INTRODUCTION

Almost 500 songs in this FAQ and still growing.  WOOT!!! Please keep sending
me your songs and reviews so this FAQ can grow and improve!!!!!!
P-P-P-P-P-PLEEEEAASE!!!

I may not update this FAQ more than once a week, so please be patient.

By going to the "Song Billboard" in your town, you can change the song that
is played at certain times and places in the game.  The Song Billboard is
located near the post office.  I'm not gonna explain it more, because it's
all pretty obvious.

I've included an "accuracy score."  This is NOT how much you like it! ("I
LOVE Zelda so I give it a 5! is WRONG.)  Accuracy means HOW WELL DOES THE AC
VERSION MATCH THE "REAL" SONG?  The scale is something like this:

1 – Stinks, I can't tell what it is.
2 – Recognizable
3 – Pretty good
4 – Great match, any idiot would recognize it
5 – PERFECT!  Sounds EXACTLY like the real song (well a little beepy maybe
but otherwise perfect).

5's should be pretty rare.  Due to the length limit and un-adjustable speed
that the notes play, it may simply be impossible to duplicate some songs well
in AC.

Also, I will only include the first 10 reviewers, so please don't email me
with a review if there are already 10 reviews listed for a particular song.

Then click on "The Melody Maker" (look for K.K. Slider, the guitar-playing
dog).
You'll get a pop-up window that is just like the music board in the game.

A great way to try out your songs, and you don't have to wait for your stinky
little brother to relinquish the gamecube!

HOW TO READ THE SONGS IN THIS FAQ

Except for "f" there are two of each note.  So it is important to know which
one is meant.  Fortunately, notes that are "musically" lower, are also lower
on the game screen.  In this FAQ, the lower seven notes (gabcdef) are written
in lower case, and the upper six notes (GABCDE) are written in upper case
(now any dummy can remember that, eh?).  So you could even be deaf and write
perfect songs every time using this FAQ!

It should be obvious, but - indicates an extended ("held") note, and z
indicates silence (a "rest").

The notes are also different colors, so to further clarify which notes are
which, here is the color the notes are, from lower to upper:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING A SONG

It's really pretty simple.  Basically, I want all your information in one
line, same as in the FAQ.  If you do that, I can add 100 songs in about an
hour.  If all the submissions were "sloppy," it would take 5 hours.  So it
makes a difference!  Here's a summary, followed by some details in case you
want more information.

1(mandatory). Follow this order.
2(mandatory). Send to [email protected] and [email protected] For subject
use AC SONGS NEW
3(mandatory). Put the song title and artist (if applicable) in the body of
the email like this: Song Title (Artist).  If it's a video game, do game-
title, such as Zelda OOT-Epona's Song.
4(mandatory). Use lower case for the lower seven notes, upper case for the
upper six notes, - for extended ("held") notes, and z for silence ("rests")
5(optional). Provide a category.
6(optional). Score the ACCURACY (NOT how much you like it) of your song.
7(optional). If you want credit, tell me so, and how you want to be
identified.

Songs that do not follow the mandatory rules may be ignored. Multiple
versions will be accepted, as long as they are DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT.

If you've got a bunch of songs you want to submit, just put them all in one
email.

Rule 1 (mandatory).

PLEASE send your information in the same order as these rules.  It will make
setting this up SOOOOOOoooo much easier!  Put any "fluff" (bragging, begging,
etc.) at the END of your "song information."  It would help me a LOT if you
would put your information on a single line.  Proper spacing would help even
more, so it's just a quick cut-paste for me!

Rule 2 (mandatory). <no further explanation needed; see above>

Rule 4 (mandatory).

Use lower case to indicate the lower seven notes, and upper case to indicate
the higher 6 notes.  It should be obvious, but use – to indicate an extended
("held") note, and z to indicate silence (a "rest").

This is all a repeat, but to help clarify which notes are which, here is the
color the notes are, from lower to upper:

Rule 5 (optional).

Please provide a category (examples are video game, cartoon, movie, T.V.,
rock, punk, country, classical, jazz/blues, musical, etc.).  Feel free to
create a new category, but please understand that I may "lump" your song into
another category if I think the FAQ works better that way.

Rule 6 (optional).

Score the accuracy of your song.  This is NOT how much you like it! ("I LOVE
Zelda so I give it a 5! is WRONG.)  What I'm looking for here is HOW WELL
DOES THE AC VERSION MATCH THE "REAL" SONG?  The scale is something like this:

1 – Stinks, I can't tell what it is.
2 – Recognizable
3 – Pretty good
4 – Great match, any idiot would recognize it
5 – PERFECT!  Sounds EXACTLY like the real song (well a little beepy maybe
but otherwise perfect).

5's should be pretty rare.  Due to the length limit and unadjustable speed
that the notes play, it may simply be impossible to duplicate some songs well
in AC.

Also, I will only include the first 10 reviewers, so please don't email me
with a review if there are already 10 reviews listed.

Rule 7 (optional).

If you want credit, best is to just put the credit information at the end of
your one-line entry.  Or write in your email "Give credit to xxx."  Replace
the xxx with whatever you want to use to identify you (like your name, your
"internet name," OR your email address.  Don't ask me to include all those
though – there won't be room in the table.)  If you don't do this, you will
not get credit.

First person with the song gets credit.  Whining and "I made that song first"
emails, and even "I sent you that song first" emails will be ignored.  Sorry,
there just is no way to verify such things and I don't want to spend my time
settling arguments when I could be using it to put more songs in the FAQ! :)

(It's just more work than the one-line format, and who needs more work, eh?)

Obviously (I hope!) you have to know the song to score it.  If so, just do
this:

1(mandatory). Put the song in your game and listen to it! Doh!

Where <title> is the title (as it appears in the FAQ) of the song you're
scoring.  If there are multiple versions, please list the notes so I know
which one.  Better yet, review all the versions! ;)
5(mandatory). Score the ACCURACY (NOT how much you like it) of your song.

PLEASE! This is NOT how much you like it! ("I LOVE Zelda so I give it a 5! is
WRONG WRONG WRONG!)  What I'm looking for here is HOW WELL DOES THE AC

K.K. SLIDER SONGS (that you can play in your tape deck, stereo)

I'm no expert on this, but since it doesn't seem to be addressed in a FAQ
anywhere else, I thought it made sense to add it here, and make this a
"complete" song FAQ!

The guitar-playing dog known as K.K. Slider shows up at the train station
from 8:00 p.m. to midnight every Saturday night.  If you say you don't care
what song he plays, he will play a random song that he knows and give you the
music!  The song object looks like a yellow music note.

If you ask him to play your request, he's likely to play something and then
say he didn't know your song.  But if you request a song that he DOES know,
then he gives you the song to play in your whatever music-playing device you
have.  Also, I've heard that if you talk to him at EXACTLY 8:45 P.M., you'll
see Mr. Resetti flying through the credits.

Each player can only get one song per night, so only one song a week.
However, here are some ways to get multiple songs:
1. Someone emailed me that if you save and quit you can get another song.  If
true, this would by far be the easiest way.  But I have not tested this yet.
2. Since K.K. gives one song to EVERY HUMAN PLAYER, you can play as all four
players in your town to get four songs per week.
3. Another way to get more than one song a night, if you have multiple memory
cards, is to travel by train to the other town(s), and get a song from the
K.K. Slider in the other town(s).  I noticed that when I did this, K.K.
wasn't there!  But when I left the train station acre and came back, there he
was.  Also, remember that K.K. gives one song to every human player:  So, for
example, if you have two memory cards, with all 4 houses occupied, you can
get 16 songs a week by having every character get a song from both towns.

I'm sure there are other ways to get multiple K.K. songs (changing the clock,
using gameboy Island glitches, etc.).  But these are "honest, non-cheating"
ways.  :)

Below is the list of songs that K.K. knows.  Spelling, spacing, and periods
must be exact.  I don't know if this is all the songs, but I'm pretty sure
that it is.  I've gathered this from a variety of posts about K.K., but I'm a
long way from getting all the songs, since I usually don't cheat. *wink*
Corrections, additions, and comments are welcome!  A "secret song" is one
that K.K. will not play randomly, but only play if you request it.
