Welcome all to my very first FAQ. I am Rowell Rivera, otherwise known as
Rick Rack Roo by certain individual on GameFAQs. Yes, there is Jump! Ultimate
Stars out but some people, such as myself, don't have the privelage of getting
that game. Jump Superstars is still a wonderful alternative. This guide is
mainly toguide you to use the wonderfully kick-ass character of Sakata Gintoki,
protagonist of the manga Gintama.
Mind you, I'm going to be doing this as seen fit, and hopefully you'll
find this guide useful in utlizing Sakata Gintoki. Sakata himself is a laughter
based koma and has an array of several attacks that can infuriate your enemy.
I don't really know what to say as of now, so on to the guide.

III. What's a Gintoki?

Sakata Gintoki is, as stated before, the protagonist of the manga Gintama.
Gintoki is a freelancer that will take on any job at all. His biggest feature
is, by far, his naturally permed silver hair. He has his business in the name
Yorozuya Gin-chan where he has employed a semi-forced apprenctice, Shimura
Shinpachi, and a teenaged alien girl with inhuman strength, Kagura.
Gintoki, in his past, fought for the government against the Amanto, the
invading aliens during the Edo era of Japan. Long gone is that though and he
keeps his job as a freelancer. I'd say more but you should really patronize
Viz and get there version of Gintama which I hear is coming out. Or if you're
like me, get some scanlations or fansubs which I do not support of... >_> lol

IV. Basics
-----------------------------
I'm going to presume you're a bit of a dolt here, which I hope you aren't.
In Jump Superstars, your _deck_ consists of a 5 by 4 area. In this area you put
in your _koma_, which are basically the deck building blocks. They range in
shape and size, from 1 block to 7 blocks. You need to devise a way to fit your
acquired koma into it to its maximum potential. The Koma also have a rock paper
scissors thing going on in the form of Koma natures. Power beats Knowledge,
Knowledge beats Laughter, and Laughter beats Power. Really, quite basic.

V. How to Attain Gintoki
-----------------------------
Now then, to business. Sakata must be attained in his stage in the
Grasslands. To get there you first must beat the mission 1-3 in the Final
Battleground Area. From there, you'll find a warp where you'll find yourself
in the near vicinity of mission 3-2 in the Grasslands. Now I'll just list
where to get Gintoki's komas.
Gintoki Help Koma:
Grasslands, Mission 3-2, by defeating the opponent, simple as that.
Gintoki 2 Block Support Koma:
Grasslands, Mission 3-2, by never getting ringed out, again, simple as that.
Gintoki 3 Block Support Koma:
Grasslands, Mission 3-2, by only using only nature based attacks, try to use
only Special moves or Support Koma.
Gintoki 4 Block Battle Koma:
Grasslands, Mission 3-2, by beating your opponent ONLY with ring outs, which
can easily be done by abusing Naruto and his Y attack while right next to the
pit in the middle of the stage.
Gintoki 5 Block Battle Koma:
Grasslands, Mission 3-3, by never double jumping, which is a bit self
explanatory.

VI. Gintoki's Non Battle Koma
-----------------------------
Gintoki has 5 different koma for you to incorporate into your deck. This
may not seem like a lot compared to some characters such as Goku or Luffy but
it still gives you quite a bit of choice. I'm not going to go into great detail
but here are the following non-battle koma and their effects.
Gintoki Help Koma:
The Gintoki help koma allows your character to be immune to knockdowns by
your opponent for a short time.
Gintoki 2-Block Support Koma:
The Gintoki 2-block Support Koma has Gintoki throwing his wooden sword at
an opponent for 15 damage to Power based koma and 10 damage to Laughter and
Knowledge based komas. The sword's reach can go about half of the stage and has
an added effect of not allowing your opponent to do special attacks for a short
period of time.

Gintoki 3-Block Koma:
The Gintoki 3-Block support koma has Gintoki riding on his scooter towards
any and all opponents and then thwacking with his sword. It does 1 damage, for
getting hit by his scooter, to all natures and does 30 more damage to Power
based koma and 20 damge to Knowledge and Laughter based komas.

VII. Gintoki's Battle Koma
-----------------------------
Firstly, I'll just list down Gintoki's moveset in the following format:
[How to perform i.e. Side+B, Neutral Y, etc.]:

Damage: [Towards Power Based Koma], [Towards Knowledge and Laughter Based Koma]
B moves:
Neutral B
Gintoki does a small kick towards the direction he's facing.
Damage: 6, 4
Side+B
Gintoki does a quick sword swipe towards the direction he's facing
Damage: 6, 4
Up+B
Gintoki takes out a small, red bomb and after half a second, it explodes and
damages all opponents right next to him for up to two hits of equal damage.
Damage: 9, 6
Guard+B
Gintoki performs a quick headbutt.
Damage: 13, 9
Aerial B
Gintoki swings his sword downwards and is able to knock his opponent through
platforms.
Damage: 7, 5
ForwardForward+B
Gintoki runs towards the opponent and rams into them.
Damage: 12, 8
Y moves:
Neutral Y
Gintoki swings his sword towards where he is facing. This attack is able to
charge up for nearly double its attack power.
Damage: 18 or 37, 12 or 25
Side+Y
Gintoki throws his sword towards where he is facing. The sword's reach is about
half the screen
Damage: 15, 10
Up+Y
Gintoki takes out a small, red bomb and throws it up in the air. The longer you
hold Y the higher the bomb will be able to go.
Damage: 18, 12
Guard+Y
Gintoki performs a headbutt.
Damage: 19, 13
Aerial Y
Gintoki either throws a metal drum forward that can hit thrice for the same
amount of damage or a white log with a face that sends the opponent straight up
for a short distance and can hit twice.
Damage: 15, 10
ForwardForward+Y
Gintoki runs towards the opponent and rams into them. This attack covers more
ground when he runs and knocks the opponent down.
Damage: 18, 12
X moves:
The X moves of Gintoki differ for each koma, either 4 block or 5 block. I'll
seperate the two for easier discerning.
4-Block Koma:

Neutral X:
Gintoki suddenly starts to run and hit with his sword. He runs back and forth
five times and his final strike is able to knock the opponent through the
platforms in the stage.
Damage: 4 and 5 and 4 and 5 and 12, 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 8
Up+X:
Gintoki holds up a cup of his beloved parfait. If the opponent hits him though,
he'll drop the parfait and hit the opponent up to seven times.
Damage: 1 and 5 and 4 and 5 and 4 and 5 and 19
1 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 13
5-Block Koma:

Neutral X:
Basically, it's the same attack as the 4 block koma but instead of attacking
even if the enemy is not there, the attack will only initiate when Gintoki runs
into an opponent. The attack hits up to nine times this time. Once for running
into the opponent, and 8 times for sword hits. It still shares the effect of
knocking opponents through platforms.
Damage: 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 3 and 16
2 and 2 and 2 and 2 and 2 and 2 and 2 and 2 and 11
Up+X:
Gintoki reads his manga and immediately gains regenerative status. During his
reading he'll gain a bit of his special bar back and seem to charge power.
After a few more seconds he'll finish reading and gain invincibility status.
Damage: none
TAG TEAM ATTACK:
This is the attack in which Gintoki teams up with a specific character to
create a special move by tapping the Effort-Victory-Friendship koma while they
are being positioned towards two battle koma. If the character that is paired
up with Gintoki is anybody besides Kakashi from Naruto, he'll proceed to
perform his 2-Block Support Koma move. Not very impressive to say the least.
When paired up with Kakashi though, they'll perform a unique move called
Reading While Standing Paradise. During this move, Kakashi and Gintoki will
meet and start reading Kakashi's own manga. During this time, they'll be a bit
defenseless. After about 10 seconds, they'll clasp hands and you'll be granted
invinciblity and an amount of your special bar restored. Not too impressive
either. :/

VIII. Utilizing Gintoki
-----------------------------
In this section, I'll give you some advice on how to utilize Gintoki to
the fullest extent as best as I can.
- Firstly, you'll want to increase his health with the two following koma from
the Gintama manga - Katsura and Hasagawa. They're located third to the last and
the last spots on the Gintama list.
- Gintoki also powers up the the Shinpachi and Kagura support koma. If you
incorporate these two support koma, you'll definitely get a nice special boost.
- Now, on terms of fighting, you'll have to get used to close range fighting
considering Gintoki's fairly limited range in fighting. In terms of combos, you
might consider abusing B, Side+B, Y, and finally either X or Side+Y. Another
thing to consider abusing is his Aerial Y attack. You'll get used to gauging
the attack soon enough. Another strategy would be hiding your ownself under a
platform full of combatants. While they're fighting, you could always use your
Up+Y attack. And again while in a large crowd of fighters, try to take 'em all
down with a well placed X attack. This can help you do mass attacks. Which is
fairly obvious.
- If ever you make a Super Tag attack based deck... I advise you to be fairly
careful on when you use it. And some good support koma to help hide yourself.
I can't be any more obvious than that, really.

When creating Decks, firstly, remember that you should support Gintoki as well.
