Welcome to the To The Earth walkthrough. There really isn't a lot of
internet coverage for this game, so a crazy idea popped into my head. Why
not put this games bad reputation to rest and create a walkthrough? Well,
why not? Here goes nothing...

1) Zapper Operation
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
YOU MUST HAVE A ZAPPER (NES LIGHT GUN) TO PLAY _TO THE EARTH_
Plug you Zapper into control slot 2. (It will not work in 1)
I suggest that you put a controller into slot two so you can pause the the
game with the START button if you hand gets tired (believe me, it will)
The controls are pretty self explanatory...
..Aim, Pull Trigger...

2) Energy Bar
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You energy bar is your survival in space...
You sill start with 100 points. If you bar runs out, GAME OVER. Simple huh?
The following actions will modify the energy bar:
Missed Shot: -2 pts.
Destroy Enemy Ship: +5 pts.
Hit From Rock: -5 pts.
Destroy Rock: +5 pts.
Hit From Energy Bomb: -5 pts.
Destroy Energy Bomb: 0
Energy Pickup From Allied Ship: +50 pts.
Destroy Allied Ship: -90 pts.

3) Corner Symbols & Item
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are two essential corner symbols and 1 item throughout the game that
every player ought to be aware of. The Energy, Nova, and Barrier
Nova
The Nova will always appear in the bottom right corner of the screen.
You need to shoot it with the Zapper to activate it. (No pts. deducted)
The Nova will clear the screen of all Ships and Energy Bombs.
It appears after every 5th ship destroyed.
Energy
The Energy pickup will always appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
You need to shoot it with the Zapper to activate it. (No pts. deducted)
The Energy pickup adds 50 points. to your total.
It appears a set number of times at each stage.
Shoot quickly, it is only displayed for about 5 seconds.
DO NOT shoot the ship on the screen while this is happening, you will lose
90 points. Chances are, that's probably enough to lose.
Barrier
The barrier will always appear in the sky near the screen's center
If you see a blue streak in the sky, shoot it to activate the barrier.
The barrier will protect you from 7 energy bombs.
It appears a set number of times through each stage.

3) Enemy Ships
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are four types of basic enemy ships they are the Fighter, Bomber,
Trapezoid, and Speck. There also is the erratic rock
Fighter
Fighters are shaped liked planes; they make all kinds of maneuvers and end
their stint by moving off of the screen. They will usually drop one Energy
Bomb per appearance.
Bomber
Bombers look like three cylinders in a row. They tend to start at the top
of the screen and move off in a straight line, no frills. They are
the heavy bomb users in To The Earth and they'll usually drop more than one.
Otherwise, they are smaller than fighters.
Trapezoid
These ships look kind of like UFOs. They will start at a point on the screen
and move in a short U-shaped trajectory off the screen dropping one Bomb
on their way out.
Speck
The Speck will start out as a moving speck on the screen and get bigger.
They will normally UNLOAD Bombs as soon as they get close; they carry a
lot of them so you must destroy them as soon as you see them.
Stationary Specks
These appear at the end of the game. They appear and stand still while they
blast you. Eliminate these small targets quickly.
Erratic Rocks
Rocks will fill the screen once in a while; they are easy targets and pose
little danger to your ship, unless they hit it. Large and easy targets.

5) Overall Tips
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Hand fatigue = Bad thing. Yes, there is a lot of shooting to be done in
this game.
- To avoid hand fatigue, use the pause button to rest your hand, switch
hands, or rest your elbow on an armrest.
-Trigger speed is essential in this game. Make sure you can squeeze off
AT LEAST 5-6 shots a second or you will not have much of a chance.
-I really don't recommend that you play this game more than 18 in. from the
screen. The targets are really small.
- Energy bombs should be your first priority AT ALL TIMES. They will not
reward you with any energy if you destroy then so make sure you do not miss
them. You'll lose energy for a missed shot AND an energy bomb hit.
- Erratic Rocks are easy targets and will help you recover. They don't
fight back!
- The ONLY rocks that will hit your ship are the ones that appear at the
bottom of the screen, remember that!
- You can only have one Nova on the screen at a time, use it quickly.
- Ships destroyed by Novas will give you your 5 pts./ship recovery, use it
wisely
- Condition Red/Yellow really doesn't mean anything, use the in-game pause
to rest your aching hand, if necessary.
- If you think you've seriously hurt your hand playing this game seek
medical attention. I am not responsible for any injuries that this guide or
this game may cause to your hand and/or trigger finger! Don't be ridiculous!
