The Game Boy version of Double Dribble is somewhat similar to the NES
version, but I feel it is quite lacking. Movements are again clunky, with no
definitive way to try and steal the ball from the opposing team. There is
only mode of play, and that is to play a standard 5-player game against an
opponent. There are eight teams to choose from, but there really is no major
difference between each of them despite the statistics. It is fun if you are
looking for a simple basketball game to play, but I feel you can find better
than this. Like many Game Boy sports games, it is simply too slow and clunky
to be all that exciting.

==========
Game Modes
==========
On the title screen, you can either play against the computer or with another
player in Versus mode. Once you pick a mode, you will go to the team
selection screen.
There are eight teams to choose from, based on popular US franchises in a
way. Each team logo has a graph with their statistics next to it. After both
sides have picked a team, you can then choose the length of each quarter (5,
10, 15 minutes), and the computer's difficulty setting (1 is low, 3 is high).
With that done, the game will begin.

General Gameplay
================
Gameplay
--------
The game starts at center court, just before the referee tosses the ball up.
You can jump up by pressing B and attempt to take possession of the ball to
start. Since the game is played on the full court, as viewed from the side,
your hoop is on the right side to start with the opponent at the left end. If
you shoot the ball into the hoop, the other team will take possession of the
ball under your hoop for the return trip across the court. If you do not pass
the ball to a teammate from behind the hoop, you will be given a foul and the
other team will receive the ball. Likewise, if the ball goes out of bounds
for any reason (either by running with it or missing a shot), the other team
gets the ball.
There are five players on each team, as per a standard basketball game. You
will have control of the player with possession of the ball, while the others
will move appropriately (for the most part). If you are on offense, you can
pass the ball to another player, thus gaining control of them.
Fouls
-----
In this game, there are fouls (penalties) and foul shots. The fouls you can
get are as follows:
Back Pass: If you are forward court (on the half of the court where your
hoop is) and currently in possession of the ball, you can not
step back across the half court line to the opposite side.
Blocking: Physically blocking a player who is moving (usually results in
foul shots).
Traveling: This happens when you hold the ball without dribbling. This
happens when you jump to make a shot but do not actually make
the shot, thus holding the ball.
Usually if you get a foul, it means the other team will get the ball right
away. If it is a Blocking foul, the person who was fouled against will get to
make two foul shots from the line in front of their team's hoop.
Scoring
-------
As for scoring, regular shots are worth 2 points, and shots behind the outer
line (also called the three point line) are worth 3 points. The team with the
most points after four quarters of play wins the game. If there is a tie, it
can go to an overtime quarter in order to break it.
