawn and attack you
(In a creepy way too), and is just not worth the trouble. Only acquire if
you're looking to capture all the tonics.
Extra Nutrition 3
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the third research bar on "Spider Splicers"
Rating: 1.5/5
Comments: Significantly boosts your health and EVE intake from foods but..
with all of the great Physical Tonics out there it's hard to even consider
putting this in one of those valuable slots.
Hackers Delight
Cost: <None>
Location: Eternal Flame Crematorium
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Exceptionally good early game tonic, every time you hack ANYTHING
with this baby equipped you get a little health back. Great for when you have
a little health gone but don't want to use that first aid kit.
(Using Autohacking tools DOES cause this to activate)
Hackers Delight 2
Invent
Cost(After Hacking): 4 Alcohol, 3 Enzyme, 2 Empty Hypo
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: The second tonic you should invent, a good upgrade for a mid game
player but not essential for your health.
(Using Autohacking tools DOES cause this to activate)
Hackers Delight 3
Cost: <None>
Location: In Failsafe Armored Escorts by all the Big Daddy Helmets
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: By this late stage in the game there are only a few more things to
hack..provides a significant boost if you do hack however.
(Using Autohacking tools DOES cause this to activate)
Medical Expert
Cost: <None>
Location: Lower Wharf
Rating: 2.5/5
Comments: This early in the game, your slots should be filled with better
tonics. This provides a little boost, but it usually ends up being over your
current total HP. Wait for it's upgrade.
Medical Expert 2
Cost: <None>
Location: Lower Atrium (After you finish Cohen's Masterpeice, he will open
a glass case, containing this for you)
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: Now this Tonic gets useful as it assists your First Aid kits in
getting you to full health much faster. I recommend you equip and stick with
this tonic until you get its upgrade.
Medical Expert 3
Cost: <None>
Location" Artemis Second Floor in the Bathroom
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Really helpful late game, equip it and never look back. Helps out
big time in heated battles as your health will skyrocket.
Natural Camouflage
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the second research bar on "Houdini Splicer"
Rating: 5/5
Comments: Awesome power. This will partially hide you from enemies who don't
know of your presence, but it really shines if you get caught by a security
camera. If you stand still the security bots WILL NOT be able to see you, and
so you can wait the security alarm out instead of running around or paying
money to deactivate it.
Scrounger
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the second research bar on "Leadhead Splicers"
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: Don't like what you got? Change it! Great late game power
(Even though you get it relatively early due to researching), this will trade
useless junk for treasures..And vice versa. Be careful because that 100
dollars you got on that Big Daddy could turn into 60 really quick. Use this
Tonic wisely.
Security Evasion
Cost: <None>
Location: By the Waterfall Grotto AFTER Ryan poisons the trees, it's near a
dead Houdini Splicer that 3 Thuggish Splicers are beating
Rating: 2.5/5
Comments: Causes security cameras to take a little longer to find you,
however at this point in the game they take pretty long as is. Can't
recommend using it unless you have security issues.
Security Evasion 2
Cost: <None>
Location: On a table in Lower Heat Loss Monitoring (Near the Objective Tape
Recorder)
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: This comes along as cameras start catching you faster and faster.
Equip if you don't want to get caught right away. Not essential, but nice to
have if you forget about a camera location.
SportBoost
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the second research bar on "Thuggish Splicer"
Rating: 4.5/5
Comments: Awesome power for wrench use, this will allow you to move faster
and swing faster when you have the wrench equipped. Highly recommended for
Wrench fanatics.
SportBoost 2
Cost: <None>
Location: After filling the fourth research bar on "Thuggish Splicer"
Rating: 5/5
Comments: Better, faster, stronger, equip as soon as you get it for a
fast swinging Wrench and quick feet.

[-4.0-] Research Tips
______________________________________________________________________________
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Researching is an important part of gameplay as it assists with damage and
nets you some pretty cool Tonics. Here are some quick tips on obtaining all
of those upgrades and Tonics.
- As soon as you get the Research Camera, start taking pictures of everything
you can. You can take up to 4 pictures of each enemy and still manage to get
a C on each. Don't be worried about wasting film, you can purchase it at
pretty much all of the Vending Machines cheap (12 dollars after hacking).
- Purchase as much film as your funds will allow, it can prove to be more
dangerous then your weapons when you get the upgrades associated with it.
- Take 4 pictures per enemy, rapid fire. You will be able to get all 4
pictures in usually before an enemy hits you, or even sees you.
- ALWAYS TAKE PICTURES. Every enemy, all the time. The faster you get up to a
full bar the more advantages you will have against the enemy.
- The more subjects in the picture, the higher chance of a good grade, even
if they're not the same type of enemy (Big Daddy + Little Sister will usually
net you an A on your first picture).
- There are only 5 research bars per enemy. Once you finish that, you never
have to take a picture of that enemy again.
- Don't worry about missing! Your camera doesn't dock you a photo just
because you snap the picture.
- Don't forget to use tonics that give you bonuses to get your researching
done quicker.

[-5.0-] Q&A
______________________________________________________________________________
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Q: Why did you create this FAQ?
A: I'm pretty much obsessed with Bioshock at the moment and wanted the Tonic
Collector Achievement. After hours of frustration and backtracking I finally
achieved it. I wrote this FAQ along with my misadventures so that I could
share the wealth and maybe ease others frustrations.
Q: What difficulty did you do this on?
A: Easy. Faster that way, and difficulties do not change the locations of
items nor item costs. I've beaten the game on Medium already, and am about
halfway through hard.
Q: I don't agree with your <Insert Comment/Rating> here
A: Hey, these are my personal experiences with the Plasmids/Tonics. If you
disagree thats your own opinion but I'm not changing mine just because yours
are different.
Q: I found a typo/something wrong/have a suggestion
A: Please use my contact information and send me a message about it! I'll be
sure to list your information in my "Special Thanks" section :)
Q: Can I contact you directly with questions about your FAQ/Tonic/Plasmid
Locations?
A: Of course, if it doesn't seem like I'm being clear enough or you need more
clarification, please don't hesitate to contact me via E-mail/Message my
Gamertag/Add me as a friend. You should get a response in a day at most.
Q: Can I contact you to say thanks?
A: If you want to. I don't mind hearing "Thank-you" every once and awhile
