The Story So Far

On board a mysterious space station and orbiting high above planet
Earth, Cortex is putting the finishing touches on his latest and
greatest achievement: A shrinking ray of global proportiomns, this
diabolical tool will literally allow him to minimize the planet to a
size barely larger than a grapefruit! The Planetary Minimizer is
linked to crystals and gems strategically placed in various locales
around the world. When executed, the ray will effectively shrink
EVERYTHING, even the Earth! It is a true work of genius, as evil as
it may be.

The Object Of The Game

The object of Crash Bandicoot: XS is to collect the many crystals
and gems located around the various stages. To do this you must
navigate many platform levels, bashing open crates and collecting
items along the way.

Crash has a useful arsenal of moves which can be used to complete
the various levels of the game. For those of you who have lost or
don't want to read their game manual, the moves can be utilzed as
follows:
Crash Bandicoot:
{NOTE: Moves in brackets can only be used after certain bosses have
been defeated.)
Move............................................Press Left or Right.
Spin.............................................Press the B Button.
(Tornado Spin)..................Press B 3 times in rapid succession.
Jump.............................................Press the A Button.
(Double Jump)....Press the A Button. At the top of the jump press A.
Slide...................Hold Left or Right, then press the R Button.
Body Slam......Jump, then at the top of the jump press the R Button.
(Super Body Slam).............................Read Body Slam, above.
Crouch............................Press either Down or the R Button.

Now that you know all you need to to play Crash Bandicoot XS, this
walkthrough will guide you step-by-step through the game.

5.1) Hub 1

5.11) Level 1 - Jungle Jam
Make your way to the right, collecting the boxes on your way. You
must jump on the boxes to collect their fruit. When you come to the
purple enemy, either spin it or jump on it. You should keep going
right until you come to a ledge with a box and a trail of fruit
leading to another box.
Press SELECT and check how many boxes you have collected. You
should have 5 out of 42 boxes. If not, go back and check you have
not missed any. Now jump on the box nearest to you, bounce over to
the other box and jump on that too. Now go right.
You should see a green and purple venus-fly-trap-type creature.
Move towards it and spin it. If you are hit, you will be taken to
the beginning of the level again. If not, carry on to the right,
fall down the step and jump over, onto the "C" box.
This is a checkpoint box, which means that if it is jumped on,
the next time you lose a life you will go to this checkpoint
instead of the beginning of the level. You should now have 8 of 42
boxes.
Now jump over to the ledge. You should see two boxes. DO NOT spin
these. Jump on the bottom one and bounce up and down to get the
fruit. If you spin them, you do not get the fruit contained inside.
In case you didn't know, after you collect 100 fruit, you gain an
extra life, so it is best to collect all the fruit you can. At this
point, I had 61 fruit. If you press SELECT the game will display
the number of fruit, boxes and lives you have. You should have
around 61 fruit and 5 lives. You should definetly have ten boxes at
this point.
Now keep going right, jumping up the steps then jumping or
spinning the enemy. Go right a little. You should be able to see a
wood carving with a large question mark on it. Jump on the carving.
You will be teleported to a bonus level. Do not be alarmed if all of
your fruit, boxes and lives have gone, as they will reappear once you
exit the bonus level. Bonus levels are excellent places to pick up
lives, boxes and apples. Make your way right, through the bonus
level. Collect the boxes and fruit, then jump on the brown and
yellow carving at the end.
Bounce off the box to your right onto the metal box, then jump up
for an extra life. Now make your way right until you meet some metal
boxes. Jump up them and continue right. Get the checkpoint and the
mask box.
The mask will protect you from one hit. Jump up and spin the
creature and then continue right until you meet a box that keeps
changing. Wait for it to become Crash's face, then spin it. Do not
wait too long though, as it will turn to steel. You should have
picked up a purple crystal. If not, search for it. Now continue to
the exit, a carving with a yellow part. You should have 42 out of 42
boxes. Now jump on the carving and the gem.
WELL DONE! YOU COMPLETED JUNGLE JAM! Now press start and save your
game.
5.12) Level 2 - Shipwrecked
This level takes place underwater. Unsurprisingly, this makes Crash
a lot harder to control, as Crash is in a virtually gravity-less
environment.
Press the D-pad to move, the A Button to boost forward and the
B Button to spin.
Swim to the right, collecting the boxes along the way.
Underwater, the boxes must be spinned. Avoid thre fish and carry on
right until you see a step. You should have collected 12 boxes out of
63.
Swim down the steps, then avoid the spiked object, as it is a mine
and will blow up on contact. Smash the six boxes to the right, then
swim down, avoiding the red fish. Now swim to the left, smashing the
checkpoint box on the way. Collect the other boxes. You should now
have 23 boxes. The shark can be spinned, or simply avoided. Your
decision.
Avoid the hazards and swim up the steps. Spin the four boxes. Now
go right then down, avoiding the eels which will electrocute Crash.
Avoid the fish and spin the checkpoint box. Then keep going right,
spinning the boxes. Swim up the steps and spin the four boxes.]
Keep going right and spinning boxes until you reach the top of the
steps. Now spin the 8 boxes. Then spin the checkpoint box and spin
the next box. Avoid the mine and swim up the steps. You should have
45 out of 63 boxes. Now spin the six boxes, including the extra life
box.
Avoid the mine and kill the shark. Go right, through the icicle
things and spin the checkpoint. Then go right and spin the mask box.
Avoid the mine, swim up avoiding the eels. Now swim left a little.
Grab the crystal and spin the boxes below you. Now go left a little
more and grab the two remaining boxes. Be extremely careful not to
hit the mine.
You should have 63 out of 63 boxes now. Swim to the left, avoiding
the fish and mine, grab the gem and go through the pipe.
WELL DONE! YOU COMPLETED SHIPWRECKED! Now press START and save your
game.
5.13) Level 3 - Temple Of Boom
Back to the normal platform levels.... At last.
Make your way right and smash the three boxes. Be careful on the
third, as the venus-fly-trap creature will eat you if you aren't
careful. Slide, spin, jump on, just get rid of the creature. Now
fall down the gap. Yes, fall down the gap! There is a secret
passageway.
Go down the steps, slide the boxes and crawl throught the gap to
get an extra life. At this point you should have collected six out of
74 boxes. Now go back up the steps and jump to the next platform.
Kill the purple creature and jump up the ledge. Jump on the TNT
box, then get out of the way as fast as you can. Unless you want to
lose a life. Now jump and spin the boxes to your right. Then jump on
the thin ledge and jump on top of the box. Land back on the TNT box,
then get out of the way. It will explode. You should now have
collected 11 of 72 boxes.
Now jump onto the steel boxes and then onto the next platform. Jump
onto the steel arrow box, then onto the wooden one. Bounce up and
down until the box above you has smashed, then smash the wooden arrow
crate by body slamming it or spinning it. Smash the checkpoint box.
You should now have 14 of 74 boxes smashed.
Go right and jump across the three levitating platforms onto the
platform with the ? carving on it. Jump on the carving.
Bonus level time! Make your way to the right, collecting the fruit
on your way. Now detonate the TNT box to your right, then get out
of the way. Go back right and spin or slide the bottom box. Now
crouch (R Button) and jump on the Crash box. Fall to get the life
then get out of the way. Don't worry if you die, as on bonus levels
you have unlimited lives. If you die just jump on the carving again.
Now fall to the right. Go right a little. DO NOT spin the two
boxes, instead bounce off the top one to get onto the steel
platform and to get the Crash crate. Then jump back down, get the
remaining box and crawl under the platform.
Now jump across onto the next platform and spin the two boxes
there. Then go right and spin the five remaining boxes. You should
now have smashed 15 of 28 boxes in the bonus level. Jump across
and bounce up the steel arrow boxes to get the ? box at the top,
which should contain a mask.
Now go right. DO NOT smash the four boxes, instead jump off them
to reach the other three boxes above. Now smash the boxes. You should
have now smashed 23 of 28 boxes in the bonus level. Go right and
smash the remaining 5 and then jump on the brown\yellow carving.
Continue right, slide the creature then jump across to the
platform. Now jump to the next, then spin. Jump to smash the box.
Jump across the platform to reach some boxes including 2 TNT boxes.
Spin the two nearest to you, taking care not to spin the TNT boxes.
Now crouch jump (R then A Button) onto the box above the TNT, then
fall onto the TNT box to detonate it. Now run away and both TNT boxes
will explode. Now, jump onto the box below you, then bounce right a
little, then bounce left to hit the three boxes below you. The fruit
should provide a visual guide. You should now have 51 of 74 boxes
smashed.
Smash the three boxes to your right and get rid of the purple
creature. Now spin the checkpoint box and spin the bird that is
approaching. Jump onto the steel boxes and onto the moving platform,
then to the left. Spin the purple creature. Smah the Crash box, jump
back onto the moving platform and jump onto the platform to the right.
There should be four boxes near you. Crouch jump over the TNT box
and fall onto the two boxes to the right of it. Then jump onto the
TNT box and get out of the way. Spin the approaching bird. Go down
the steps and spin the mask box, but leave the others alone. Then
bounce off one of the boxes to smash the Crash box, then bounce off
another to get an extra life. Now destroy all the boxes. You should
now have smashed 67 of 74 boxes.
Now jump across to the right. Ignore the steps to your left. Go to
the right and spin the checkpoint box, then right a little more and
spin the mask box. Jump onto the moving platform, then onto the steel
box and collect the crystal.
Jump onto the next moving platform and on to the next platform.
Then spin the box. Slide or spin the flower creature and smash the
two boxes. You should now have smashed 72 of 74 boxes. Jump onto the
next platform, then onto the next and spin the flower creature. Go
onto the moving one, then smash the ? box high up. Now jump onto the
next platform.
Bounce off the purple creature to smash the Crash box, then crouch
jump to gain an extra life. You should now have 74 of 74 boxes. Now
jump across the three moving platforms and on the brown and yellow
carving, collecting the gem on the way.
WELL DONE! YOU COMPLETED TEMPLE OF BOOM! Now press START and save
your game.
5.14) Level 4 - Frostbite Cavern
This level takes place in an icy cavern with many hazards that can
block your way.
Jump over the Nitro box, then go right until you meet a penguin.
Wait for it to stop spinning, then spin\slide or jump on it to kill
it. Smash the ? box near you and jump over the Nitro box. Jump over
to the next platform, collect the fruit then jump again, over to the
next platform.
Bounce up and down in the boxes, then jump over to the next
platform. Be careful on this one, as it is icy and thus quite
slippery. Slide across, jump to the next platform and smash the mask
box. Now jump across. If you see seals simple jump on, slide or spin
them. Smash the ? box and jump across to the next platform. Smash the
box and jump down the hole.
In this section you must run away from the polar bear. Press B to
run and A to jump. Do not bother with the boxes, as the polar bear
will smash them for you. At the end of this section, you should have
collected 65 of 114 boxes. Now jump right, over the nitro and smash
the two boxes.
Now jump across and spin the penguin. Jump down and bounce off the
mask box onto the next platform. Jump over the Nitro and onto the
next platform. Grab the crystal and smash the box but be careful of
the seals. Go right and spin the four boxes. You should have 73 of
114 boxes. Jump onto the ? carving.
Go right, collecting the fruit. Now bounce off the arrow box onto
the box above. Bounce up and down until it smashes and then right,
onto the next platform. Smash the five boxes, and go right,
collecting the fruit on your way. Bounce off the changing box onto
the top box. You should now have collected 8 of 22 boxes. Go right,
up the step and bounce off the TNT boxes to get the Crash box.
Now bounce off the box to your right 5 times, then onto the left
platform. Hit the ! box. Jump off the arrow box to hit the box above,
then body slam the box below. Go to the right and exit with 22 of 22
boxes. You should now have 95 of 114 boxes.
Go right and jump across, dodge the Nitro crate and hit the green !
box. Jump to the next platform. You should have 106 of 114 boxes now.
Dodge the seals and go right, then hit the box above. Jump right
and exit.
WELL DONE! YOU COMPLETED FROSTBITE CAVERN! Now press START and save
your game. {NOTE: I need help to find the last 7 boxes on this level.
