*Section II. Version Update History*
July 19,2003- Guide started and V.1.0 is released. This version covers the
author information, the table of contents and Version Update History V.1.0.
This version also includes the Author's notes V0.2 and the Introduction/Story,
and up to Excitement Central: Greenhorn Ruins in the walkthrough.
*Section III. Author's Notes*
Version 1.0
As I progress with this walkthrough I will continue to add also to this
section until the Final version is released. This is my first guide that I
am writing so please give me feedback and tell me what all you think needs
to be included in this walkthrough.
*Section IV. Introduction/Story*
The story in Wario World is very short and you could probably watch it in
the game in less time than sitting and reading it here. But here goes.
Once upon a time there was an evil dark jewel. This jewel had unimaginable
destructive powers. It would turn people's wishes into horrible monsters.
The jewel's darkness was on the verge of over-running the Sacred Forest,
the home of the Spritelings, but they instead sealed the gem away, never
to be released again. Little did they know that one day a fat, greedy
treasure hunter would unleash their bane to once again threaten the world.
After destroying Wario's castle and turning his precious treasures into
vile monsters Wario is thrust into his adventure to not only save the
world but to save his money.
*Section V. Special Items, Wario's Moves and Unithorn's Lair*
::COINS::
There are a ton of items that Wario must collect in this adventure. Let's
start out with the most basic item, coins. Coins make up the bulk of what
Wario will see and collect. Coins can come from enemies, from crates and
can often be found just sitting out in the open. Coins are used mainly
only for buying health or continuing at the "Game Over" screen.
::RED CRYSTALS::
The next most important items are the red crystals. These are used to get
by the stone doohickeys at the end of the level that guard the door to the
boss. The amount of required red crystals increases in each of the four
worlds that you are in at the time. These items can be found below the
wooden and steel trapdoors and require that you solve a puzzle to collect
this prize. There are eight of these in each level.
::WARIO STATUE PIECES::
If all eight pieces of the Wario statues are collected in a level you will
gain an extra half of a heart. You can collect a total of four extra hearts
by assembling all eight Wario statues in the game. Not only will they give
extra health but they add a cool decoration to the over world.
::TREASURE SWITCHES AND PADS::
There are special treasures that only appear after a certain colored switch is
hit. After the switch is hit the chest becomes visible on a matching colored
pad. There are eight different colors of pads and switches in the game.
The colors are: red, yellow, purple, blue, light blue, pink, teal and green.
Collect all eight treasures in a level to unlock a WarioWare mini game that
can be played using a connected GBA in Treasure Courtyard.
::SPRITELINGS::
There are five Spritelings locked in cages in each level. You can usually
tell one is near when you hear their muffled voices and constant thuds.
Hit their cages just like the colored treasure chests to release them and
in return they will give you a valuable hint for the level you are in.
They also have another purpose, at the end of the game, depending on how many
of them you collected your ending id determined. Collect them all for the
best ending.
::GARLIC::
Along your quest you are bound to break open a barrel and see a smelly bulb
of garlic looking you in the face. This stuff is what gives Wario back a
heart of health along with rancid breath. You may also see a machine that
resembles the garlic bulbs. Hit this machine and he will give you a garlic
bulb in exchange for the amount of coins displayed above the garlic machine.
Be careful because the cost of garlic goes up the more you buy.
::GLUE GLOBES::
These sticky amber orbs are the key to reach new heights in Wario World.
Once you jump onto one of these you will stick to it until you jump off of
it. Remember that you can rotate around a glue globe to get into the best
position for your next lofty leap.
::WARIO'S MOVES::
Wario may be greedy and a little obese but he still has some fight in him,
and he has the moves to back it up with.
::JUMP:: Wario can jump but not high. To make Wario jump simply press the
A button. Sorry, no double jump.
::PUNCH:: Wario is quite the fighter and has a mean punch combo. To punch
press B and to make Wario do his combo press B three times in a row.
::DASH ATTACK:: There are two ways to make Wario dash. The first is to
simplypress the R button. The second is to press and hold the B button.
::HYPER SUCTION:: When too many coins appear for Wario to run
around and collect it's time to unleash Wario's hyper suction.
To do this just press L or Z.
::GROUND POUND:: To make Wario perform an earthquaking pound, just jump and
press R while in mid-air.
::PICK UP AN ENEMY AND TOSS THEM:: To pick up a KOed enemy press B while
standing next to them. Then to toss them press B again. To Mega Toss
them hold B and then release.
::CORKSCREW CONK:: To perform a corkscrew conk do the dash attack and then
press R to do a somersault that will carry you further than a normal jump.
::WILD SWING-A-DING:: Once you have picked up an enemy begin to rotate the
control stick and use the monster as a weapon against its buddies.
::PILEDRIVER:: With a baddie in hand jump up and press R to deliver a skull
crushing blow.
*UNITHORN'S LAIR*
- Unithorn's Lair is a dark scary place that Wario will fall into if he
falls off of the edge of a cliff. If you find yourself in Unithorn's
Lair run like crazy breaking all of the crates you see until you see the
one with the spring. One of the dangers of the Unithorn's Lair is the dark
liquid surrounding the paths. If you fall into the liquid you will lose coins
until you manage you get out of the water. The other is the rhino heads
that will try to "nudge" you into the water. They may also grab you and steal
coins themselves. If this happens move the control stick rapidly to escape!

- The first world of Excitement Central is of course the easiest and most
basic world in the game. Use this time to get used to the controls and
the overall feel of the game. The basic skills you learn here are the
skills that will have to be mastered in order complete your quest. The
way the room holding the entrances to the levels is decorated gives you
a general idea of what the levels themselves will be like. Prepare to
navigate the lush forest and ancient ruins of the Greenhorn in Excitement
Central. Go through the only open door and into Greenhorn Forest.

- Preceed from the beginning to the point where there is a bridge and you
should notice a tree that has notches in it. Climb up the tree to a wooden
platform with many enemies. Defeat them and hit the pink treasure button
on the far end then hit the treasure chest that appears on the other end
of the platform to collect the diamond.
- Climb back down the tree and travel across the bridge. You will come up on
a Spriteling in a cage which will automatically be freed. He explains
how to jump and punch. After reading, proceed across the stumps to find
a Wario statue piece hovering above a stump. Defeat the enemies in this next
area and continue on until you see another ladder on a tree. Climb up
and collect another Wario statue piece by making a simple jump to your left.
- After going a little further, hit the red treasure pad and a treasure
chest will appear in plain view. Hit it to reveal a ruby.
At the next section you will notice a set of foot prints that will direct
you to jump to a pole. Instead of jumping right away, go down into the
pit to the right, go around the logs, and punch the yellow treasure switch.
- After that, proceed to jump onto the pole, then to the other platform.
Before jumping onto the next series of poles, climb up the pole in the
background to find the yellow treasure pad revealing an opal. Now proceed
to the next series of poles and cross them.
- Fight off the enemies in the immediate area, then proceed a little
further. You'll hear the grunts of a Spriteling and notice one on a
stump in plain view. He tells you about the red diamonds in the sub-levels
and the stone doohickeys at the end of the levels. Additionally, he
explains how to perform a ground pound. Put your move to good use
because right in front of the Spriteling there is a wooden trap door
emitting light. Ground pound the door to proceed to a sub-level challenge.
- Rotate the C stick so that the camera is behind Wario
at all times. Climb up the green platforms, then jump across the hovering
blocks to reach a red diamond and the left leg of the Wario statue.
Don't waste time on them though as they will sink. Exit the area by simply
walking onto the spring.
- Proceed further on and you should be immediately stopped by the garlic
machine. Hopefully at this point you don't need any garlic (health).
Progress onward and you will notice a wall blocking your path. Punch
the block with the white X and it will crumble to bits. You will notice
another wall with a white on it but before smashing through it,ground
pound the trap door.
- Inside you will notice a bunch of green hovering blocks. Jump on the
one lowest to the ground and proceed to reach the right leg of the Wario
statue. Go onward up the path of blocks to nab the red crystal. Exit
that area by stepping onto the spring located near the bottom.
- Continue on through the wall and you'll notice a green treasure pad, but
no treasure switch. You will also see a bunny spring. Perform a ground pound
on the spring to give Wario the leverage up to the ledge. You will see a
Spriteling on another stump. Free it, listen to what it says, then proceed
to the background to the right and ground pound the wooden trap door.
- You will see three stacks of crates that must be smashed in order to reach
the upper levels. Smash the left crate until Wario can jump up (4 times)
and grab hold of it. Smash the middle series three times and the right stack
none. Voila! You have created a stairway to reach another red crystal. Jump
back down, hit the spring, and exit the sub-level.
- Instead of going right, backtrack left until you come to another bunny
spring with which you can used by ground pounding it to reach another
level with two purple pterdactyls and a wooden trap door on a stump.
Go into the sublevel and you will see a cube of crates. Punch the middle
stack four times to reach the chest of the Wario statue then make your
way into the center of the cube by destroying the crates until you find
a red crystal.
- Exit to the main world, then go and backtrack left even more until you
see another scaleable tree. Climb up and you'll notice two different
paths you can take - one left and one right. Take the left path first.
Continue along the platforms to find a green treasure switch on a post.
Jump up and hit it, then backtrack to the where the path in the tree
splits. Jump back down the tree and you'll find the green treasure chest
for the green treasure switch you just hit. Destroy the chest to find the
amethyst.
- Climb back up the tree, take the path to your right this time, then jump
across the series of platforms until you find a bridge spanning two of the
platforms. Here you will find Wario's left arm hovering above this bridge.
After obtaining this item, continue onwards across the series of bridges
and platforms until you reach the teal treasure button. Hit it, then
backtrack to the tree with the ladder, then make your way back to the first
bunny spring you came across to find a piece of amber.
- Continue onwards until you come to a shallow lake swarming with enemies.
There is a rock in the middle with Wario's right arm hovering above it.
Collect this piece, then make your way to the ladder in the background.
Climb up to a platform with two large triceratops. Knock one out, grab
it, then throw it at the light blue treasure switch on the trunk of
the tree in the background. If you miss with both enemies, you can always
pick up the big stone Wario heads and try again. If your aim is so bad
that you manage to miss with the heads, you can always jump towards the
switch and hit it that way. Jump off the ledge and you'll notice another
rock in the same lake with a wooden trap door on it.
- In this sub-level you'll see a moving glue globe. Jump onto it, position
yourself in such a way as to pass through the obstical and reach the upper
platform containing a red crystal. Hit the spring to exit, then continue
along. You'll notice another bunny spring. Use it to make your way over
the logs. You will then notice the light blue treasure chest if you hit
the button in the trees above. Collect the sapphire, then head toward
the background to find another trap door.
- In this sub-level you will find quite possibly the easiest
challenge in the entire game. Hit the switch, go up the stairs, collect
your prize, then exit. Look for a stump in the main world with a Spriteling
on it. This Spriteling will explain the terrible Unithorn's lair. He'll
also inform you how to escape it. After listening to him, you will notice
two rope bridges ahead. Either one you go across will break. After falling
down into the chasm, you will get your first taste of the Unithorn's liar.
Demolish the crates as soon as possible to find the exit spring. After
escaping and taking the sturdy bridge, you'll notice another garlic machine
and another caged Spriteling. Set him free and he will inform you about the
byebye balloons.
- You'll see a stone doohickey sitting inside a rock foundation. If you
have collected all the crystals listed in this faq so far, you will have
enough to face the boss. Before you do this however, head past the
doohickey's rock foundation, and through another stone wall with a
white X. Hit the blue treasure switch, then head down into the trap door.
- This puzzle is quite tricky if you don't know what to do. Hit the left
lever twice, and the right lever three times to position the "L" into a
perfect climbing position. Collect your red crystal, then exit.
- Head through the other stone wall, defeat the enemies on the other side,
then climb up the tree to a platform and you should see a purple treasure
switch on a stump down below. Jump down to it, then ground pound it.
After climbing back up the tree to the platform, you will notice another
trap door further to the right. You should know what to do by now. In
this sub-level, you'll see spiked balls rotating around an elevated platform.
Time your jump perfectly so that you can jump onto the edge and jump up
to the platform without taking damage. Collect the last piece of the
Wario statue and the last red crystal.
- Proceed onward across another bridge to an enemy-infested
platform. Here, you'll notice a type of enemy you haven't yet seen. This
turtle like creature shoots out cannon balls. To defeat him, grab one of
the cannon balls he shoots out and toss it back at him to put him out of
business.
- After clearing this area, collect the treasure on the blue treasure
pad. Be carefull when jumping off of the platform because it could result
in another journey into the depths of Unithorn's lair. Head back toward
the right of the platform, then jump off just to be careful. Backtrack
across the one sturdy rope bridge to collect the emerald in the purple
treasure chest.
- Now, venture to the stone doohickey and ground pound the spot where the
stone doohickey disappears from. Prepare for a boss fight now. If you
need any garlic, be sure to visit the garlic machine before you enter.

- Defeating this reptillian menace is actually quite simple . Just run
up to him, punch him until he turns red, run away until he returns to his
normal color, return to punch him until he falls down, pick him up, and
perform a piledriver on him.
- Repeat this process two more times to attain victory. Be sure to collect
the immense amount of coins he spews out after you finish him off by using
your hyper suction. If you were diligent enough to collect all of the
statue fragments you will be rewarded for all of your hard work with a
half of a heart. Now continue on to to Greenhorn Ruins.
