The Beginning - Duke Averay's Mansion (BS01)
==============================================================================
The legend of Bel Lenora recalls a mighty sage, a man with ashen eyes, a
crafter of armaments of wondrous power...
Zodiat, the first and greatest king of country led his people to a land free
from the spirits of evil.
Yet hundreds of years later, evil has reemerged in Bel Lenora...
The traitor general, Vai the magic less, and his army of curse bringers, have
drained the peoples' spirits, leaving death and destruction in their wake.
The great Duke Averay ultimately defeated and banished the evil Vai, but now
another magic-less man walks among the peoples of Bel Lenora and though he is
the adopted son of the Duke for many Bel Lenorians his mere presence conjures
memories of war, devastations, and Vai the Cursed...
We are shown a group of students training:
Teacher : One! Two! Three! Keep your swings quick!
Eventually the student on the right gets in a hit.
Teacher: Swords down! that's enough. Good work. Next!
The main character, Kairu, comes up to the square with a student:
Student: Hmph. I don't know why we have to train with YOU.
Kairu: ...
Teacher: Begin!
Okay, here's our first fight of the game. Now show that student why he
shouldn't mouth off to you! You'll have to wait for your turn to come up, but
once it does, go ahead and attack him! You don't have any combos right now, of
course, but you do have your starting skill: Averian Thrust, which does damage
to multiple targets. Of course all you have to do is simply attack to win
easily!
After the battle you'll gain 1 XP. Yea! More dialogue:
Student: Wheeze... Wheeze... Arg.. Magic less fights... are the only ones YOU
will ever win....
Kairu: ....
Mysterious Man comes out: Good day everyone.
All: good day Lord Averay!
Lord Avery: How is training coming along today?
Teacher: Ah, very well my lord! I believe we shall soon have proper candidates
for the Royal Guards.
Lord Avery: That's good. The king has been very demanding lately about new
guards.
Lord Avery turns to look at you, stating .....
Teacher: My Lord?
Lord Avery: .... How is Kairu doing lately?
Teacher: His sword technique is improving steadily, my Lord.
Lord Avery: .... That's good.
Teacher: Um, good work everyone! This will be enough for...
Lord Avery: Wait. You two spar again. But this time, magic will be allowed.
Student: But Sir...!
Teacher: Sir, his sword technique is top of the class but...
Lord Avery: Even an excellent swordsman will have a hard time without magic.
His condition is no excuse.
Student: (Sneer) Let us see who is the better fighter now!
Lord Avery: Begin!
Uh-oh. This doesn't sound good. Go ahead and fight again, just doing your own
normal attacks. It really doesn't matter what you do as the student's Flamma
attack will KO you in two moves. After the battle we are treated to some more
dialog:
Kairu: ...
Lord Avery: ....
Student: Hah... All the sword skills in the world will never be able to defeat
magic.
Kairu: ...
The teacher looks around for a bit..
Teacher: I... We will continue this tomorrow. Class dismissed.
The students start to move around, a couple of them coming over to make
comments to you. Finally Lord Avery asks you to come meet him in his office
once you're rested.
Kairu: Yes sir. *Look, he's not a mute!*
With that Lord Avery leaves, and the only nice student comes up and asks you
if you're all right. How nice of him. Now we finally gain control of Kairu.
Lets go over the menu (X button) really quick:
First option with the hand shows what items you have and can use. The book
lets you equip skills and combos. The armor is where you go to change your
equipment and items (You do have to equip items to use them in battle, up to
four items!). The little man figure is your current status, while the arrows
let you change out party members. The big question mark is where you can
change some game options, including the ever-important battle style (where
enemies will or won't attack you while your using the menu). And finally the
quill can be used to save, load, and use a quick save. The menu will also show
you a quick look at your characters and money, as well as how long you've been
playing.
Feel free to roam around and see just how much the residents of the mansion
really don't care for you. Head west and up the first door you see into the
mansion. Go up the stairs and go through the right door to the dining room,
heading past the hungry students to the kitchen in the north-east corner and
you can find another blue herb (Standard herb, heals 40 HP) in the first pot
on the left. Take a right out to the farm area and head into the shack on the
right, checking the barrels for a blue root (Nice herb, heals 120 HP).
You can go back to the main mansion entrance and take the left door, going
through the magician's hallway to a library (Averay mansion - magic study),
where you'll finally meet Aurora next to a sprawled-out dude.
Aurora: Kairu! Kairu did you see that? Of course I'm still undefeated.
Kairu: Aurora, always so modest.
Aurora: Who's next?
Kairu: Hmm, don't you think you're being a bit hard on them?
You can talk to the lower guard to hear his women-problems (eww...)
In the lower bookcase there are some interesting books you can read through
detailing some of the rumors of the first king and some magic basics. Not that
you can do magic or anything.
There's also a bookcase on the upper level, right hand side that Kairu states
"I think my skills have improved", but by looking at his stats, I noticed no
improvements. Might as well go check it out just in case.
On the lower left side of the room, talk to the man by the bulls eye blue ring
to learn about save points and save your game.
Head back to the main entrance and go up the stairs and to the left to the
students quarters. Here you can see four students playing strip poker. Also,
to the left of the poker players through the wall you can find a couple of
chests: grab the antidote (cures poison, duh!) and the dart (expendable dart,
ranged damage). You'll also meet a student who is standing in front of a chest
who states he was supposed to watch the cook's kids for extra money but
doesn't know where they are. We'll find them!
Before that head up the stairs to the second floor. The paths to the left and
right are the duke's guest room and music room. Further in you can find your
bedroom on the right, and can read Kairu's diary for some back story. There's
also a dart in one of the jars. Across from you is Aurora's room, with a
klepto maid! There are also some more tutorial books:
On offensive gear: weapons with elemental properties can deal extra elemental
damage on top of their physical damage.
On defensive gear: wearing defensive equipment with elemental properties can
make you immune and even absorb elemental damage.
Further in on the left is the duke's room with some books on the cursed war.
On the left is the duke's armory, which has some treasure chests you can't get
to and another blue root in a box on the right. You can also find the cook's
kids in here, so go back and tell the baby sitter, who will get a bit
defensive! Leave the room and come back to gain access to a blue herb from the
chest and an antidote from the crate.
At the very end of the 2nd floor is the duke's study where you were supposed
to meet him. Go in.
Duke: Kairu, you did well at practice today.
Kairu: thank you, my lord.
Duke: I have finally received permission from the spirit temple to allow you
to enter.
Kairu: The spirit temple?
Duke: I am hoping the priests there will be able to help you, my son.
Kairu: I hope so too, father
Duke: The area is infested with monsters, be careful on the way, son. you
should stop at the Bel Lenora item shop, I had them prepare some items for
you.
Sounds like we have something to do! Once you head out of the mansion, you'll
find some additional people hanging about, ready to offer you game tips, so
soak up as much or as little as you think you need. Before you head out, Kairu
will remark Bel Lenora is southeast of the mansion, while the Spirit Temple is
north east of there. So head out south bound..
Also note that you can RUN from battles by holding B and waiting until you
escape.
==============================================================================
Bel Lenora & The Spirit Temple (BS02)
==============================================================================
Finally you'll get to the city of Bel Lenora, walk up the stairs to teleport
to the town. In front of you the king's castle is locked up for now, so go to
either side to access a main part of town (both portals lead to the same
area). Down and to the left is the inn, where you can stay for 10 gold.
To the right is the general store, where you can pick up the goods Duke Averay
got for you: three blue herbs, an antidote, and a scarecrow (fully heals an
ally at a save point).
The general store also sells some items that you've seen (Including a new one,
totem, which fully heals your party at a save point) and some new weapons and
armors:
All these are a bit too pricy, your starting equipment is just as good. Don't
be fooled by the copper charm, you want to keep your avery signet to resist
freeze.
Further south are houses. In the right most house is another dart. The left
house has an inventor who asks you if you need fine armor. In return he'll ask
for a blue herb, antidote, and scarecrow, all of which you should have by now.
You can choose to give them to him and he asks you to return later.
In the left house is a box that the owner claims can't be opened, not even by
magic.
The far left house belongs to yet another Aurora lover...
Head down to more housing, mostly getting to hear more bad things about you.
Head to the left most house to find a scarecrow in a bottle, than head to the
basement, and by the beds search the southern wall for a secret area, giving
you a silver tiara, blue herb, dart, poison dart, and med antidote.
After your plundering, grab a few blue herbs to be safe and head out to the
north east, into the forest, to arrive at Spirit Mountain.
A few steps in you'll see a treasure chest with a blue herb, so grab it.
Further on the path to the right is a chest with a dart for you as well.
Keep going and you'll see a split on the left, so go down and around for a
copper charm. Go around the bridges and south to another chest with a blue
herb and than finally head north into the Spirit Shrine.
Head up and to the left for a free inn and a INT POTION in the box. Up north
is an uji nut (heals 50 SP) and Oppa Oil (revives an ally).
Now go to the high priest, who tells you about the crystal, than invites you
to see it to see if it can help you. Unfortunately you can't hear it.
==============================================================================
Duke Averay's Mansion AGAIN and Axunburg Forest (BS03)
==============================================================================
Heading back to the mansion shows you returning at night. You are told Duke
Averay is waiting up for you in his study. If you try to steer off the main
course you are told to go to the study, but head to the music room and go
south out to the balcony, a maid, Priss, will give you a fur cap she made,
which increases def and cold RES, so equip it. You'll head up and tell the
Duke of your failure, than go to bed.
The next morning you are called to the Duke's office, who asks you to head to
Axunburg forest and deal with the sudden monster uprising, which you readily
agree to. The nest of monsters is in the western forest, but head to Axunburg
to get further directions. If you try to head out of the castle, Aurora will
ask what you're doing and join in the fun:
Aurora forcefully joins the party!
She joins at lvl 4, and now you can press R to change party member, remember
some people react differently to different party members!
Note: Person in library says "Funny to see you here, Kairu" even if you're
Aurora.
You can visit the teacher in the library with Aurora to get 2 free blue
herbs...
Also be sure to go to the music room and speak with the Aurora admirer for a
free fancy whip! Equip that ASAP!
Check on her equipment than head out!
(Give Aurora the copper charm, just for the little extra defense).
Aurora, as you know, is a fire user. She starts out with Flamma, a single
target fireball attack. She also gets Curo Fira, a single target healing
spell. Since when can people heal with fire?
Also, give Aurora the INT potion, it ups INT by +2.
Note: You can go talk to your dad as Aurora, but he'll forbid you to go with
Kairu. Don't worry though, she's not the type to actually follow orders :)
Start heading to Axunburg...
Once Kairu levels up to level 4 you will learn Knight's Stance, which protects
allies from attacks! Think of it kind of like COVER from Final Fantasy IV,
without the need to have your allies be close to death.
After fighting together for a bit, Kairu and Aurora learn the combo skill
Flamma Thrust!
Flamma thrust is a large area explosion of fire and blade. Devastating to
these ice monsters we are fighting.
Once you get to Axunburg, you'll see it's surrounded by a magical force field,
which Aurora can walk through but Kairu can't!!! The knight tries to tell you
that the force field keeps only monsters out, but Aurora knows better,
threatening the knight to let Kairu in. And, of course, he doesn't, so Aurora
fries him..
Now feel free to explore Axunburg...
Item store new items:
Jade necklace: 50% protection against poison
Laced boots: speed boost
In the armory you can find a free blue herb and dart in the treasure chests.
In the armory, be sure to grab the wool gloves for Aurora, no need to let an
empty space go unequipped. If you have the money, your next buy should be
either a new weapon or armor for Kairu, but most of these bonuses are slight
for now and can be skipped.
South of the armory is a poor woman missing her husband. you can find a torch
(flame attack) in the vase here, than check out the house left of the square
for two antidotes.
South of the square, the top vase has a blue root for you. Even further south
is a copper charm in the right vase...
Go into the main house, in here you'll find a dart by the girl in the bed. If
you head left into the wall at the top bookcase, you'll find a hidden path
leading to a blue herb. Here you'll find out that the king is doing nothing to
help the citizens of axunburg, half the town has fled, and the Knights making
the barrier are from Duke Averay.
Before you head out, head south of the main entrance to find a ruby necklace
hidden in the forest. Look for the small break in the trees and walk through
to find the tan chest. The ruby necklace prevents confusion, charm, and sleep,
so give it to Aurora, your only healer...
Head northwest into the forest to find the western forest!
Head up the curvy left path for a totem, blue root, and torch. Now go back to
the entrance and head right and up. To the left is a little grove with a blue
herb inside (it's actually growing here! au natural!).
Head up to a three way junction and head all the way left and down to find
some oppa oil. Now head to the northwest for an exit to western forest - lake.
To the north east of the entrance/area is a chest with insect hide for Kairu.
When you get to the lake, you'll view a scene where Aurora and Kairu note that
the ice is cracked in some places, so you'll have to be careful where you
step...
Stepping on a crack will put you back to the entrance to the lake, so if you
do go left and back to the lake..
Now, there's a chest in the north east, so let's get it.
The best way to get to the chest is this:
(Never step on the cracks until I say so in the steps)
1. Go to the west of the cracked box your in and step through the western-
most crack heading north.
2. Do the same thing in this box as number 1 (repeat instructions).
3. Now see that narrow strip of land stretching east in this box? Be
careful and get on it, than head north (must be careful here).
4. Now carefully move yourself around this island counter clockwise, to the
big open area (no ice cracking involved). Now go to the narrow strip of
land on the east and head east...
5. Now head north to the treasure!
Here take your well earned worn bracelet. Equip it if you want, it gives
slight fire protection and better defense at the expense of your cold
protection.
To get to the next area from the entrance, just head east whenever possible
and than around the boulder (no ice cracking by the boulder), and than north.
Save at the save point
To the northeast is a yellow save point, which heals your entire party. Sweet.
To the east/north-east you'll find the entrance to the lair where the mother
awaits. Once you meet it Kairu will tell Aurora to stand back, but she's not
behind you anymore! And with that the beast attacks!
------------
Boss: Mother
------------
Mother starts off with DEF + and will use Eyes Slasher a lot, blinding Kairu.
It also uses Physicus Absorbus, draining your health and healing itself..
After a few rounds, Mother will use Assault, damaging you to 1 HP. Kairu will
than state:
Kairu: Physical attacks do no damage!
I... I can't.. win!
Than, miraculously as Mother approaches you, a powerful lightning shock will
kill Mother. Well look, Duke Averay is here to save us. He lets Aurora go as
she runs to you, than you pass out...
Aurora blames her father, stating that he knew the monster couldn't be
defeated without magic.. Duke Averay stays quiet on the matter.
Back in Kairu's room, Aurora and the Duke are still talking (more like just
Aurora). You finally wake up, and state that the Duke was merely trying to
draw the magic out of you, hoping the battle would force you to use it, but
saw that it wouldn't and saved you. Than you'll collapse again.
When you wake up for the third time, a maid will tell you that the Duke is
waiting for you in his study...
The Duke than states that he has one more task for you, and to meet him at the
cursed caves, southwest of the mansion, and that this is for you alone. You
state you'll meet him there...
==============================================================================
The Cursed Caves (BS04)
==============================================================================
As you reach the Cursed Caves, you meet Duke Averay, who walks you to the
glowing stone, stating he has something to show you. As you look at the stone,
the Duke quickly draws his sword, stepping behind you..
The Duke explains that the King has ordered you to be banished to the inside
of the cave, as he unseals it. He goes on to say this is the same spot he
vanquished Vai, and hopes that one day you'll be able to unseal yourself using
magic. You agree and don't hold it against him.
The Duke is obviously upset about doing this, and insists you take his sword,
which has been passed down from father to son for generations, before he seals
you in the cave..
As you enter the cave and look at the sword, a strange figure causes the sword
to float and talks to you.. commenting that you have such bad blood for a
sweet child.. than says you must gather his pieces..
You're taken from this by Aurora's voice, as surprisingly she is in the cave
with you and refuses to leave you, even though you attempt to tell her to go
home. Instead she runs into the cave... looks like you have a partner after
all.
You're automatically equipped with the Sword of Averay, which is a nice boost
from your old training sword (no need to buy long sword).
Chase after her to let her join your party.
Another quick note here, you may note that you will start battles ALREADY
having some NEGATIVE status. This is story-related, as you are "cursed", so
hang in there.
Head up to the cave. The left cave has a heal circle as well as a save circle.
If you go a little ways in you'll find a blue herb on the skeleton. Backtrack
and go to the path on the right, check the skeleton for a blue root. Also, up
near the top you can actually walk through the right wall to a chest with oppa
oil!
Head out the left exit and over the gorge to get a med antidote from the
skeleton, than head back to the main room, and than north you'll see more
skeletons. The upper right one has a fur cap while the lower one has a blue
herb.
Head up through the hole, than further into the cave...
You'll be below the blue root skeleton, so head west and down the slope and
you'll be in a room with a lot of cave doors. The right cave has a skeleton
with a med antidote in it. Watch out for cursed slimes in this area, keep your
hp up above 30 at all times.
Down south you can go back to the cave room, but below the main rooms. Move
left to the other cave door, proceeding left to reach an area entitled ???
Walk the narrow path as Aurora goes on to investigate things. As you look at
the skeleton, your sword draws itself and powers some sort of device, sending
your party to Seremaze - Clearing.
==============================================================================
Ah, the new world: Seremaze, Fort Domfriu, and Cascadilla (BS05)
==============================================================================
Somehow, you think this is all her fault, so you argue with her while she
remarks there is no snow (also notice the larger world map). But before you
head off, your head hurts again and the shadowy man comes to talk to you (to
wrest you... from your shadows...).
As soon as your in this new area, it seems Kairu can use Glasius, a freezing
icicle attack that targets a medium area for 15 SP. Kairu learns "Dash
Strike", a long distance attack on a single enemy for 12 SP as well, which is
our new Kairu ranged attack of choice when we need it.
To get out of this place head north up the rampy step thingies, than left, and
up some more. You'll enter into a staged battle showing you that Kairu now
knows ice magic, even though he thinks it is because of the sword.
From the save point there is another fancy whip in a chest to the east. Head
south and out of this area...
As you go into this area, you'll meet Nephi, who immediately tries to flirt
with Aurora... When they tell Nephi they are from Bel Lenora, Nephi states that
although he's traveled throughout the world, he's never heard of Bel Lenora.
Nephi states you are in Seremaze, in Artania. After telling Nephi how you got
here, he states there is a town called Fort Domfriu a short way away. Nephi
gives us a totem and tells us to head there.
Fort Domfriu is northeast of the forest.
If you head west and north into the forest, than continue along the path, you
can find a STR potion. Give it to Kairu to add +2 STR.
Aurora learns SLAP at level 10, slap targets a single enemy for 8 SP, causing
confusion and charm...
You also can head south, down the steps and past the grove on the east, and
head east and north to find a blue root..
Keep heading east and north to find a hazy whip in a chest.. equip this ASAP,
it deals blindness as well as making you slow...
Heading south and east leads you to another screen. Heading south from here
leads to a healing circle from here you can talk to the big beetle thing to
get into a fight with GUARDIAN.
--------------
BOSS: Guardian
--------------
OK, here's the plan, all you need to do is split Kairu and Aurora up, send
Kairu up to the top right and cast Glaicius as much as you can. If the
Guardian uses Airus Toxis, heal with Aurora immediately. Sometimes Airus Toxis
will put you to sleep, but with your team split up, just wait it out for 2
rounds. Ideally you'll get one character close to the GUARDIAN and he'll use
some physical attacks, as they are really weak, and we want this. Multiple
uses of Airus Toxus can wipe us out at this point.
Pelt the GUARDIAN with magic attacks. Kairu's Glaicius and Aurora's Flamma,
and soon the Guardian will fall..
GUARDIAN gives you 100 XP and 100 GOLD..
--Howdy folks! Bacter taking over!--
OK so I'm assuming you've just completed trashing the guardian, and good job
for doing it! It took me like three tries because I am a complete wuss.
So let's leave!
==WORLD MAP==
You're in a big forest, that much is clear, and the only way to go is east. So
head that way to the plains. The monsters are identical to the ones you'd find
in Seramaze, so nothing too spectacular to report there. You can head east
into the desert if you wish (you should not wish) but the monsters there will
clean your clock! If you can pull it off they can be good for some real quick
leveling, but make sure you can get back up north. In fact why don't you head
there right now to...
==FORT DOMFRIU==
I love how long it takes Aurora to work out that these people are horribly
magic-phobic. Anyway, the fort is a very welcome rest and recovery place.
You'll have more than enough money to stay at the inn, so you can make some
forays into the wilderness. Since things will get dicey, you want to take this
opportunity to get all the stuff here.
Head up to the northwest corner of the fort to grab an iron net in a barrel,
sidle along the edge of the west cliff to find a hidden passage to get a
strength wrist. In the northwest house there is a dart in a pot. Check in the
long barracks for a blue herb. In the barracks to the east there is a silk
dress, and a torch in a barrel to the southeast.
Got all that? Good!
Now you got to do some things to advance the plot
-At the inn, talk to the injured man. Aurora will use magic to heal him.
-In the SE part of town there'll be some guys struggling with a barrel.
Talk to them to have Aurora levitate it.
-After doing the other two, talk to the bartender at the inn.
After this try to leave via the south entrance and a guard will comment on
hearing a comrade fall to the east. I thought he meant east of town like in
the desert, but he means the SE part of town. Head on over there and it's a
trap!
After some scenes, Kairu is in an cell alone. Kill some time then check the
door. Nephi will temporarily join the party in exchange for the Sword of
Averay. Seems like kind of a harsh bargain, but eh go for it!
Kairu and Nephi climb to the east side of the map. Grab the oppa oil to the
south and head north for more scenes!
Your party is now Aurora, Kairu, and Nephi. These mountains will kick your
butt so don't be afraid of running if you're too low on health and save up
some scarecrows or a totem. When you come to a fork, take the east path to get
a Ruby Necklace. Back west, you'll see a waterfall. Go up the left side of the
room and take the west door to a waterslide leading for a liquid eye
accessory. After backtracking to the waterfall, go east across the pond, then
climb down for a new sword for Kairu- the toothed sword! Climb back up and go
east. Keep going until you find a save point!
Save, and use a totem here. Once you're ready inspect the glowy wall, and lose
Nephi and gain Isa. GET READY FOR GARGAN!
--Bacter Signing out--
------------
Boss: Gargan
------------
A pretty easy fight if you ask me, Isa joins you in this battle. Aurora's
magic devastates the beast, but by the time I fought it, I had no magic left.
That's ok, though, because you can simply use regular attacks. Group up your
party members in front of the beast and attack. When you get low on health,
simply use Isa's Curo Orbis skill, which heals all party members in a radius
around Isa. Keep your HP up above 90 near the end, as Gargan uses Tremor when
he dies. Soon the beast will fall..
1000 XP 500 gold
After the battle, Isa introduces herself as a general for the Genufa, while
Kairu and Aurora decide that telling people they are from Bel Lenora has
caused enough trouble. After that Aurora will claim you as her personal
servant and Isa will join you.
As you head out of the Gargan chamber, your curse will act up again with the
shadowy figure coming out and stating "Such... Evil Blood... You must... Bring
me my parts....".
Isa starts out at lvl 11 with the skills Curo Orbis (awesome heal skill), Aira
Toxus (Blast of Sleeping Gas, medium range), and Shock Slash (a beam of
kinetic energy on a single target).
Also, might as well give Isa a fur cap, as she has no headgear, and wool
gloves, as she has nothing there either. You can give her Leather armor as
well, if you wish.
==============================================================================
Orchid Valley and Tradefair (BS06)
==============================================================================
Head to the exit to go to Orchid Valley.
Down south there is a sheep that thinks it is a cow. Up North there is a
barrel by the tent with a Lucivar Herb in it ( Heals 80 HP + Status). In the
hut you can rest up for free and even find another Lucivar Herb.
If you head back right past the bridge and north you'll find an item shop
where the villagers will sell their extra herbs. They also have a flower
circlet which resists poison. I'd give this to Isa and Aurora. There are also
some new accessories to be had which can resist paralysis (Bone Necklace), and
make the user berserk (Scarlet
Petal), but for now I'm keeping a ruby necklace on Kairu and Aurora while
letting Isa keep her necklace.
To the Northwest you can find the Elder's house and a cursed barrel. Go to the
cave by the Elder's house to find a treasure trove containing another Lucivar
Herb, a Sunlight Robe (I gave to Aurora) and a Uji Nut.
To the South of the Elder's house you can go down some terrain to another
cave, where random battles start up again.
After fighting with Isa for awhile, you'll learn some new combo moves!
Isa and Kairu learn Averian Curo. A healing wing heals your allies, All
targets.
Isa and Aurora learn Curo Maxima. Dual healing powers cure numerous status
ailments. All targets.
Go down to the chest to grab a Uji Nut. Head further down through the hole.
A few more battles will net you another combo.
Isa and Kairu learn Storm Strike: A storm of sleeping gas assails the enemies.
Causes sleep, small area.
Head out the cave exit to the right to get to the chest you probably saw on
the cliff in the village. Inside is Typhoon, whistling death (I love these
weapon descriptions), a weapon for Isa.
Back in the cave is another chest below you, it has a Lucivar Herb in it.
Head down a bit further. If you go UP the ramp you'll find a Haze Whip. Go
through the hole in the ramp to continue outside and make your way to the
world map.
While your in the descent part of the cave, Cascadilla 2F, make sure to check
the left portion of the caves for a hidden exit leading to a bone necklace on
the cliff.
Like the Elder said, to get out of the village keep going through these caves
of Cascadilla, the path is pretty straight forward, you'll just have to deal
with a large amount of enemies, so be prepared with enough blue herbs.
Seriously, with the amount of battles in this game I bought around 80 of them
and still had enough money left over. Also, remember your party members will
recover SP as they walk, so keep that in mind.
Once you reach the world map, go on and save since you've probably leveled up
to around 14-15. The enemies out here are a bit tougher, so don't be too shy
with the herbs or healing.
If you head right all that you can access is the Cytherian Bridge, which the
Sammarkans have closed off for.. Bridge Repairs.
Head up and Left to the town of Tradefair. Here Isa warns you not to make any
moves to draw attention to yourselves (which will be hard for Aurora) as the
Sammarkans have taken over the town and that her contact at the pub should be
able to procure a ship for you! Cool!
There is also a scarecrow in the right barrel to the right of the entrance.
Head left to hear about Pirates and that nasty witch in Fort Domfriu. You can
find a torch in a chest to the left of the soldiers near the tent. The
building by the tent is an item store, so grab what you need.
If you head left, you'll see the entrance to the docks, but before exploring
head north to the sewers. Here you can go through the ??? hallways, which lead
to the right side of town, until you see a bar in the southern wall. Go
through here to access the sewers. Go down the stairs and grab the Catalogue 1
in the left barrel. Go through the door to another hallway. Here you can find
a storage area with nothing good, and another door to the right. Here you'll
find a chest with an enchanted ring, which gives you a magic attack boost
(good for Aurora).
Head back out to where you started from. There are a lot of stores in
Tradefair- Downtown for you to explore. By the docks is the accessory store,
which sells some things you've already seen (jade necklace, bone necklace), as
well as the liquid eye (water element protection) and blazed eye (fire element
protection). They also have a sage ring (massive ailment protection) that costs
way too much right now.
Up north of the accessory shop is a bunch of crates and barrels, the crate by
the stairs has a iron net in it. Up the stairs and to the north you'll find
Rogurd's Docks. The huge house by Rogurd's docks is Rogurd's mansion, which
you can't explore right now as the butler says the mansion isn't giving tours.
Head down the right steps to explore some of Tradefair's houses.
In the first house you'll find a dust bomb (blinds target) on the first floor
in the pot closest to the kitchen's stove. Upstairs in the southern bedroom is
a chest with a blue root in it. Go up the ladder to the 3rd floor, where
you'll find a blue root and a worn bracelet.
The next house over you'll see a soldier robbing a poor old couple for the
good of Sammerkan. Apparently the soldier didn't grab everything since there
is an antidote in the barrel on the right. There is also a copper charm in a
chest upstairs. How could you take what little this old couple has though?
You can find this soldier to the left of the first house we visited and choose
to get the old couple's stuff back. You'll get into a fight with the
Lieutanant.
Reward: 90 xp, 110 gold, blue potion.
You'll obtain belongings after the fight, and can return them to the old
couple. They'll even give you a 500 gold reward.
Head out of this house and visit the Rich House to the south. Here the man
will ask you to find his son, Neet, and he'll give you a reward. He also
mentions Neet's hair is blue and he wears a purple vest, so he is easy to
spot. The chests here have a MED Antidote, Long Sword, and Uji Nut. Upstairs
you'll find a cursed dart (dispels good status) and some oppa oil.
Now we're done with the houses, to the south you can find an weapon store, The
Finest Blade Shop, where the Sammarkand's regulate what weapons can be sold.
There's a new weapon for each party member, if you can afford it. In my
opinion, get Aurora's weapon first, Rusty Chains, as they give the biggest
attack boost, Kairu and Isa's weapons are only a minor improvement.
Keep checking out the shops, to the left you'll find the Fine Clothier.
There's some good equipment here, the Chain mail is a nice improvement, get
them if you can. The velvet gloves are a cheap improvement, but we'll find
another store later on, so wait and compare. The helmets aren't worth it right
now in my opinion.
There's also an art shop in the town, fancy!
Now that we got those items, head out the right exit and check the barrel by
the inn for a strong antidote (cures many ailments).
In the inn, you can find a blue root in one of the rooms. On the 3rd floor you
can find a totem and a blue potion (heals 250 HP). This room has an important
looking man named Jarik in it, who just wants to be left alone.
Now to explore the docks (Rogurd's Docks has nothing interesting, so head to
the main docks). The first building here is the pirate's pub, where you can
learn that there is apparently a black market somewhere in town. Also, you can
challenge the brawl brothers on stage. This battle is too easy as one Airus
Toxus will take care of them, giving you 60 xp and 150 gold. You'll get a
bronze claw after the battle, which boosts attack, which I gave to Kairu.
Out of all the barrels and crates out here on the docks, only the barrel by
the northern ship has something in it: a dart.
Now let's go explore the Poor Quarters to the right of the town. In the very
first house you an find a blue herb in a chest, but more importantly Neet is
trying to hide out here. Talk to him to send him home. You can now go talk to
Neet's dad for a 750 gold reward.
Back in the poor quarters you can go to the right and around to enter the
Shady house. Here you can find a cursed dart as well as the supposed black
market, where the man is willing to sell to you. Here you can buy travel
clothes which protect from sleep and paralysis, a wave bracer that provides
water protection, and laced boots which provided a speed boost.
Travel Clothes 1123 gil
Wave Bracer 1796 gil
Laced Boots 718 gil
These Wave Bracers are better than the Velvet gloves, I got two for Isa and
Aurora, as Kairu has the attack boost item from earlier and they are
expensive! In the pub nearby are some thieves blocking a treasure chest. Up
north is the crate's storage area, where all the dock workers made a lovely
box maze.
Now lets go to the pub in the main part of town. Here you'll learn Sammarkand
took over the kingdom of Ralbania to the east and built a skyship port there.
It's also rumored that the king of Ralbania is somewhere in town... gee, could
it be Jarik perhaps? Upstairs on the 2nd floor is a Uji Nut in the only urn
you can get to.
Down in the pub talk to the cloaked man, Juji. Isa will state she needs a boat
to Genufa while Juji seems to care more about her well-being. Juji tells you
that there's a rumor that Sammarkand is going to attack Cythere. Isa is quite
concerned, as Genufa can't assist Cythere as Fort Domufriu is blocking the
only route that an army can travel through. She than states that Cythere is on
the way to Genufa, so she will make sure King Justini is warned. Juji will
leave to prepare a boat for you and tells you to meet him at the fisherman's
dock when you are ready.
North of Juji you'll see Gavin from earlier. If you try to leave, Rogurd will
announce that he's off to Seremaze through a secret entrance and lock Gavin in
the Pub by barring the door. Gavin tries to get through the window but is too
big apparently, as he asks our party for help. Isa helps him by crawling
through the window and unbarring the door. Gavin gives us a blue potion for
our trouble and leaves in a hurry. As soon as he's gone, Rogurd comes in
laughing, saying that he fell for it, there is no secret entrance to Seremaze!
He than takes off with Isa commenting on how weird they are.
Stay at the inn, than head to the poor quarters docks. On the way, Aurora will
finally get sick of the old and ugly witch rumors, and give herself away just
to prove she's young and beautiful! Now you'll have the Sammarkand's chasing
you! In the middle of the cargo maze Isa will tell you to go ahead and she'll
hold them off. You run ahead and find Juji and enter the boat while he removes
the oars, but than the boat drifts off as Juji didn't tie it down! And without
an oar, Kairu and Aurora just drift off!
Meanwhile Isa holds off the troopers.
Here you'll have to do a little mini-game and try to hold the attackers back
by moving crates in their way. It's actually very simple, just look for choke
points and push the green crates in the soldiers way. If you do happen to miss
any crate, which is unlikely, you can simply fight the oncoming soldier to
stop them.
After this, Juji will come to rescue his love by letting the soldiers know
that it is Isa and destroying one of the crates. he's very helpful, isn't he?
Juji will attempt to get the soldiers to chase him, but they'll corner Isa on
the left of the docks. Thankfully, Rogurd comes along and tricks the soldiers
into picking up the "gold" he dropped while throwing down a ladder for Isa.
The scene will than go to Kairu and Aurora, adrift on the water..
==============================================================================
The House of Black Stone (BS07)
==============================================================================
You'll eventually hit an island after listening to the lame pirate talk, where
Aurora will see a temple inland...
Trek the short distance to enter the Ruined temple.
Aurora will be excited by the prospect of more adventure while you try to tell
her to be more concerned about getting to Cythere to meet up with Isa and try
to go back home. Of course, she doesn't listen to you and runs off to talk to
a guy standing in the ruins, Asi. This time you are fisherman's children. Asi
proposes that you help him reach the inner part of the ruins, as it requires
two people, and he'll help you reach Cythere. Sounds like we're kind of stuck
into helping him.
You'll join Asi to explore the ruins. Oh, Kairu also makes Aurora promise not
to use magic, in case it gets them in further trouble, so the only skill
Aurora will have is SLAP. Sigh.. oh well.. I guess give Aurora something to
increase DEF while you can't fry things (like the ruby necklace). I'd also
give her the blue herbs to do some healing..
Asi joins the party at level 25! He comes with the skills:
Lunge: Cripples an enemy, single target, 18 MP
Leader Lore: Boosts an ally's attack, single target, 40 MP (boosts atk and
magic atk)
Carve: Devastating rapier strike, single target, 36 MP
You also can't change out his equipment, guess he doesn't want us messing with
his stuff!
Ok, now to get down to exploring this place. To the right of the entrance is a
chest with a totem in it, so grab it and enter the Ruins. The name will change
to "House of Black Stone".
Head up to the intersection. To the left by the door is a pot with a scarecrow
in it. In the room to the south there are a couple of empty chests. The North
room is no better! Geesh, who has taken all these treasures? The two rooms on
the right have nothing either, so head up the middle and enter the room. The
plate here is an elevator that will take you to House of Black Stone BF1.
Here walk down the stairs. To the left you'll see a sparkly item, so of course
go and grab it! Well darn, all it says it that a strange presence can be felt
and nothing else. The only option left is to go north to another elevator,
leading you to House of Black Stone BF2.
Here the ground looks somewhat submerged, but head up to find the place Asi
was talking about. To get the middle elevator to work, Asi states that two
people need to stand on the pressure plates on the right and the left. Kairu
has no problem getting the plate to work but it looks like Aurora doesn't
weigh enough, so Asi helps her out. After getting both plates to work, they
disappear, dropping the party down a shaft and splitting them up. Now you're
at House of Black Stone - ???.
You'll take control of Kairu, so grab the blue potion right below you and head
to the cave on the right. Here use the save circle and continue to the right.
You'll arrive at House of Blace Stone BF3, where you'll see Asi and Aurora on
the far right and decide to meet at the central platform. You can press Select
to switch between the two parties. Of course, I recommend giving Kairu a way
to heal himself for this part, so give him a blue root to use in battle just
in case. Of course it's just as easy to heal yourself after every battle with
all the blue herbs you picked up... right? :)
Head to the weird stone thing directly to your right, and jump onto one of the
weird floating things heading north. These things will transport you between
platform segments. Head up to the next platform and head the only way you can
go. Jump on the next transporter to go to a southern platform. Go up to the
chest to grab a Velvet Glove. You can head to the transporter to the left to
go back where you started, or to the central platform to meet up with the rest
of the party...
As Asi and Aurora head back where you dropped for a chest with a strong
antidote. Than go back and head south on the transporter. From here you can
head left to the central platform to meet up with Kairu. If you try to go
further south, Asi will say you need to wait for Kairu. You can also head up
on the north-bound transporter for a chest with a blue root (by the way make
good use of the healing circle. I also backtracked to Kairu's tunnel to save
as well).
When Aurora hits level 17, she will learn Vivo Fira, which revives an ally for
48 SP. Not that it will do you much good here... BTW if you didn't know, you
can hit "L" in the spell menu to get to more spells!

Here, you can stay on this platform and go all the way to the left for a worm
tail ring. It gives 10 DEF and protects against sleep and poison (I gave to
Kairu). Using the transporter that you passed by the central column will lead
you back up to the first screen but give you a Med Antidote. You'll have to
make your way back to the transporter by the worm tail ring though. Take the
transporter down and head around the central column, heading south. Keep going
south to reach the basement (ignore the northern path).
Head to the central column and through the door, finding some rocks to climb
down leading to House of Black Stone B4. To the right is a transporter heading
down. There is another one to the left (I took the right one). You can head up
to find another transporter going north, but go around it and down the walkway
around the gap to a chest with some travel clothes (give to Kairu). If you
head to the left you'll see more transporters going North and South. That's
right, keep going south.
Here ignore the transporter to the south (which leads back up) and go to the
right. This will lead you to a more ruin-y place (is that even a word? :) ).
Anyway... head into the middle area here and Asi will remark that "It's not
here. So, it WAS moved after all... probably to Cythere" He than tells you
that to get to Cythere to take the elevator in the back and take the North
exit. And with that Asi will leave the party. Make extra sure to keep your HP
up now, as you won't have Asi's big punch to take care of enemies anymore and
Aurora STILL isn't using magic.
Take the elevator up, it leads to the first area you were at, by the pressure
plates. From here go north through the door. FINALLY Aurora will be allowed to
use magic again. Follow the only path to the right and upwards, heading down
and jumping over debris to continue. Look for a place you can jump down
between the arches, than go around to get the chest for an iron gauntlet
(don't equip it though, trust me). Follow the path down and around, grabbing a
goodie from the chest on the left and head right to exit the screen.
Here head in and north, up the steps until Aurora complains of this long
journey through the caves and points out the Save Points up ahead (What 4th
wall?). Here Aurora actually is a bit worried about what the Duke might think
of them being gone, but quickly shrugs it off as another adventure. After
shooing you off, you head down to get water for tomorrow, trying to rub the
Cursed Mark off of your hand with no luck. Nephi comes by stating it won't be
that easy to get rid of.
Nephi states that it is the mark of an Evil Spirit. Kairu finally tells him of
what has been going on: the dizziness, the voice, all of it. Nephi states that
there are artifacts around the world called armaments, and that Duke Averay's
sword is one of them. Nephi believes that by gathering these armaments, the
curse would be broken, at which Kairu asks for his sword back. Nephi agrees he
will return it when it is needed. Kairu also asks Nehpi not to tell Aurora.
Nephi than states that it is a good idea to go to Genufa as their scholars may
know about Bel Lenora and the other armaments. They head to the save point and
discuss a bit of Nephi's travels and past before calling it a night.
Meanwhile, at Xanadu Castle, that annoying Sammarkand General, Mondu, appears
to be talking to the king, Zhe, who asks how the witch hunt is going. Mondu
starts to make excuses before Zhe states that Vai gave orders to capture the
witch alive... wait a minute, Vai? Could it be?
Mondu informs Zhe that they found another witch as well before Zhe orders
Mondu to go to Cythere and make himself available to Vai, and let the
Guardians take care of the witches. The plot thickens....
Now back in the tunnels, Nephi will join the party again. He comes at lvl 17
and knows:
Nox Ico: Small cloud of poison gas, small area, 6 SP
Backstab: Strike from the shadows, single target, may paralyze, 10 SP
Physica Absorbus, Drain an enemy's HP, single target, 12 SP
Nox Debilitas, weakens the enemy, medium area, 39 SP
He also knows the combo's:
Nephi and Kairu: Nox Dash: A poisonous blade cuts through the enemies. 12 SP
Nephi / 18 SP Kairu
Nephi and Aurora: Flamma Blast: A fiery backstab. 15 SP Nephi / 10 SP Aurora.
Equip Nephi and if you haven't already give Aurora back her magic boost.
There's a statue of a hawk above you that looks pretty cool, but head down and
keep heading right. You'll eventually have to go down into the water again
before coming to a intersection. You probably saw that chest so lets head down
and around towards it. Open it for a totem. Go down towards another chest for
some Magna Armor (Only Nephi can equip it). Backtrack and head to the lower
right of the area for a Rippler Sword (for Kairu).
Once you head up, Kairu will state that a big one is coming..
Even though this boss looks so small approaching you, it IS a big one, and
seems to be armored/robotic as well! Don't worry though, this guy isn't too
hard. It can strike and make party members berserk. It also has Numb touch,
which can cause paralyze. Also watch out for the Octo-ink which can blind you.
Use Averian Strikes to kill off the tentacles in a hurry and be sure to spam
Flamma on the thing as it will really damage it.
Earned 1000 XP, 1000 gold
Kairu and Nephi learn Absorbus Strike, a cursed blade drains an enemy's HP, 32
SP each.
At lvl 20 Kairu learns Fury Strike: Strikes many enemies, 24 SP.
==============================================================================
Cythere and the High Pass (BS08)
==============================================================================
--Hi Folks! It's Bacter!--
After having scrapped that particular robot octopus, it's time to hit THE
WORLD MAAAAAP.
==World Map==
Yeah! Man it was getting claustrophobic in that 'ol sea tunnel. Ok we are out
and we want to get to a town ASAP. If you REALLY want to you can hit up the
bridge, which you still can't cross, and look in one of the barracks there
upstairs for some potions. A cave-in stops you from getting to Orchard Valley,
though you can get to the Cascadilla mountain entrance.
Anyway forget all that and head down south, following the coast. You'll get to
==Cythere==
There are chests scattered all throughout town. If you want to find
everything, make sure you collect:
Blue Root, 200 GP, Oppa Oil, Iron Net, Torch, Travel Clothes(3X), Crystal
Dust, Blazed Eye, 1500 GP, Acid Bomb, Blue Potion, Blue Root in town
And
Int Potion in the royal chambers, Vermillion Whip in the armory, Iron Armor in
the staircase near 2F, Blue Root, mind cure, and liquid tonic in the left hand
tower, and there is a secret passage in that room heading right that nabs you
an iron gauntlet and cloud eye.
I'll wait. We done? Cool.
If I were you I'd also stock up on Healing potions while here! It's my
personal play style to get the best equipment for everybody as soon as I can,
so that entails a fair amount of grind, but do what you want to.
Cythere Shop

Ok are we all ready? Awesome! Head into the castle, and talk to the guard
blocking off a room. After you talk to him, go talk to the innkeeper, who now
knows this situation. Nephi is there, and when you agree to take some well-
deserved sleep, we get INVADED!
You wake up to turmoil. Nephi is gone, and the invasion has begun. Save if you
think you can handle this (I personally had another save game outside on the
world map before I started this chain of events just in case I was in over my
head)
The main goal is to fight against Mondu, who believe me you have been waiting
to tear to peaces for a WHILE. I would also help out the normal enemies (just
1100 HP! You can handle it), and heal the Cytherians who fell in battle- there
are four of those.
--Bacter Signing Out!--
-----------
BOSS: Mondo
-----------
Mondo is a pushover, as you would expect, but he's got enough HP to be
considered a "BOSS". Just position Kairu in the narrow zone and spam Fury
Strike on him to do close to 400 dmg (at lvl 20), and use Aurora to heal and
cast Flamma to add 300+ more dmg. Mondo will attempt to hurt you using Acid
bombs (lowers def), Power slam (weak hit) and Crescent Slash (another weak
attack). You know you almost have him once he starts using blue potions, so
keep at it and he'll go down.
400 XP 400 Gold
After the battle you'll get hit by a spell from behind and go down. How cheap!
Isa will come out and see what happened, when King Justini informs her to flee
to Genufa as the city has fallen (remember the troops hidden under the bridge
were found earlier). You now take control of Isa.
Isa comes at lvl 14, with the same skills. Head down the tower, random battles
with soldiers will begin again. If you get outnumbered, feel free to dispense
the good ol' aira toxus. The first place you need to go is the treasury, the
guard would rather let you have the treasure than the Sammarkands, so grab the
strong antidote, iron gauntlet, and hero drink (super boost). You can also
grab a Uji Nut from the kitchen (remember the cook was guarding it
earlier...). You can also go to the treasure room to grab a hero drink, star
shard (heals the party for 500 HP and 350 SP), Gold ring (Raises SP by 25%)
and paladin dome (looks benevolent!).
Enemies in the castle consist of S. Soldiers and Combat Medics
To get out of here, go to the left door in the treasury hallway, which leads
to a secret exit. Follow the simple path to the exit, where you'll meet Nephi.
Nephi will tell you that he'll meet you with Kairu and Aurora at the High
Paths, and that you should hurry. The scene than fades out to Nephi with
Kairu and Aurora at ???....
Nephi explains that he carried them here and healed them after the Sammarkands
dumped their bodies outside the city. Kairu questions why they would dump
their bodies when Mondu seemed so intent on questioning them, which is a good
point! Nephi tells you that Isa will meet you at the High Paths, and he'll
help you get there. Nephi joins the party again.
I'd go ahead and give Aurora the Gold Ring, might as well get all the SP you
can. The soldiers on the left will inform you the king and General Derriks
stayed behind as bait to make sure everyone could flee. When you leave, you'll
be on the world map again, and of course, Cythere is off limits now as it is
guarded by Sammarkand. The High Paths, according to Nephi, are to the
Southeast.
At lvl 21 Aurora learns Magus Absorbus, steal your enemies SP, single target,
cost 9 SP.
After fighting together for awhile you'll learn 2 new combo moves!
Kairu and Aurora learn Fira Fury: Fiery blade cuts through the enemies,
single target/area, 18 SP Kairu / 22 SP Aurora
Nephi and Aurora learn Absorbus maximus: The enemy's HP and SP are absorbed,
medium area, 32 SP Nephi / 8 SP Aurora
Head South until you see a cave entrance, than east around the mountains and
enter to reach High Paths - Entrance.
Up ahead you'll see Isa. She will explain that the High Pass is a Genufan
secret entrance and is surprised Nephi knew about it. She'll join up with the
party, still at level 14.
Now you'll finally have four party members. You can pick party members to
switch now! Not here of course, but on the world map you can (which is close
enough..) or on any save point (there's one up ahead). Party members NOT in
the active party will also get exp, remember. I kept Nephi in for his range,
but you can choose who you want. Head into the caves to continue.
Here a Genufan soldier will drop a ladder for you, and even has some good
stuff for sale. Since we're headed to the desert, this armor is useful. I had
around 15K gold at this point so I picked everything up minus the accessory.
Also, make sure to give Kairu those Blue Potions you have. Head out the top
exit to continue. To note, the Summit Wolf's can be a pain when they use
Battle Cry, raising their DEF. Use Nephi and Aurora's Absorbus Maximus, try to
hit all the wolf's with it, it will be virtually free and end the battle much
quicker. Yes, I did abuse Absorbus Maximus throughout the High Pass, as it is
a godsend.
Head north and cross under the stone to find the weapon Grapnel in a chest.
From here, head back to the entrance and over the bridge and south as you'll
find there are a lot of blocked off paths through High Paths. Maneuver right
and under the bridge, going toward the cave on the right. Here you'll find
some Silver Spheres for Nephi (That's why we didn't buy them earlier) and a
blue potion. There is also a Traveler's Hat south of these treasures. Head
back out, going left over the bridge, than follow the path south and east to a
new area.
This next screen is simple, just climb the ladder. When you do, you'll see a
man come out, and than run back into a cave. He kind of looked like the
Guardian from before. Head left to enter the back side of the cave. Kairu will
have a funny feeling and than a paralysis gas trap will explode, freezing
everyone in your party but you. The man will show himself now, saying he only
wants the two witches and to leave before he kills you. Isa will comment that
she heard rumors that Majais were working with the Sammarkand, than gets
really upset asking him how he could do that after what they did to them! The
man basically ignores you and than a fight ensues..
Here we find the man's name is Yuei
----------
Boss: Yuei
----------
Here you'll be in a one-on-one match against Yuei. He spams Crush wave,
dealing around fifty damage to you per turn. He isn't too hard as long as you
fight smart, just use Fury Strike every turn to do 450+ damage while healing
when you're between 70-100 HP (Use the blue potions I mentioned earlier).
After 6-8 rounds he should fall..
Yuei gives 400 XP 500 GOLD, drops BLACK CLOAK
--Back With the Bacter--
Well we took care of that particular assassin. He was a huge jerk, so don't
get too upset that we defeated him. Not that you would! Just saying.
Anyway head on south. There's a crossroads there, with treasure chests to the
right and left, and 2 treasure chests and the Genufun encampment to the south.
There's free healing at the encampment, so we'll definitely want to head
there! Make double sure you get the Twin Crescents and 1000 GP treasures from
the camp, and if you need to make a stop at the shop.
Ok dang if we're ready head on south to brave the Melmoth Sands!
==============================================================================
Melmoth Sands and Genufa (BS09)
==============================================================================
==Melmoth Sands==
Enemy List:
Killer Cactus: 330 HP, drops dart
Wormling: 400 HP, no drops
Vulture: 350 HP, no drops
Djinn: 250 HP, drops Lucivar Herb
Sasquatch: 450 HP, drops Scarecrow
Melmoth Worm: 8000 HP, no drops
If you travel along the path with the blue plants, you'll surely reach Genufa,
however that way isn't the shortest and a lot of the items in this region are
in hard to reach places.
Follow the flowers right, and moving further right still you'll get a sun hat,
and down and left a little is a blue potion. Don't even worry about the blue
flowers now, just trust me. You'll want to find the south wall, and follow it
left.
You'll come to a crossroads- if you follow it north, notice you can get a spd,
mnd, and int potion in the cracks in the cliff-face! Back to the crossroads,
and now head back down. Follow the road down and left to get the oppa oil, and
head down even further for the sand eye. Head back up to the flowery path. In
a cave to the right is an INT potion. Now follow the blue flower path until
you hit the desert border. Going up into the cave here is HIGHLY recommended.
In fact, let me make a new paragraph.
GO UP INTO THE CAVE HERE. The white potion is in an easy to find chest, the
much better prize waits for you to identify the two statues and head down into
a hidden stairwell. DO NOT SELL THE ZEION GLOVE.
Ok back out and follow the flower path. When you get to the end of it the left
hand cave contains some laced boots, and the right hand cave gets you out of
there. But first...!
Remember those worms you had to run from all through this forsaken desert?
Well here's one of their brothers, but he's wounded! Time for vengeance!
This fight is really easy, to be honest. Since it is wounded, it won't do
Tremor, which is a huge help, it also won't use any high level magic, which
you may or may not have already experienced...
So hit him with your best stuff, My best stuff consisted of Fury Strike with
Kairu, Fira Dominatus with Aurora, and Nox Debilitas / Attacking with Nephi.
Keep it up and it'll go down; you probably won't even need to heal!
He gives you 400 XP, 500 Gold, and Worm's Teeth (A knife for Nephi) when
defeated.
After the battle head to the right to get to Genufa, the land of learning (as
Isa calls it). It seems Genufa is really.. um.. Natural. Anyway, head up
through the checkpoint. In this first door is the barracks, where you'll meet
Sakuji, the high commander of the Genufan Army. Isa interrupts the rough
handshakes to tell Sakuji that she's convening a council, so Sakuji will head
off.
Head further into the barracks and get the chest on the right for a blue petal
(50% chance of inflicting poison). There's also some Crystal Dust in the jar
by the water. Head back outside. Head right and go under the small arch in the
land to another house, where you can find a STR potion and a lame poem. Now
lets go all the way right and down to another house. Enter and go into the
room on the left from above. Check the lower right corner for a hidden chest
with a silver ring (raises SP by 12.5%). Of course, we already got a Gold
Ring. On the room on the right you can find a blue potion in the jar by the
water, and a sun hat and ice bomb in the chests. Further in the house you can
find a garden, where a man tells you Genufa was built by Abraxus a very long
time ago. Aurora will comment on how weird that is. Hmm...
Anyway, the belly dancer will mention that the house has a room full of
statues but doesn't know where it is. Well I do! Head back to the stairs but
go Left below them to enter the secret room. Here there is a lot of statues
and treasure. You can find a blue potion, strong antidote, Sand Eye (Big earth
protection), and oppa oil. Aurora also has a funny comment about the statue in
the middle.
Head back out and visit the scholars house next door, to the left. Enter the
door on the right and go up the stairs for an elixir. Nothing much else in
here, unless you like the desert tips the Genufan's have come up with (Desert
tip #34: Stay at home!).
Head up and right into the cave. This is Genufa - a small passage. The right
path hold 600 gp for you, the upper path takes you back outside to another
area, leading to Isa's secret place (shh.. it's a secret!). To be fair, it has
a really nice view, staring down into the depths of the desert.
Head back out and past the columns, the first door you see has Genufan Goods,
so pick up what you need from the item store. The weapon/armor store has
nothing really good, so I'd save your money. The next door over is more
housing, you can find some crystal dust in the lower left hand room. The
northern right room has a blue potion. And that's about it for Genufa for now,
so go through the columned entry we passed earlier.
This leads to the great Genufan library, the ring of memories. Here Nephi will
take his leave, promising to be back before you leave Genufa. You can learn a
great deal of information here, so feel free to browse. Up the stairs and in
the first right hand room is the conference room. Here Isa will explain what's
gone on so far, sparking great interest with the scholars and generals as to
the known Mujai (Magic users) and the fact that you apparently come from
another world. But, as more pressing matters are at hand, the Genufan take to
a private meeting and encourage you to explore the library while they talk.
The room to the right of the conference room is the scholastic room. Here you
can learn that Abraxus made dolls which can move and act. The writer suspects
it requires magic to use, but can't figure it out. Up above there is a doll on
display, and even journal entries from Abraxus himself stating that there are
work dolls, soldier dolls, and his newest creations the master doll.
The left side of the library, as you find out, was unsealed by Nephi decades
ago. Well, they did say that some sections were sealed by the dark arts, after
all. Head up through the left door and up the stairs here to read more from
Abraxus, it seems he was looking for ashen eyes for summoning. Go THROUGH the
right wall to find a chest with a SPD Potion. The right door in this area has
nothing, but the scholar again tells you about Nephi.
Now the main door by the conference hall contains another section, but it is
sealed by a strange magic. Interestingly enough, the mark on the door is the
SAME as the mark on Kairu's hand! Head back to the conference room and they'll
see you now. You'll answer some questions and than the historian Telesphorus
will retire to his room. Everyone will agree you're probably not spies and
allow you to stay. Isa will join you again, telling you that the person to
talk to is Telesphorus, so let's head to his room on the right to see what he
knows about Bel Lenora.
He'll state that he's been looking for this Majai world for a long time, and
asks you if you know Zodiat. Aurora exclaims Zodiat was the first king of Bel
Lenora! He than goes on to tell the story of Zodiat and Abraxus
Summary: Abraxus was an Ashen Eye, and could see through rifts. He met a great
spirit and all the people of Zodiat's kingdom gained the use of magic,
becoming majais. They became prosperous, built floating cities and great
temples and towers. All was well until zodiat went mad, unleashing his magic
on his people. This was the forbidden war, with magics so great they changed
the face of the land. Eventually, it is said Zodiat regained his sanity and
the war ended. However, another war was to come, as the humans were mad at the
majais for their affect on the world, and so the majais disappeared, gone, out
of the world. Abraxus left as well, leaving his writings and library, the ring
of memories, behind.
Telesphorus thinks that Bel Lenora IS the land the Majais went to, however he
suspects some stayed behind in Artania, living in a forest in the Seremaze
until the Sammarkans put the village to the torch. When Kairu questions that
non-magic users could beat majai, Isa gets VERY defensive and runs off crying.
Well, time to go after her...
As you know, she probably went to her secret place. Kairu asks Aurora if he
can go alone, however as you'll see when you move out of the small passage,
Aurora thinks she's sneaky.
Here Kairu will apologize and than Isa will tell him her back-story, how her
village in the Seremaze was attacked, all the villagers killed, and her father
was carted off (who looks awfully familiar, huh?). Kairu assures her that she
is not the only Majai, and offers to take her to Bel Lenora when he finds his
way back. They than head back...
Head back to the ring of memories to meet up with Aurora and Nephi again, than
Isa will be summoned to the conference room again. Here you are told the
Sammarkans are marching for Apogea. This confuses the council, since Apogea is
just the location of some old ruins. Telesphorus states that text from the
Forbidden War says that armaments were once located at the Seremaze, Cythere,
and Apogea and thinks maybe that's why they are headed there. Telesphorus
states that armaments are, perhaps, the most powerful items the Majai made.
Isa volunteers to go to Apogea and get the Armament before the Sammarkans can.
Of course that means you are too. Nephi states he will also accompany you, so
lets be off...
==============================================================================
On our way to Apogea, the Corridor of Clouds, and Apogea again! (BS10)
==============================================================================
Sakuji will be by the entrance of the Ring of Memories, and can take you to
Desert Entrance (Melmoth Sands) or the Genufan Port. Go to the port. This will
put you on the world map, just head north. Hidden in the eastern portion is
the Genufan Hidden Port. Here talk to the captain to take control of your
first boat. However, you are limited to the shallow, lighter water. To land
anywhere, just press "A" by the land.
Where you are supposed to head now is due east, towards a canal of lighter
water. you'll know you're in the right place when you get a scene showing
Kairu battling the cursed mark again, and than the captain will inform you
that you are nearing your destination, and can only return to Genufa when you
are done there.
BUT since I'm an explorer, let's see what we can find before heading to
Apogea...
Exploring: Land North of CANAL TO APOGEA:
Here you can find Gavin's House. Let's check in on him.
Oh, he's not here, but the chest has a Sun Gem, heals 200 HP/Party.
More exploring, Keep going north from Gavin's house, there's a cave to the
ARKAL CLIFFS that GAVIN won't let you access right now.
Left, you'll see the pink spot on the map, this is Tida's Reef (TR01). Here
head left down the steps. Be careful here, the enemies are a tad stronger than
any you've
faced so far, but with Absourbus Maximus (check skill name) you'll be ok. Also
make sure you save before hand, it's easy to die in this area. If you are
still having trouble, we need to come back here later as well, so keep that in
mind if you want to skip this for now.
Head around to the cave entrance, than head right and down the ladder to the
next cave entrance. Here there are three chests with Liquid Eye (Water
protection), Strong Antidote, and Tida's Earrings (20% counter-attack rate)!
Now if you can handle the enemies, keep going right out to another section of
Tida's reef. Here there's another cave a ways to the right, which leads to
some stairs, but don't forget to grab the white potion (heals 100% of HP) in
the chest to the right. In this room, go around the stairs and grab the speed
potion to the right, than do down the stairs and grab the iron net from the
chest below you, than hop to the chest on the right for some crystal dust.
Head up the slope to the right, going out the door here. Here head to the left
and jump to the middle, heading up to grab that chest you saw earlier for a
restore oil. Head down and to the right to grab the Twin Crescents (for Isa).
To the south-west (lower left corner) you'll see a sparkly thing on the
ground. When you examine it is simply states "a strange presence can be felt".
Nothing else to see here (for now), so head back to the boat.
Ok, now that we're done exploring lets continue:
Head right through the canal to get a scene. Kairu and Aurora will tease each
other and then the captain will tell them to get some sleep. You are rudely
awoken by pirates, who threaten to cut your throat if you make a move. Their
captain, Captain Blacktooth will have you tied up while Aurora tries to claim
that she is nobility. Aurora will try to talk her way out of being kidnapped
(try). The pirates then throw Kairu and Isa overboard, but it looks like Nephi
saw them.
You then see two guardians names Celesta and Isai talking about where Yuei
could be. Isai than vows to take the witches out...
You'll awaken in a grove with Isa, who goes on to tell you Nephi is not REALLY
a majai, as he uses dark magic. Kairu will than share with Isa his story about
the voice, the armaments, and cursed mark. Uh-oh, things are heating up..
Until Kairu gets hit on the head... by Rogurd.
Rogurd drops down and explains he found them freezing on the shore, hugging
each other for warmth.. You explain to Rogurd that you're looking for the
armament in Apogea, and than he'll decide to help you out.
Rogurd will join your party!
He starts off at lvl 20.
Skills:
Appraise: Analyzes an enemy, single target, 8 SP
Ax Rush: Powerful axe strike, single target, 15 SP
Battle Cry: Boosts nearby allies' power, medium area, 42 SP
Gold Rush: Escape from battle, 8 SP
Riving Ax: Deadly axe strike, single target, 42 SP
Hazard Smash: Strike stronger if wounded, single target, 56 SP
Re-equip Rogurd while you're at it (I gave him ATK UP, gave Kairu Tida's
Earrings).
Leave by heading south, Rogurd will give you directions. Apogea is north east,
you can go to the small village of Lanlat by heading west. Ah, Lets' go check
out Lanlat.
Watch out for the Jungle Jinx here, they can paralyze every member with one
attack.
At level 21 ISA learns:
Curo Aira: Breeze heals all allies, 34 SP
Cross Slash: Devastating geometric strike, single target 28 SP
Here at Lanlat, the first villager will give you directions to Apogea, in case
you forgot (notice the Scottish like bagpipe music). The house on the north
has supplies if you need them, as well as a new armor and weapon for Rogurd. I
was rolling in gold by this time, so I bought both. The sharp axe is a good
ATK boost, if you have to choose one go with the sharp axe. There's also a
diver's mask in the chest nearby, it gives extra protection against water. I
gave it to Isa as it gave her the biggest DEF boost.
If you want a free rest, go past the house south of the shop and talk to the
old man in the right house. If you're too under leveled, you won't find a
better spot to train than here, as the "inn" is free. Go into the left house
for a harpoon and a look at the girl's exotic pet. That's about all this town
has to offer.
Just so you know, you can now Appraise enemies with Rogurd. This will display
the enemies statistics on the upper screen including HP, SP, what family they
are, their weakness, and their strength. Useful stuff. And once you do it to
one enemy, you're party will remember too!
After fighting together for awhile, you'll learn some combo's with Rogurd:
Rogurd and Isa learn
Toxus Rush: A blast of toxic fumes, poison and sleep, single target, 15
SP/Rogurd, 20 SP/Isa
Rogurd and Kairu learn
Double Dash: Two blades rip through the enemy, can cause disable status,
single target, 15 SP/Rogurd, 18 SP/Kairu
A few more fights later (about half a dozen) Rogurd will learn another combo
with the team:
Rogurd and Isa learn
Dilato: All attacks are long ranged, everyone, 42 SP/Rogurd, 25 SP/Isa
Rogurd and Kairu will learn
Riving Fury: A devastating double attack rips the enemy apart, medium area, 55
SP/Rogurd, 36 SP/Kairu
If you head north east, you'll see where the mountains give way to the woods,
head north here. I'm sure you'll see the ruins to the north, so what are you
waiting for? Once you try to enter Apogea, the story will shift to Aurora and
Nephi...
You'll see Aurora still bound, when a poisonous looking smog frees her while
hurting her. Black tooth will order his men to fight the intruder, and you'll
get to hear them fighting, and by the sounds of it losing badly.. the captain
will jump ship, at which the pirates will completely give up.
When Aurora wakes up, Nephi will be standing by her. You'll now be at the
Corridor of Clouds. Nephi will start to head out, saying he will find their
companions, but Aurora will ask him to stay, saying she knows he just going to
disappear for awhile. She even offers to not ask any questions, which has to
be a challenge for her. Nephi will make some cryptic comments and than give
in. He also states that this will lead to Apogea, and his lady won't have to
go through the jungle below. Oh brother, like Aurora needs any pampering...
Equip the pair with some items and head out. As you know by now I love
Absorbus Maximus, so this pair is a good match up.
Head down the first set of stairs and check the plant boxes below for 2 blue
potions. The boxes are hard to see, but have lighter colored foliage on them.
Head right to the corner for a totem in a chest and another blue potion. The
transport above you will take you to the northern platform. Head up it and go
to the left. Go through the arch here for a hidden chest with Dragon Darts in
it for Nephi. No point in going back up the stairs as you came from that way,
so head right on the transporter. Head right on the next one as well.
Head up the steps here for a Woven Cloud for Aurora. Nice. Head down and to
the right. Here the door will take you to a tower with absolutely nothing in
it, so keep heading right. This area is like the center area, and straight up
the middle of it is a doorway where Nephi will comment "This strange wall
blocks the way. I don't think I can open it". You can head to the right and
access a new area though.
Here head follow the straight path (don't take the path back) and you'll come
across a chest with a winged mantle in it (I gave it Aurora). Head down and
right here to go to Apogea Tower - 3F Path to Corridor of... Keep heading
right to continue. You'll now be taken back to Kairu..
Here head outside and save, than go back and head into Apogea. Here you'll see
Juji and a bunch of Genufan Guards. They'll tell you about a monster up ahead,
but before you go fight it, go check out the cowardly soldier on the right for
a STR potion. Go confront the monster to enter battle!
This is the beast guarding Apogea, so time to take it down.
It can use Provoke, be careful. I took this guy down relatively easy, I
surrounded it with all three party members in a triangle formation. It used
provoke on Kairu, who is by far the strongest party member, so I let that go.
If it uses provoke on Isa, remedy the situation, as she's you're only healer.
Use Riviting Axe on it with Rogurd, and just attack with Isa. Kairu should use
Fury Strikes. He will fall quickly...
Spirit Beast: 4000 HP 2000 SP, Beast, Nothing, Nothing
After the battle Juji will congratulate you, but mentions that it's too bad
the beast fled. Bah!
800 XP 400 Gold
FYI guys, while I was exploring east of Apogea you can find a little desert
that has a unique monster.
Tropic Nightmare:
This beast has a ton of HP, but didn't attack me once while I fought it. It
gives 500 XP and 300 Gold.
--Bacter has Appeared!--
Well, that wasn't too bad. Dust off your hands, head to the trees in the
bottom-left, and grab the totem. Get ye to the world map, save, and then start
a-climbin'! There are plenty of items to be had, and almost all of them are
right out in the open. A few trouble spots I will point out: On the second
floor the bottom-left building is an abandoned shop. Hug the right wall to get
across the counter and down the stairs. Also note that the top- left building
here (ancient storage) actually has items in the containers, though they look
open, and there's a false wall to the left.
The REAL fun starts when you get to the 5th floor.
Hooo boy. I HATED this part! It took me forever (of course, I am a great
fool). We'll number the elevators from left to right, 1,2,3,4
From the fifth floor:
Grab the acid bomb and Silk hat on floor 5, and take and take elecator 4 to
the sixth floor
Get the crystal dust and take elevator four to the seventh floor
Pick up the Int potion, take elevator four to the fifth floor
Take elevator 1 to the seventh floor, get the restore oil
Take elevator 3 to the fifth floor, get Item 24, return to the sixth floor.
Take elevator 4 to the fifth floor
Head to elevator 2, getting the dust bomb
Reach the final elevator to the eighth floor!
Once at the top, you'll want to save and heal, because it's boss time!
--Bacter OUT--
-----------------
Boss: Mondu Again
This is probably the easiest fight yet. Mondu has absolutely no new moves.
However Kairu is disabled for the fight. Just simply attack with Kairu, knock
out the top lieutenant. Have Rogurd use Axe Rush to help make it faster. Have
Isa use airus toxus to take care of the medic and inflict some damage, than
take care of the lower lieutenant. If you're lucky Airus Toxus will cause
sleep, it even slept Mondu when I did this battle. Just keep hacking away with
this strategy and you'll be done in no time.
You'll than see the kid that's been following you. He tells Mondu to leave,
and backs up his words by summoning the spirit beast from earlier! Out of
nowhere, a character named Vai will jump out of the airship and attack the
spirit beast. Hey wait a minute, doesn't Vai look exactly like Asi from
earlier???
Regardless, Vai will make short work of the spirit beast, causing the boy to
collapse. He will than go and try to take the armament, a spiked helm, at the
same time Kairu does. Here you'll see the shadow boy start to talk about
becoming whole, saying the curse will be over and another armament is near.
Kairu will collapse while Vai will take the helm.
He than goes to Isa and asks her to give over her armament. Isa cries as she
recognizes her father, while Vai states he will explain everything when the
time is right. Isa hands her armament over as Vai tells the party he has all
the armaments and to stop on their quest, than jumps aboard the airship and
leaves. Mondu runs off too, of course.
Now the tower is crumbling, time to get out of here! You'll see a timer in the
left hand corner start counting down from 10 minutes, so don't be too slow!
This timer will run even in battle, by the way, so pick your battles wisely.
If I can use Averian Thrust to end it quickly I did, but otherwise I just ran
from every fight.
Heading back down to the outside portion is fairly easy, just make sure to
take the elevator you used to get here, otherwise you might get stuck. Once
you're outside, run to the elevators. You first choice will be when you run
north and see some stairs and a path to the left. Ignore the left path (it's
where you came from with Nephi) and run to the stairs, they'll fall down.
Great. Head to the right, a piece of debris will make a path to the right for
you, so take that elevator.
It'll lead to the main chamber, so run out the southern door to end the timer
and escape!
Afterwards, the party will come look at the damage. They'll decide to head
back to Genufa to plan their next move. Rogurd will than state that the helmet
wasn't what he was looking for after all, so he takes off to find IT before
Gavin (what is IT???).
==============================================================================
Back to Genufa and the Rind of Memories (BS11)
==============================================================================
Three days will pass and Kairu will be thinking to himself while walking in
the ring of memories. He than decides to check in on Aurora and Isa, so lets
go find them. Start to head out of the room when you'll bump into the kid who
could summon the monster, who manages to tell you his name is Nym.
He'll run off, but you'll see him outside this room. Nym will tell you how
strong he thinks you are for being able to take the helmet, and than lament
his slain summon and ruined home. He'll than state that you are his friend and
start to follow you. Nym joins the party.
Remember the Harpoon we found earlier? Well, go ahead and reequip Nym.
Nym comes at lvl 29 and knows the skills:
Bang!: Smash enemy, single target, 12 SP
Muus: Cures wounds and ailments, small area, 21 SP
Nym's Trick: Steals from an enemy, single target, 24 SP
Aurora will also encourage you to go see Isa, so head out to the "town". Pick
up some more items if you need them (I'm carrying around 99 blue herbs and
roots at all times now, btw), and head to Isa's room. It's just east of the
main entrance from the desert, you'll be asked if you're ready to enter Isa's
room when you find the door, so enter.
Isa and you will talk about Vai. It's pretty apparent he's not a maniac, at
least, as he helped you in Cythere while calling himself Asi, and was the one
that saved you in Tradefair by putting you to sleep and having the soldiers
carry you out of the city. Isa will join you and Nym, and than you will go see
Telesphorus about the armaments.
Telesphorus has no new info, but knows that Sammarkand has the five armaments:
The helm from Apogea.
Some armor from Seremaze.
An armament from Cythere, presumed to be gauntlets.
Isa's pendant.
And, of course, Duke Averay's sword.
Telesphorus will ask how Kairu knows the sword is an armament, and Kairu will
finally tell the party, including Aurora, about the mysterious spirit and his
curse. Telesphorus will say that the symbol is that of a very powerful spirit.
A scholar will come in and remark that it is the same symbol on the locked
library door. Nym will state that you are strong and can unlock the door. Isa
will say it's worth a try, so you'll get dragged off to the sealed door.
Lo and behold, it works! But now you'll have to fight two Dolls, which are
fairly easy.
You can now explore the new library section. There is also a bed and a save
point on the room to the right. You'll also now learn that Nym can learn to
summon by visiting all those "Strange Presence's" we've seen before, as there
is also one in the room on the right, but require you to "unlock" it by
gathering the four books used to seal the spirit. Go talk to Telesphorus, who
will mention that there are monsters ahead and that each new section requires
you to find a book to unlock it. He also asks you to bring each new book to
him. Ok, lets go explore.
Head through the first room to the next room. here you can either go down or
right. Head right to reach another library. Now, the bookcase in the northwest
corner will actually move out of your way and let you get into the secluded
study if you examine it (crafty Abraxus). So get in there to find 700 gold and
another worm's tail.
Head to the study in the right to find one of the books that Telesphorus told
you about. Head south to enter a new room. Here the chest in the south has a
blue root for you. I'll bet you can also see that book to the left huh? You
can pass the curious scholar and go grab it. Kairu will climb the book shelf
and grab the book. He'll than say that this isn't the book that Telesphorus
told him about, but he'll take it anyway as it looks important.
You'll than immediately go into a battle:
The yellow folio is kind of like a sub-boss. This fight isn't too hard, the
Yellow Folio has around 2000 HP and should go down with a couple of Fury
Strike's. Take care of the wussy monsters afterwards to win handily.
Yellow Folio
Djinn x2
Watchman x2
"The folio's pages are riffling!"
420 exp 300 gold
Head west into the next area. Here north will bring you back to the beginning.
I went back and slept/saved, than gave the book to Telesphorus, who states
that the book says that there are hidden paths behind mechanical bookshelves.
Well, that was no help, huh? Head back to the southern room. Now, if you
returned the book, there are no more encounters on the first floor. The path
to the next floor is in the south-west corner behind a bookshelf, but before
you head down, go to the room in the north. Here there's another book, and
another fight with a yellow folio, so you know what to do. There's also a
Majai Spear in the chest for Nym, although I'm still using the harpoon.
Ok, now head down to floor 2.
Here head south to grab a Scholar Robe from the chest. The right bookcase
directly north of you is movable, so travel through it to grab a mind cure
from the chest. Head north from here to grab some ancient blades from the
chest for Isa. The room to the north has yet another yellow folio book, so go
for it. There's also a scholar here who says there should be an exit to the
north. Hmm... Indeed, the party will comment the wall seems strange.
Head back south. Now the room on the right is an exit, so don't even bother.
Instead we need to go back to the first level, so head back to the room you
fought your first yellow folio in. Head to the south of this room by the light
and hit the bookcase north of you; it should slide revealing a hole. Fall in.
North of you is another special book that Telesphorus wants, as well as
another yellow folio on the bookcase, so grab both. Head to the north and hit
the bookcase you run into while walking west. Than you can hit the bookcase in
the path's way to get out of here.
Now go back to Telesphorus, who will tell you that there is an illusionary
wall on the 2nd floor. Now heal up and head back to where the party commented
on the strange wall. You'll also notice more scholars in level 2, who will
tell you about Abraxus' contact with the "Great Spirit" which gave the people
magic. Anyway, go touch the door, and of course it will open. In here, walk
along the east bookcases to get to the chest, which has a monster codex. Now
you can finally see monster stats without Rogurd!
Head to the other door and go upwards. The chest on the left here has some
dragon skin mail, which I gave to Kairu right away. Head right to find the
next door going upwards. Here you'll find another book for Telesphorus. The
path down to level 3 has another Illusionary wall, so go talk to Telesphorus
first and heal up. Also, now that you got all four optional books in the
library, go back to the room with the "Strange Presence" in it. Now Nym will
call forth the Judge of Sun summon. Save up than head back to level 3. Along
the way you'll meet more scholars who will tell you that the king offered his
body to the Great Spirit... Hmm...
Once you're at level 3, touch the wall to continue. You'll run straight into
the next boss:
Well there are his stats. He uses the following moves as well:
Nox Ico: Small damage and sometimes poison.
Decay: Hits you for small damage and causes Paralyze.
Physica Absorbus: Deals medium damage and heals him.
He'll also attack and use a fairly strong death attack when you finally wear
him down, so keep everyone's HP above 80 at least. I was using Kairu, Aurora,
and Nym when I fought him. DEFINITELY USE JUDGE OF SUN, it takes off 1200+ HP
and can blind him. And even though he is strong against fire, have Aurora use
Fira Dominatus as it will still do 600+ damage (and heal when needed). Have
Kairu get up in his face and use Fury Strike. In my fight, he only paralyzed
Kairu, and than started to try to attack Aurora, but since he was blinded and
taking so much damage from JUDGE OF SUN he fell fairly fast. Just keep your HP
up with Aurora and maybe give Nym some healing items (Blue Roots) and you'll
be fine.
After the battle you'll get 600 XP and 600 GOLD.
Ok, continue on and watch the next scenes. We're now going to be heading to
Arkal Cliffs/Skybase, but not before grabbing some extra skills, so here's
Bacter:
Alright you guys need to be seriously, completely, totally well-equipped for
this next part. Get on your shiniest armor and sharpest weapons, because we
are heading back to Tida's Reef. Unlike my companion, I hadn't explored this
place until now, and it was kind of a rude awakening. Don't be shy with the
heal potions!
(Bkstunt's note: type TR01 to look up the guide for Tida's Reef from earlier).
==Tida's Reef==
The goal here is to go to where you felt the mysterious presence, because
that'll get you the Tida Summon
==Temple of Lucivar==
Get you that Lucivar summon from here. To get to the temple, backtrack to
Tradefair's region through the bridge, then enter the mountains.
OK with those two summons under our belt (you'll probably just need the Judge
of Sun to be honest) we're gonna head to Arkal's Cliffs.
==Arkal's Cliffs==
Enemy List:
Cliff Crawler: 850 HP no drops, no steals
Muck Magus: 750 HP, no drops, can steal Acid Bomb
Wyrm: 775 HP, can steal strong antidote, no drops
Boulder: 800 HP, drops silver claw, no steals
Vulture: 350 HP, no drops, no steals

This can be a tough area (though the enemies aren't as bad as those in the
reef, and the items aren't really hidden. Note that there's a save point about
halfway up the hill which you'll want to use as a base of operations as you
take on the baddies and get the goods. Especially note the Gladius and 1000
GP! Once you've had enough continue your climb until you see a glint.
Shouldn't be any harm in touching that, right? Just gonna touch it... AAAUGH!
--Bacter is carried away by birds--
Well, Isai finally challenges us. It's about time! He'll tell you to give his
regards to Yuei and than attack! Here are his vitals:
He'll use a skill called Hypnotism to try and charm your party members. Out of
the four times he used it on me, it only worked once, so hopefully you can
dodge this and keep piling on the damage. If Isai manages to land charm on
someone, have a party member use a mind cure to heal them, as the last thing
you need is another enemy.
Other than charm, Isai will also cast Glacius for medium damage. Nothing you
can't recover from though.
First of all, block the path with Kairu. Kairu was disabled in my battle, so I
just had him attack regularly. Have Nym use Judge of Sun for some good solid
damage, Aurora should be casting her fire spells and healing. Now with any
luck Isai will miss his first few chances at hypnotise, and with Judge of Sun
and Fira Dominatus you can really pour the damage on, knocking off almost 1/3
of his health per turn. At this rate, even if he does charm someone after 2
rounds, just keep attacking and it will be over soon. If he gets someone too
early, use the mind cure (that hopefully another party member has equipped...
you did equip it right?) and have Aurora heal until your in tip-top shape.
Than carry on with the attacking again and you'll soon emerge victories.
You'll get 700 XP and 700 GOLD for your trouble.
Head north to go back to the world map. Head south and you'll reach Arkal
Skybase. In here visit the inn if you need to, it's up north of the entrance.
Just north of the inn is a woman who will ask you if you support Sammarkand,
and you can choose to say "yes" or "no". While choosing "no" is the most
tempting by far, saying "yes" will net you a silver ring, so it's up to you.
Now visit the first house for a bone necklace in the chest. Also, grab a cat-
o-nine-tails in the next house over, you'll find it in the white pot. Head
outside and head all the way left to the edge of the town. Grab the Mechanic's
Boots which protect against burn. You can also find an iron net in the bucket
by the house south of you.
There is an item and weapon store to the east of you, so stock up on any items
you need. The weapon selection here kinda sucks, I'm sure you already have
better equipment. The path to the south leads to Ralbania Castle, by the way,
and the guards aren't going to let you through. To proceed, head up the stairs
in the north-east part of town, and you'll see Mondu is waiting on a sky ship
to take him back to the capital for the ceremony. Well well... Kairu will than
state that they should head someplace quiet to plan how they're getting on the
airship, so head back to the inn. The party will decide that they should steal
some uniforms to sneak aboard, than magically three Sammarkand guards will
appear! Imagine that. You'll than have to decide who will talk to the guards
and try to get the uniforms, and you can choose between Kairu, Isa, and Aurora
(Nym will refuse to talk to bad men).
I got an email from Ametarasuokami regarding these uniforms, so with many
thanks I'll let him tell you the many ways to get your hands on these
uniforms:
Hey, this is Ametarasu Okami from the Black Sigil board. I'm not sure if you
can use this for your walkthrough, but at the part in the Arkal Skybase when
you need to steal the guards uniforms, I got all the responses and stuff got
all the characters in each situation...well, here they are. hopefully it can
be of some help, cause some options are easier than the other
Aurora
Choice 1 There are ruffians
Guards get mad that someone is annoying a beautiful girl like Aurora and ask
where the ruffian is.
Choice 1a In the back
Aurora says the ruffian is out back, and the party ambushes them for the
uniforms after a battle.
Choice 1b It's the man there
Aurora says the ruffian is Kairu, the guards go confront Kairu all while
Aurorais laughing. A 1-on-3 battle between Kairu and the 3 guards ensues.
Choice 2 I like men in Uniforms
Convinces the guards to go out back and have fun.
Choice 2a Guys, lets do this.
Everyone corners the guards in the back, and a battle ensues.
Choice 2b (I can handle this myself)
Aurora convinces the guards to get their uniforms. You check back later only
to see 3 toasted bodies.
Isa
Choice 1 I am the Genufan...
Guards don't believe her and tell Isa to leave them alone
Choice 1a ....
Guards find out Isa is serious and surrender their uniforms with no fight.
(Definitely the easiest way. Lol).
Choice 1b You leave me no choice
Isa decides to take the uniforms by force and a 1-on-3 battle between Isa and
the 3 guards ensues.
Choice 2 I saw suspicious men
Isa says there is suspicious activity going on in the back of the bar. Guards
walk out back and..
Choice 2a Lets go everyone!
Everyone goes out back and ambushes the guards. A battle ensues.
Choice 2b (I'll take care of this)
Isa goes to the back alone and a 1-on-3 battle between Isa and the Guards
ensues.
Kairu
Choice 1 I'd like to join
Kairu asks the guards to join and the guards wonder if Kairu wants to fight
for the glory of Sammarkand
Choice 1a I'm not sure.
The guards decide to test Kairu and a 1-on-3 battle ensues. After you beat
them, they give up their uniforms saying they don't want their jobs anymore
cause of Mondu.
Choice 1b Of course, I have..
Kairu tells the guards that he has a weapon and violent tendencies. The guards
then comment that is how Mondu got his position, and give Kairu their uniforms
without a fight.(Another easy one).
Choice 2 Military life sounds like a drag..
Kairu asks if military life is worth it, and the guards say Mondu makes life
hard, but they ask Kairu if it's a test from Mondu
Choice 2a No. Just hand over...
Kairu says to hand over the uniforms and forget about Mondu. The guards don't
agree and a 1-on-3 battle ensues.
Choice 2b Yes! And you failed.
Kairu says that the guards failed the test and the guards give Kairu their
uniforms so Kairu doesn't report them to Mondu for failing his test (another
easy one).
Once you have the uniforms, you can head up into the inn to change into them.
Nym will state that he doesn't need stinky uniforms and will meet you on the
flying beast. Anyways, you'll head up to where Mondu is at and the guards will
let you onto the airship. Man are they stupid. You'll also see Nym actually
JUMP UP TO the airship from below. Once inside he'll meet up with the rest of
the party in "Luka's Room".
==============================================================================
In enemy territory: Ponsu and Suilei (BS13)
==============================================================================
Well, since it's his room, Luka will soon come in, prompting Isa to bar his
way out and threaten him. Well, it turns out Luka is the mechanic for the
airship, and really doesn't care if they are stowaway's or not as long as they
let him do his job. Cool. The ship will soon take off, and Luka will mention
the flight will take 7 hours. Of course, to us, this is more like 7 minutes,
as once you leave the room you'll see a counter start.
Once you head out you'll see some soldiers guarding the hallway. Touching one
of them initiates a battle, so be prepared (it is a rather easy battle,
though). The room south of you has some engineers and a save point, if you
need it. The room right to the right of Luka's room is a storage room with two
chests in it, so grab the for a white potion and liquid tonic (check, liquid
something...)
Head left, getting past the soldier. The upper and lower rooms here both lead
to fights and have no items, so head up the stairs. On this second level, head
up the first door. You'll get into a fight, but once you're done you can
access the room that the soldier was guarding to find a chest for 2000 GP in
Mondu's room. Well, he doesn't need it, right? Head back out and down the
hallway, going south into the kitchen. Here, head all the way left and down
the stairs to get the chest for another white potion. That's all that you'll
find here, so spend the rest of the trip any way you like.
Once time runs out, you'll be back in Luka's room. Isa will mention that the
trip felt short, so after that put back on your uniforms, of course! Luka will
wish you luck storming the castle, and you'll disembark at the Sammarkand
Skydocks. If you grabbed all the treasure, Mondu will actually congratulate
you for not deserting and give you a blue potion. He he, if only he knew.
You'll than head straight to the Inn as the uniforms are so darn smelly and
you can't wait to change. Nym will manage to find his own way there as well.
Isa lays out the battle plan, stating that the heart of the empire is
comprised of three cities: Xanadu, Suilei, and Ponsu, as well as the skydocks.
You'll than stay the night at the inn.
In the morning, Aurora will try her best to be quiet and not give the team
away, to Kairu's dismay. A helpful stranger outside the Inn will give you
directions: Xanadu is to the north while Suilei and Ponsu are to the south.
You can find a merchant north of the inn, directly north of the dock workers.
Stock up on blue roots if you need them, otherwise he has nothing new for us.
When you're ready to go, head south and out to the world map.
If you let Isa and Nym work together for awhile they will learn Muss Orbis:
Muss Orbis: Muus' healing enhanced by Isa's abilities, all targets, 18 SP Nym
25 SP Isa
If they keep fighting together, they will eventually learn Southcross Slash
Southcross Slash: Tida's cold wind attack, single target, 35 SP Nym, 30 SP
Isa.
Also, once Isa hits level 30, she'll learn Tornadus
Tornadus, Tornado slows nearby enemies, large area, 89 SP.
If you try to head north to Xanadu, you will be stopped by the cities guards,
who state that access is limited, as you must have a citizen's pass or an
entertainer's pass in order to get to the ceremony. Well.. since we have
neither we're out to go find one or the other!
First, lets venture south and than east, heading further south to Ponsu, which
is located right on a lake. It really isn't too hard to find, so once you do
head into the city. Head in the first house and check the jars for a blue
potion. Also check the book case on the left to read a rather made-up book
about Mondu. You'll also find a golden key in the pages, which we'll use later
for a chest in Xandau.
Go to the house on the northeast corner and check the boxes for a golden
bracelet. If you still have wave bracer's on Isa or Nym, I'd let them equip
it. Now go to the house south of you and check the jar by the entrance for a
poison dart. Head further in and check the covered jar for 500 gil. The huge
house south of you is the inn, combined with other businesses. The merchant on
the right once you step inside is a weapon and item merchant. The gold spear
is decent for Nym, so I grabbed it, but the golden robe's are rather pricy for
a minor increase in protection, so depending on how rich you are you may not
want to pick them up.
The man below you will offer to take the ladies to the hot springs... Aurora
doesn't seem amused. Head up the stairs to the inn portion. In the second room
check the jars for a pungent bomb. The third room has a chest with some Dadao
Blades for Isa, so equip those right away. The only other thing to do in Ponsu
is to try out the hot springs. Kairu will try to opt for the unisex spring,
but the girls shut him down. Using the hot spring will restore you hp/sp. Lets
go check out Suilei now.
Head back north to the intersection and right to Suilei, the "Artistic"
capital of the world. Head right to the child, than south. Enter the house
next to the guard for another pungent bomb by the strong man. Keep heading
south and you'll find a white potion in the next barrel. Head left and down to
the grass. Now head all the way left for a chest with a crystal shard in it,
which heals 350 SP. Head back up and continue left, enter this next house to
find a blue potion and ruby necklace in some chests. This store is the Exotic
Wares store, and has some expensive accessories, including:
Geesh, too rich for my tastes. Head to the next house over, Grandiose
Garments. The clothing rack in the north has a hidden Gossamer Sash, which
increases speed and absorbs 115% wind. Hmm, pretty nice, put it to use if you
want to. The only real new things the merchant offers is a heavy flail for
Aurora, and Lacquer Armor for Kairu. The flail is a nice upgrade, it'll drop
your speed but up your attack by quite a bit, so I'd get it. The Lacquer Armor
you can do without, it will increase Kairu's def, while dropping your attack
and magic def, so I'd skip it.
Head north from here, past the next house. The barrels north of you have yet
another pungent bomb in them. Head to the Inn in the northern part of town.
Once inside, head up the stairs and grab the chests for a white potion and an
elixir. Head down to the town center, checking out the actors. The house on
the right has a chest with some juggler's gloves on them. These have a high
counter rate and increase a number of stats, so I gave them to Kairu. There's
also a Ceramic helm out of the door in front of you in a chest. This is a
decent helm that negates burn, so give it to Kiaru or Isa.
Now you can talk to the three frogs group in the west of the town center.
They'll have accidentally gotten themselves in a bind by ordering wild animals
to fight, so of course Kairu says he'll take care of it if the group gets the
party an entertainers pass to the capital. The three frogs readily agree, and
say you should come see them when you are ready (after box measurements are
done, after all).
Once you are ready, you'll enter into a battle while performing on a stage.
Here's your fight:
Doomwing Larva x3
Each one has 3000 HP 3000 SP, Family: Flying Demon Strong: Fire, Wind, Dark
Weak: Earth, Holy
Each one give you 300 XP and 300 Gold once you defeat them.
The fight itself really isn't enough to be a boss fight, as all you need to do
is target one of them with Judge of Sun to deal upwards of 2000 damage. Have
Isa use Curo Aira when you need health, as once you beat a Larva, it will cast
Dominus Fira on you, so keep your HP up beyond 90 at all times. Really not a
hard fight.
==============================================================================
Xanadu and Xanadu Castle (BS14)
==============================================================================
After the battle you'll be given an Entertainer's pass, so let's head back to
Xanadu. With the pass you'll get into the city. Go into the inn and head
upstairs to find a STR potion in a chest. Head right from here to where the
kids are playing and you'll find a blue herb in a barrel by the stairs. The
house here is selling Pearl Gauntlets, which offer water and dark protection
for 12000 gold, which is a bit high for my taste. North of this house is an
Uji nut in a barrel as well. Head back down and up the stairs and enter the
house on your right. The chest has a white potion, but don't forget to grab
the crystal dust in the jars down the stairs. Head back out and north. Behind
the houses you'll see an old couple, so go keep bugging the old man until he
gives you a sun gem. The next house you can go into has a blue root in a
barrel.
The next house on the north, on the right, has a ladder in it that you can
climb up to a storage room, so go pillage crazy and pick up 400 Gold, a Cursed
Dart, and a Silver Claymore from the chest. The claymore isn't as good as your
Gladius, so just hold on to it.
Keep heading north and enter the other mansion. In here grab the Elixir hidden
in the chest by the bed, and than take the southern door to find an iron net
and a strong antidote in the barrels. Head back out. The house south of you,
by the singer, is a herb store. Here you can stock up on items and grab a
luciver herb in the jars by the owner.
Also, above the Inn (by the town's entrance) is the weapon and armor store.
The only new thing here is the Lacquer Helm, which offers a little more
defense, but lowers your magical def. too much, so steer away. The house to
the left has a goody in it as well. Head further north on the left side of the
city to grab a blue potion in the barrel north of the pond. Whew, I believe
that's every item in the city portion, so now lets head up to the castle. Here
you'll see the guards letting Mondu through to the castle, reluctantly. Of
course you have your pass, so head on through. Here the maid will tell you to
gather in the garden to the north. I've got a better idea though..
First lets head off to the right path and enter the right door. You'll find a
golden robe here, it might be an upgrade for Isa at this point.
Now head up this path and to the kitchen on the right. In here you can find a
hidden room by going to the little room to the southeast and heading south
between the covered pots (where the boy is facing). You'll find a Mind Drink
in the chest here. Now head back to the entrance, but this time lets head off
to the left path and head down through the first door. This is the guards
room, and if you try to enter you'll be told to leave. Try again and you'll be
attacked by some warlords. They're still prettty easy, so take them down and
head through the door on the left. In here head down the stairs, than go check
out the prison cells. Here you'll find the "suspicious man" you may have heard
about in town: Rogurd???
Talk to Rogurd and he'll tell you how he got here. Now we'll need to find his
cell key. Lets head out. Simply head up the path to the right to find the key,
than go free Rogurd. Rogurd will join you now. Head back to where you got the
cell keys to pick up Rogurd's gear. Head left and take out the guards while
you're at it, but make sure to hit the red button on the wall before you walk
into the spikes, as they half your HP whenever you walk over them.
You'll reach the main halls again, the door to your north is the barracks,
which you can fight some more soldiers in if you want. The door next to the
barracks will unlock with the key you found, so head up to the 2nd floor. In
here follow the hallway to reach the first door you come by. This room is the
lodging for the barracks and has even more soldiers in it. Kairu will try to
excuse himself, but you'll have to battle again. The next door over is the
servants quarters, if you talk to the maid you'll have to fight a single weak
soldier. The room on the right is half of a storage room, with no items in it,
so take the northern hallway. Here you'll meet Mondu again, and after he shows
you his key to the next floor, you'll enter another battle with Mondu.
----------------
Boss: Mondu v. 3
----------------
Here's Mondu's stats again:
4000 HP 300 SP Family: Humanoid Strong: Nothing Weak: Nothing.
Well, this should be easy. Just use your best attacks and it will end quickly.
You'll gain 400 XP and 400 GOLD after the fight.
You'll pick up the key when you're done and Kairu will state they need to stop
the ceremony, not chase Mondu. The chest by Mondu's desk will be locked, but
the Golden Key you picked up earlier will unlock it and you'll gain a blood
charm. I equipped Isa with it.
At level 35 Kairu will learn Sword Dance:
Sword Dance: Devastating single target attack, single target, 75 SP
After opening the chest you'll get the guardian's key, only to be quickly
attacked by Celesta.
Yet another Boss!
-------------
Boss: Celesta
-------------
Here are her stats:
7000 HP 2000 SP Family: Humanoid Strong: Dark Weak: Fire, Holy
Well, another guardian to fight. Yea! She comes with 3 pet bats as well, so
take care of those guys before anything to make some room. Now, she will call
more bats when you kill them. However, one blast of airus toxus from Isa will
not only take care of the bats, but hurt and possibly put Celesta to sleep.
Plus, the bats are so easy to kill, whenever she calls them it is basically
her wasting a turn.
Of course slam her with judge of sun whenever you can for serious damage,
doing around 2000 damage and possibly blinding her. With this strategy, it's
virtually impossible to lose. She does hardly any damage anyways, I'm sure
you'll be more than fine. Just heal any time you need to.
After the battle Kairu will ask Celeste where the ceremony is taking place.
Celesta will than state that they don't have all of the armaments, but than
will realize that that's why Vai wanted to get to Isa.. than she'll warp off.
Well darn. Well, now you can head back to the hallway and enter the staircase
door (which is all the way to the left, remember).
In this new level, head south and take out the guards to continue. To the left
you'll see two chests with lacquer armor and a pearl gauntlet. Grab the
goodies and head back down the stairs. You can check out the skyship through
the door to the south if you want, but there's nothing to do out there.
Back downstairs, head north up the hall and unlock the big door. Head up to
the next level. Here head to the right and unlock the door to your north, this
leads back down to the 1st level, so lets head south. Go into the next door
you see, and you'll find some chests with a STA Potion and MND Potion in them.
There's also a SPD potion by the bed as well. The door south of the bed won't
open, so head back to the hallway and head south. The next door here leads to
the study. It also has a hidden room, just inspect the armor by the wall and
the bookcase will move. Wish I had one of those in my house. Anyways, this
secret room contains some Imperial armor, a STR potion and a INT potion. The
door here won't open either, I believe it connects to the room above you
though, so no worries as we've been there.
Head back out to the hallway and go all the way to the right, heading north
when you can. Use the save point here, than head north to the ominously
sounding ceremonial room.
You'll see Zhe boosting about how powerful he will be, when all of a sudden
Celesta shows up and calls Vai a traitor, attacking him from behind.
Unfortunately for her, Vai is a badass, and so she'll hit the floor hard. Vai
will finally show some emotion about the attack on his village and family. Zhe
will go back to ogling over the power he thinks he's inheriting, however Vai
will paralyze him. But wait, how do they expect to complete this ceremony,
since Nephi has the Duke's sword. Well, right on cue a huge dragon will
descend into the room, transforming into Nephi, as I'm sure the party is in
shock at this point.
He'll than place the sword with the other armaments to complete the set. Vai
will congratulate his "servant" while Nephi resents that word, as he states he
is not Vai's servant, but the forbiden's servant.
Finally the party will step forth to confront Vai. Vai will use his paralyzing
gas thing to freeze everyone but Kairu, while Kairu tries to explain to Vai
that the forbidden will only try to control Vai's body. However, Vai thinks
Kairu is trying to trick him. You'll than have to duel Vai
Now, this fight is rigged, just like the first duel you faced in the beginning
of the game. You can beat him if you are lucky and heal conservatively (and
use a lot of fury strikes which should be dealing out 1200 + damage), but just
save your items as you'll get nothing fancy at all.
After the "fight" you'll get pushed back by Vai, as he'll start the ceremony.
Well, sure enough, as soon as Vai invites the power into him, the Forbidden
enters his body and takes over. Well great. We tried to warn him, didn't we?
Zhe will ask what's going on, only to be slaughtered by "Vai". Aurora will
desperately try to rouse Kairu, while Rogurd states they need to leave NOW
(really?), but "Vai" will state that you aren't going anywhere, and send the
deadly gas towards you.
I would say game over here, but Nephi jumps in and blocks the attack. Rogurd
will grab the unconscious Kairu and run for it. You'll now have to escape,
while the magic is making everything blurry. And you won't have Kairu
(obviously). Well now is a good time to make a run for it. Retrace your pack
back downstairs. If you try to hang a right towards the stairs to the 3rd
floor, Rogurd will stop you, saying you heading the wrong way, and to trust
him. Well, since we have no choice, run up to the room where we could take a
gander at the emperor's airship (southwest passage on the 4th floor). Here the
party will jump into the airship, as Rogurd essentially steals it. Oh well,
it's not like the emperor needs it anymore anyways, right?
If Aurora and Isa work together long enough, they'll learn Charm:
Charm: The beauty of two heroines charms and confuses. medium area, 30 sp Isa
14 SP Aurora.
==============================================================================
Eerie Caves and Drakus Tat (BS15)
==============================================================================
After the scenes at Xanadu, Kairu will wake up in the "Eerie Caves" thinking
to himself how odd it is to be glowing like he is. He'll also notice that the
cursed mark is gone and he can now use magic. You'll be alone for this part,
so the first thing to do, of course, is to heal yourself up and save using the
healing circle and save circle respectively. This first room is a little
weird, heading left or right will only take you back to the same room, so head
south. In this room, heading east takes you to another door, which will only
bring you back to this same room, so head north through the door you just
entered from.
Once you get to this next room, you can even head south through the door you
just entered AGAIN to find a chest with a torch in it. Anyway, head north from
the chest to enter the area we need to go to. Here first head up and right,
checking the skeleton for a Drakus Potion(heals 500 HP), than head down and
right some more to pick up a crystal shard from the chest (heals 350 SP).
Now you have two choices from the entrance to this room: you can head up and
slightly right, going north east a ways to another door to continue on or you
can head left from the entrance to revisit the starting area where the save
and heal points are. Yeah, lets head on. In this new area You'll see an
unreachable chest past some rock formations, but you can head north in this
room to reach the area that it is in. Open for a moon cloth robe, a very nice
piece of armor that you should give to Kairu.
Head back south and take the exit to the left. In here head north east until
you can't go north anymore (which is a few seconds walk), than head south east
going south at the intersection and down the steps to the barrels. From the
barrels you can find a hidden path to the left leading to a chest with some
ghost gauntlets in it, which are a nice magic def boost. Head back to the
start of the room, as the other path has nothing. From the entrance, head down
the cliff and head right (ignore the door to the south), taking the southern
path when you can. In this new area, go left and out the door to leave the
eerie cave and enter the black rift.
Here you'll be on a world map, but you aren't displayed in the normal world.
Here head south to finally enter a village called Drakus Tat. Upon entering
the village you'll see a confrontation between two dragon's and the townsfolk
play out. Kairu will get sick of how the dragons are talking to the towns
folk, which of course leads to a fight with them.
Battle
Dragon Warlord x2
400 xp 300 gold
This isn't really much of a fight either, but unlike our last major encounter
with Vai, these dragon's can't hurt us, so use glacius to do some major damage
and the fight will be over soon.
After the battle, the townspeople will thank you, and than they'll ask you to
follow them. They'll take you to a secret basement inside of a house, where
you'll meet none other than Abraxus himself. Kairu will start explaining his
situation to an eager Abraxus. After listening to his story, Abraxus explains
that this world, the black rift, is the end result of the Forbidden sucking in
various worlds, and will surely happen to Artania. In fact, it's already
begun, as Kairu's spirit is only here because he got sucked in due to his
strong tie to the Forbidden when Vai completed the ceremony.
Abraxus will go on to say that the forbidden's next move will be to bring his
body to Artania in order to absorb the world, and that the gateway is at a
place called Isapolis. You will than discuss attacking the Forbidden's body
(which is apparently in this world) in order to stop him. Abraxus states that
it is impossible, as even at the height of his power it would be difficult to
do, but Kairu states he must try, as he heads out.
The people here(the secret swords) can give you a place to rest as well as an
item shop and a very small selection of armor (of which there's nothing new or
worth getting so save your money). There's also a chest in the south east
corner of the room with a blue potion in it.
Head out of the house, heading north past the first open house. see the one
above it to the left? Head for that house and search the small hovel for 700
GP. There's also a chest north of the entrance you came in which has a Drakus
potion in it, you'll find it right by the open house there. After raiding the
meager village, head north up the bridge. Now you may have noticed some other
people who kind of have the same look as Nephi.. and after hearing Nephi state
that he serves the Forbidden I'm sure you've put 2 and 2 together by now, huh?
Well the building north of the bridge is a weapon and armor shop that will
refuse you service, so head to the building to the west of you. Here, the left
guard states that Nephi is a Magna Dragon. Before we head into the manor,
check out the boxes to the south, you'll see some that are stacked that you
can walk onto the lower one, so face west and jump up them to get onto the
balcony. here's the dragon's treasury, so grab the drakus potions, poison
sword, and rebel tricorn. now head back down the stairs and enter the manor.
This is the dragon manor. Head through it, going past the hallway and head up
the stairs until you see three doors and some more stairs heading up. Now the
right door leads to "The Collector" who wants you to collect the legendary
"unnamed gloves" for him as well as the elemental gloves and he'll reward you.
The chest right by him has a curse juju for you.
The middle door is guarded and the left door leads to the prison, neither of
which you can do anything with. The stairs here also just lead out to the
balcony above the treasury, so no need to go there either.
==============================================================================
The Forbidden's Fortress (BS16)
==============================================================================
Now head out to the world map again, we're headed to the Forbidden's Fortress.
To get there, follow the single path east on the world map. When you see an
intersection, you want to head north, as the west path has nothing interesting
of note. You'll see the fortress to the north, so charge in there!
Kairu will think to himself that there has to be multiple weak points to
getting in and you'll regain control. You'll have several places to choose
from to get into this place so I'll list all of your options and what
treasures each path can acquire below. But first let's grab some treasures
before we commit to any path.
To grab these free-for-all treasures, go around the fortress to the cliffs in
back by following the path east of the front door and north past the next
screen. Here Head up the first cliff and go right. Than head back down the
cliff and enter the door you see. Here you can find two chests with a Drakus
Potion and Mask of Despair in them.
Head back and climb up another cliff and enter the door to grab some speed
boots from the chest. One more chest to grab, so climb up the right path
outside the door and head all the way east and climb down two walls to a chest
with a serpent tongue in it. Ok, that's all the treasures without heading into
the fortress proper, so time to choose a path. Here's your options, starting
from the closest to the entrance...
From the (entrance) fall in:
From the entrance, head down the first path to the left. See that weird color
on the ground? Fall through it to enter the fortress. If you talked to the
people in Drakus Tat, you'll remember one of them mentioned a rumor that the
Fortress is actually living! Well, by the looks of the place it's no rumor. In
fact it kind of looks like the alien hive from Contra. Well, head through the
hall and go north, take the door on the right to find some chests with a STR
potion and an Incubus skull in them.
The other door has some chests that you probably grabbed earlier, so keep
heading west. The path is fairly singular, so keep on heading through the
Contra halls until you get a choice of heading north through the light filled
door or south to the other exit. The north door heads outside again to a chest
with an oppa oil in it. Grab it and head south. Follow the hallways again,
until the next open area, where the door to the north has a chest with some
crystal dust in it. Grab it and head out the south exit.
You'll notice in the next room that the south western exit doesn't quite work
(the door can only be opened from the south if you take the "Front Door"
path). If you head to the hallway on the southern path there is also a door,
which leads to another room which is the start of the "no treasure" path, so
take the door to your east. Follow this path and Kairu will find the body, and
heads to attack it. From here jump to the "Back at the Airship" paragraph.
Treasures on the "Entrance fall in" path:
STR Potion
Incubus Skull
Oppa Oil
Crystal Dust
From the front door:
To take the most forward path, go try and enter the front door. The guards
will tell you to scram. Keep trying and the guards will give you several
warnings before attacking you. You'll have to fight three guards here, but
they fall easily with Glacius, dropping the fortress key when they die.
*They error-ed when you get the key, they say you obtain it twice!*
Open the door with the key. Head North through the door in front of you to
find a Rebel Tricorn in the chest to your right. The left one is empty! The
entryway above you is another way to get into this place, so head out of here
and take the door to the right in the entranceway. This next room just head
right and go through the door. You'll be face to face with a chest in this
room, so grab the Ancient Armor that you can't equip. The door to the north
has an INT potion in it as well. Head back out the door and take the south
path around to another room with a hero drink in it.
Head out the path to the right to proceed. The door on the left has a drakus
potion and demonic skull in some chests. Now if you've been craving less
battles throughout the game as I've found myself doing, definitely get this
demonic skull, it causes monsters to be scarred away resulting in less fights.
Head up through this door to reach a wide open area. The south eastern path
leads to the start of the "no treasure" path and the northern exit is barred
from the other side (opened only by the "entrance fall in" path), so that
means you'll have to take the middle eastern path, which leads to the
Forbidden's body. So, of course, Kairu will attack. From here jump to the
"Back at the Airship" paragraph.
Treasures on the "Front Door" Path:
Rebel Tricorn
Ancient Armor
INT Potion
Hero Drink
Drakus Potion
Demonic Skull
Alternate "Front door" path:
You can also drop into the fortress and have access to all the treasures of
the "Front door" path. Instead of fighting the guards, go up to the front door
and take the left path, climbing down the cliff. Head up the path here and on
the next screen take the door to your right to drop into the room with the two
chests in it. From here simply follow the "Front door" path as it has the same
instructions and treasures.
"No Treasure" path:
The final way to get into this place is most definitely the shortest path to
the forbidden's body, but gives you no treasure along the way. To get to it,
go to where you got the Serpent's Tongue, but instead of climbing down the two
cliffs to that treasure, climb up the cliff and enter the door here. This will
drop you off in the fortress, so head south to a big open room. Here the door
to the north ("Entrance fall in" path) and the door to the south ("Front Door"
path) will both be barred, so you're only choice is to go into the door on the
right and go after the Forbidden's body.
Thoughts on the different paths:
Well, as you can read above, there's basically three different paths you can
take. I think that the "Front Door" path is the best, personally, as it has
the most treasure and the Demonic skull, which will probably be a coveted
treasure for those who tire of the game's encounter rate. If you're worried
about which path to take because you want every treasure, don't worry because
you'll get a chance to grab the remaining treasure soon, I promise.
==============================================================================
Here comes the Calvary (BS17)
==============================================================================
Back at the Airship....
Here the story goes back to our party on the emperor's airship. Aurora is
trying to get Kairu to wake up while Isa weeps. Nym will attempt to cast a
spell, but after failing will comment that Kairu's spirit is not present. Wow,
Nym's a little more intuitive than I gave him credit for. He than goes on to
say he can follow the spirit (he is an Ashen Eye after all), and can take one
more person with him. Of course you'll get to choose, so take whomever you
want to partner with Nym. If for some reason you change your mind, just ask
another party member. When your ready go inspect Kairu's body to warp to the
eerie caves. Take this chance to heal up and save.
If you need heal remembering this area, go read up on it in the "Eerie Caves"
section, as it hasn't changed since our visit with Kairu.
Once you reach Drakus Tat, Nym will sense that Kairu's spirit has been here
and you'll have to question the citizens to see if they've seen Kairu or not.
The people you want to ask are two blue-clothed citizens on the right side of
town. They'll take you to Abraxus, who tells you what Kairu set out to do,
prodding you to hurry. He'll also say that if you succeed, you'll need to seal
the Forbidden's spirit away still, and that you should visit his tower by the
Corridor of Clouds, which is accessible by going through the House of White
Stone. Here you can find a magical orb (the sealing orb) that can control
spirits and seal them back into the armaments.
He'll than teach Nym a spell that can allow the party access to his tower. Now
you can open Ashen Eye force fields! Abraxus will urge you to be careful in
his tower, as the forbidden will head there to activate the mechanism to raise
Isapolis from the ocean so he can bring his body into the world.
Ok let's head to the fortress. You can rest up in the secret basement if you
need it. Also grab some moonlight robes for Nym and your partner if you need
it, they are a good boost of DEF at this point and provide protection against
so many ailments.
Head to the Forbidden fortress. Remember those different paths? Well you can
now take the other path and round out your treasure collection, so if you want
to do that, do so. There are also guards at the entrance that will attack
right away once they see you.
FYI, the Incubus skull is a great equip for Nym, so once you get that, put it
on.
Once you get to the Forbidden's Body you will join up with Kairu. Now you'll
have to battle two bodyguards, Kipher and Drakis, who aren't about to let you
just kill their master's body. Boss time!
---------------------------
Boss(es): Kipher and Drakis
---------------------------
This boss battle, as you'll soon find out, is much too easy since you're in
spirit form as Kipher and Drakis can't seem to hurt you at all. Just simply
use all your best attacks (preferably multi-targeted ones) and they'll go down
in no time. Once you finish them off you'll also gain 1400 xp and 1350 gold.
After the battle they'll comment that they are overmatched. Kairu will than
cast Glacius at the Forbidden's Body, only to be repelled by a newcomer called
Ghost Eye. You'll than have to fight him!
---------------
Boss: Ghost Eye
---------------
Ghost Eye: 50000 HP 50000 SP Family: Humanoid Strong: water, fire, wind,
earth, holy, dark Weak: nothing
At the start of the battle he will say that in his master's chamber he is
invincible. Uh oh. Indeed, magic attacks will do 0 damage, while most physical
attacks will deal around 20 damage or so. Looks like we're in trouble.
He uses a spell called Uro which summons a monster to sprout stalagmites under
your feet causing medium damage. He can also use touch of death which will
poison you (instant death not confirmed) and Judge of Sun. His last trick is
Chronos, which causes medium damage to all and can slow you.
Well, as you can see, this is another un-winnable fight. I would imagine with
A LOT of patience you may be able to pull ahead of this boss, so if anyone can
confirm if it changes the story or not drop me a line.
After the fights you'll realize that you can't accomplish your goal and Nym
will transport your spirits back to the real world. Kairu will wake up and
explain what is going on to the party, and that they need to get to the House
of White Stone to get the sealing orb. Isa will suggest that you should talk
to Telesporus.
You'll now have control of the Airship and can go wherever you want! Below is
some optional things you can do
==============================================================================
More exploring and the House of White Stone (BS18)
==============================================================================
Obviously we're supposed to go to Genufa to talk to Telesphorus and try to
find the House of White Stone, but here's some optional things we can do now
that we have an airship:
You can now also visit the House of Black Stone to get Nym the summon Gojir, a
healing spirit. Remember where we saw the "strange presence" in the house of
black stone? Here's a reminder (who wants to scroll up anyways?):
(Also, another reminder, the House of Black Stone is at the north end of the
huge western continent, to the very north).
Of course now we can grab Gojir, so go ahead and grab him, than head out of
here.
Also, you can visit Rogurd's Mansion in Tradefair now, as you can freely
explore it now. There is some oppa oil in the northeast room in the jar above
the piano. also a blue root in the covered jar in the kitchen area by the
entrance as well as an uji nut in the jar north of the dining table. that's
all down here, move upstairs to find a goody in the jar by the stairs.
In the next room over, Rogurd's mom Ursula will try to get him to go on a
blind date. Rogurd's not interested in that at all, so grab the chain mail and
leather gauntlet from the chests. Also check out the treasury in the southwest
part of the second floor to find these treasures:
Elixir, restore oil, white potion, stamina drink, mind drink, and acid bomb.
PELPO PELO is one village we haven't got to visit yet, it's located at on one
of the northern islands in the archipelago south of the middle continent.
Upon entering you can find a blue potion in the barrel north of the entrance
stairs. The inn here costs 50 GP a stay, by the way. The house south of the
inn has a totem in a barrel inside. The northern eastern house is Ormio's Rare
finds, here you can find some nice dark gauntlets that will give you a good
atk boost and slight dark and holy protection. I got some for everyone but
Aurora. There's also a very expensive Tsunami orb here, which gives 115% water
protection, but is oh so pricey at 84000 gold.
The other store here has some standard items, including some new gear:
I got a mace for Rogurd, as it was a decent attk boost. It's been awhile since
we've bought anything, so check all this stuff out and get what you can
afford.
You can also find an ice bomb in barrel to far west of village and crystal
dust in barrel west of bar. Also get the laced boots in hidden path east of
the piano, enter from the bottom. Than grab the white potion and STR potion in
chests in the bar. Challenge the brawlers here for a gossamer sash (they are
so easy to beat).
North of the village is a farm you can visit. The farmer here asks you to help
him weed his garden. Of course, the weeds are really plant type monsters, but
you're a nice guy right?
Check out all the monsters to begin. All of these fights are basically the
same and can be easily won with whatever strategy you come up with. Their
nastiest attack is to blind you, so if they do just use skills as those will
always hit. I highly recommend doing these fights as they give you a lot of
easy exp and at the end the delighted farmer will give you a lucky belt for
helping him.
Well, now that we've done these things, we have to find the House of White
Stone. Now, if you remember from talking to Abraxus, it should be somewhere by
Apogea. If you do go to Genufa, Telesphorus will tell you the same thing. So,
now that we got an airship, lets find the House of White Stone. Go fly above
Apogea (it's in the middle part of the center continent, roughly, the place
you walked to fight the spirit beast). From there, fly directly east a short
ways past the river. See that temple looking thing? That's our destination,
but there's forest everywhere, so you'll have to fly to a portion of land that
has no forest, which is considerably southwest. Oh well, we need the exercise
anyways, right?
Once you enter, head north to find a summon for Nym, Uro, the earth spirit.
Cool. Now head up the steps to the left and get the chest for a earth ward,
which will turn earth damage into SP for you (Kairu or Rogurd only). Also, Nym
can take down the barrier north of the chest, so do so and get the gaia ring
(absorbs 115% earth), sinful eye (dark elemental protection), and white
potion. Now that we have those treasures, go through the force field to the
warp point in the north to get to the second floor. Exit the southern door to
enter the Corridor of Clouds. Use the platform to go to the right.
Well, this certainly looks familiar, no? Remember when aurora and nephi found
that force field that nehpi couldn't do anything with? well, it's directly
north of you and nym can, of course, remove it. Go north from there. The path
to the left is blocked by a fallen pillar and the path to the right is locked
by dark magic (hmm, perhaps if only we had Nephi). So you'll have to enter the
middle door. Do so to enter the Abraxus tower lobby, going north from here to
enter Abraxus Tower first floor.
The door north of you is the dining room, nothing to get there. Go to your
left and enter the north door (the bottom one is the kitchen, nothing to get).
The north door leads to the storage room. check the barrels here for a sky arm
(north covered jar) which no one can equip and some restore oil (Bottom row of
barrels, 2nd from left). Head down the stairs here and south into the huge

basement. Continue through the south door to find a machine, which you need to
power on with magical power. After doing so head back to the first floor and
go up the long stairway on the right.
On this floor, ignore the northern room (containing the treasure less lounge)
and walk around the corner and check out where the green floor leads. Follow
it through the wall to find a teleporter. Use it to go down to the first floor
and claim the MND and hero drinks from the chests. Now head back to the second
floor and take the northwestern door and use the now active teleporter there.
Here, head south to the hallway, following it right through the next southern
door. Here you'll find a puzzle where you must hit the columns which light up
in whatever order they light up in. Hit the computer north of the light-column
thingies to start. You must get six right in a row to activate the teleporter
to the right. And yes, the order changes every time, if you mess up you can
try again by hitting the northern computer again.
This teleporter drops you on the 4th floor. Here head down and take the right
path. Follow it up to a chest with a silver claw (your dark claws are better
though). Take the same path left to a room where you can find an elixir in a
pot. Follow the path all the way left and up, walking against the east wall to
go back into the room to get a chest with another elixir. Now go back to the
teleporter and head right (ignore the empty room to the south), going up to
the next teleporter.
On the 5th floor, head right and up to see three sparkly things on the slabs
and an inactive teleporter. You'll need to examine each sparkly thingy to turn
it on, but each one will pit you against two demons. These guys have enough HP
and punch to be dangerous, so heal up. Taking them down is easy enough, be
liberal and use some SP for your better combo's and abilities and you'll be
ok. Remember to heal between rounds, we haven't saved in awhile!!
Use the teleporter to reach the 6th floor. South of the teleporter is a white
potion in a jar. Head down the pass on the west to see two more teleporters.
Head into the northern one first, to go back to the 5th floor, and use the
computer. Head back into the teleporter and head south past the other one to
go down some stairs. Here grab the Majai Armlet in the chest. Now go back up
and take the bottom teleporter.
Now on the 7th floor, follow the pathway to the room, ignoring the southern
stairs. Here there's a skeleton which left a note behind stating that he was
trapped in this room, and sure enough if you leave the southern exit you'll be
back in that same room. Well, all you have to do is check out the center
column on the right to open up another exit, leading to another room with a
teleporter (seriously, dead guy couldn't figure that out? really?).
In this room, you'll need to select one of two paths from the computer: long
or short. Each has a Starspirit robe at the end, by the way (which reduces SP
costs), and you can go back and take the other path if you feel like it. Long
IS long and Short IS short, so they're not pulling your leg, but you'll have
to do a puzzle on the short path.
Long: This path wants you to walk through a very windy path at the start. But
the good thing is there are quite a few hidden paths through the walls, so
while you walk simply press east against the walls to take several shortcuts.
The next door leads to another room where you need to simply make your way to
another door in the south east. Follow this next hallway to the treasure, and
if you don't care about getting the other armor, head south.
Short: This path makes you run through a rather short hallway, and than north
into another puzzle room. Here you must play match-up with some more colored
columns to unlock the exit, so go ahead (it's very easy). Now take the door
and your prize, another Starspirit robe, and head north.
No matter which way you go, you'll be on the 9th floor. Here you'll have to go
through a maze in a darkened room, with a light around you. Don't even bother
going right, there's nothing but dead ends there, so head left until you must
go down. Here you can find a STA potion my heading straight down and left,
eventually going north to a chest. From the STA potion, head down and right,
going all the way down and to the east. Go as far east as you can and take the
last northern path before hitting the wall. From here take the very next right
to the door to the teleporter.
Whew, 10th floor. Head up to the save point, we've obviously earned it. From
here, check the badly-hidden bookcase/stairway to continue up to the 11th
floor, where the party will find Vai.. I mean the Forbidden. He'll take the
"key to Isapolis" and transport it away, stating that he is ready to get his
body back. The forbidden and the party will argue for awhile before Aurora and
Isa try to cast magic on him, making him angry. He than states that magic can
be given as well as taken and tries to take your magic unsuccessfully. He's
impressed with how far your magic use has come, and than teleports out saying
that he has no time for you, while summoning four evil looking monster things
to surround you.
You'll than have to fight four statues in a boss fight:
---------------
Boss: Statue x4
---------------
Each Status has 5000 HP 5000 SP Family: Doll Strong: Fire Weak: Nothing
Well, to be honest, this fight it fun. We haven't had a real boss fight in
quite awhile. Here, each statue will occupy a corner and man, do they have
quite a few attacks they can use, most of which you know:
Glacius (weak ice dmg)
Flamma (weak fire dmg)
Freeze (can't move)
Curo aira (weak heal to all, the Statue's can and will spam it if they're
about to die)
Whisperwind (???)
Head throw (low range dmg + slow)
Aira toxus (weak dmg, chance of sleep)
and finally their dying move:
Tempest Glacius (dying move, medium dmg to everyone)
Your party is split up when you start this fight, and honestly leave them that
way, as you don't want multiple members falling to Aira Toxus, which is a
horizontal attack. Also be sure to focus on just one statue at a time, as you
DON'T want multiple statues casting Tempest Glacius on you either. All of the
other attacks are definitely bearable, just make sure to keep your HP above
150 at all times, just to be safe. I had Nym using Judge of Sun for good
damage, while Kairu and Rogurd were using their long range dashing attacks. I
was pretty lucky and no one got put to sleep, although I did get a bit cocky
and used Tempest Glacius on my own once, almost killing two statues. This is
when they spam Curo Aira, so like I said, focus on one as they get hard to
kill when more than one are spamming heals. Keep this strategy up and they'll
all fall soon enough.
2800 xp 2000 gold for you!
After the fight, go examine the northwest bookcase and continue on. Here grab
the yellow sealing orb and use the convenient teleporter to head back to the
lobby. You'll end up on your airship, planning on cutting off Abraxus at
Isapolis. The party deems that they should check the seas, or go ask
Telesphorus as he might know where Isapolis is.
==============================================================================
The Doll Factory and Isapolis (BS20)
==============================================================================
--Bacter Checks in to guide you 'round Doll Factory--
This is a pretty short place.
Head up and left to begin with getting wood hands, the apex robe, and cosmos
around the save point. There is an Ur-Guardian guarding a room, but he is
barely a challenge anymore. Waste him and go in the room to get Doll! Go south
to the elevator, and get the harmonic ring and high-tech part. The part will
turn on the computer, which allows for opening the locked door near the
entrance which gives more items and another Ur-Guardian battle. Waste it, grab
the items, and get out of here!
(Bkstunt's Notes:)
Doll joins at lvl 41 with:
Velox: Boosts an ally's speed, single target, 36 SP
Celes Mistis: holy rain paralyzes enemies, all targets, 30 SP
Arch Fira: Unleash a miniature sun, large area, 99 SP
Curo Aira: Breeze heals all allies, all targets, 34 SP
Purifi: Removes all status ailments, single target, 8 SP
He even has the following combos learned:
Doll and Kairu:
Celes Sword: A holy blade blinds enemy *can blind, single target, 30 SP Doll
75 SP Kairu
Doll and Rogurd:
Dilato: All attacks are long ranged, all targets, 25 SP Doll 42 SP Rogurd
Doll and Isa:
Sonic Slash: Holy kinetic double attack, medium area, 30 SP Doll 12 SP Isa
Arch Tornadus: A whirlwind of flame confuses the enemy, *can confuse, all

Doll and Nym:
Muss Orbis: Muus' healing enhanced by Isa's abilities (TYPO HERE SHOULD SAY
NYM VICE ISA), all targets, cures disable, 25 SP Doll 16 SP Nym
You can also visit Gavin's house with Rogurd now for a special scene.
Also take note that there is a hidden island in SE ocean with a shop that
sells items from catalogs (You can find a lucivar herb in the southern
barrel).
Catalog 1:
Ocean Tears 6000 gold
Searing Blades 7500 gold
Venum Skiver 7000 gold
Iron hands 3000 gold
Mana ring 20000 gold
Black petal 5000 gold
GREAT weapon upgrades for Isa, Nephi, and Nym.
Also grab the goodies in the shop for a hero drink, marble flower (increases
hp by 50%), and demons arm (cursed but powerful; causes burn, confusion,
slow).
--Bacter Pops in to tell you guys about Isapolis--
Isapolis is SW of the main continent, it's tough to see and doesn't show up on
the map but it's there.
Enemy List:
Temple Guardian: 2000 HP, Drops Crystal Dust, no steals

Patroller: 1800 HP, no drops, steal Mind Cure
Once in the main hall, grab some items and head to the teleporter right by the
Majai Armlet, which teleports you to the...
WATER AREA
There are tons of teleports here. Most of them will net you some items, which
is nice. You can get a pungent bomb, stamina drink, Adventurer's Hat, and
Fireray in here. Right by the adventurer's hat is a lever which, when lowered,
moves a ladder in place. Take that ladder to get the fireray, and return to
the southwest corner of the water area. Take the brown portal to the
EARTH AREA
Going up and left will lead to a secret pathway with some neat armor. Take the
nearby stairway down a level, where you take a warp, then the warp near that.
This gets you the second elevator lever. By that warp there are two spots you
can jump down, take the leftmost one. Take the green warp to the
WIND AREA
Make SURE you don't leave this area without the midnight sword. This area is
pretty straightforward, flip the switch to reveal one level or another in this
area. There is also a restore oil to nab here. Flip the third elevator switch
and head back to warp to the
FIRE AREA
In the lava room, go counterclockwise to a switch, draining the lava. This
reveals an item and a path in the bottom left leads to another item. Make for
the top right of the area to get the final elevator switch. With all four
switches flipped, teleport back to the starting area and head north to the
elevator. All four parts on the ground should be flashing, giving power to the
elevator. Ride it up to
FLOOR 2
There are two switches here, light to the left, dark to the right. They are
very straightforward, and note that you can get an elixir going either path.
Flip them and head back to the elevator to go to the top level. Save at the
save point here and grab the glowing spheres from the left side chest before
facing up to the boss!
--Bacter is scared of the boss and runs away--
-------------------
Boss: Forbidden Vai
-------------------
18000 HP 25000 SP Family: Humanoid Strong: Nothing Weak: Nothing
Use your best attacks as now you can finally "overcome" him. Isa's heal-all
spell is great and I'm sure you know which attacks to spam with Kairu. Feel
free to expend SP to use your dual techs in this fight and you will finish him
off.
1000 xp 1000 gold are yours.
After the fight the Forbidden applauds you but states the portal is already
open. The body comes out and Nym tries yet again to seal his spirit. Just when
it looks like it worked, the body moves, telling you it is too late, as he
kicks Vai's unconscious body aside..
He'll than jump into the black rift portal, leaving you in a falling down
Isapolis. Cracks will appear separating you from Vai, as Isa wants to rescue
her father, but since the place is falling, the party starts to leave,
dragging Isa with them.
You'll now be back on the wind path, so follow the one way trail here. You'll
eventually come out to the entrance of Isapolis. Don't forget to grab the
chest on the way!
As soon as you leave, you'll see the air outside is all wavy like... than the
party members will start falling down and getting pulled around. OH, the world
is fusing! Well darn, this is the price of our failure I guess. You'll soon
gain control of Nephi and Aurora in the new fused Artania. Nephi will seem a
little downcast, until Aurora cheer him up. They'll decide to try and find a
town to gather info from, and you'll find yourself right next to Drakus Tat.
Go ahead and enter it.
--Bacter's Notes: If you didn't find yourself thinking "Run! Run! Or you'll
bewell done!" At any point during the previous scene, shame on you. Go play
Final Fantasy VI. Seriously. Right NOW!--
==============================================================================
Drakus Tat again and the Majai Temple (BS21)
==============================================================================
Once you do, Nephi will tie Aurora up and drag her off to Dragon Manor! When
he arrives, the guards will praise the return of their king! Interesting.
Nephi will ask where the high lord is, and his retainer will state that Kipher
is out. Nephi will have his guards prepare an interrogation room, and than
he'll take Aurora down to the prison area. Of course once you are alone, Nephi
will free Aurora and explain his plan of using her to obtain information about
the Forbidden through his position (as well as some more back story).
You now have free reign, but can't leave the manor. You can go see the
collector though. Remember the guy who wanted the unnamed gloves?
If you hand them over, you will be given the Ixion gloves, which grant some
stat bonuses but more importantly grants long range attacks! Cool. Well, we
now have little choice, so go into the throne area and grab the lord there to
start interrogating Aurora.
During the "interrogation", you'll learn from Nephi about the Rift key, as
well as make Aurora Nephi's personal "slave". I'm fairly impressed that Aurora
didn't blow the whole thing, to be honest.
Well, now that we're free to roam around unchecked thanks to Nephi, you can
finally visit the "Bloody Gear" equipment store. Here you'll find some new
equipment and an item store. The weapons and armor here are pretty good, so if
you have the money pick them up:
Man Eater 13500
Jeweled Knives 8250
Velvet Robe 14000
There isn't much left to do in Drakus Tat. Abraxus is gone, by the way, so
head back to the entrance to meet Kipher. It seems Kipher isn't really going
to submit to Nephi, stating that Rhys will be glad if he takes Nephi down.
Well, talk is cheap..
Dragon strike: weak dmg
Dark breath: (This never hit me)
Triple-strike: 3 weak hits
Drakus potion
Really not much of a fight, Kipher's attacks do very little damage to you.
Plus you totally have range on your side, so just keep pelting Kipher with
daggers any chance you get. When he got close to me, I ran away from him and
used a skill on him. Of course you can use your skills to speed the battle up,
such as backstab, although you really don't need them.
The scene will than shift to Rogurd and Nym's fate. Here Nym will wake up
Rogurd by summoning a waterfall, and than you'll gain control of the pair.
Head into the village to your left to proceed. As you might have guessed by
the lay of the land, this village is Pelpo Pelo. Rogurd will than state that
they should head to the pub to acquire a ship, so off we go.
In the bar you'll find Gavin, whose attempting to get some of the local
sailors to accompany him to a ruin on his ship to search for "IT". Of course
no one will go, so despite Rogurd's great rivalry with Gavin in order to get
off of the island you will have to help him search the ancient Majai temple
for "IT". Rogurd will apologize to Nym for the delay, but than he'll finally
tell Nym that "IT" is supposed to be a key to another world. A short boat trip
later and you'll have to enter the temple.
The door right in front of you is locked, so go check out the levers behind
it. Hitting these will unlock the door but cause the floor to fall in on your
way to it, so just take the left cliff back up and proceed through the right
wall to enter the door.
Here the middle lever will drop an enemy if you activate it, but all the other
levers and upcoming ones don't seem to do anything. Even if you hit them, they
don't even move. After going down a few sets of stairs, Gavin will leave you
to take the first treasure chest you find! That bugger! Continue on to a room
where you can see several chests and Gavin will ask you to pull the lever. Go
ahead and pull it. This will cause ladders to appear on several of the blocks
in the room, giving you access to several treasures but also dropping enemies
in the room.
Move around the room and grab the chests to find a MND, SPD, INT, and STA
potions. When you grab those, make your way to the switch in the southwest
corner and hit it. Now you can enter the door to the north and continue. Of
course, Gavin has grabbed another treasure, so continue until you meet him
again. This is the part where you'll both have to step on a plate. After you
do, run south while avoiding the obvious spike placements to beat Gavin to
the door.
Yes, even if you beat him he'll still go first.
The next room will have a treasure chest! Did Gavin go blind? Grab the coral
mace and continue down the stairs. There will be a slate here that reads
"first to last they come: riches, escape, doom". Hmm interesting. Rogurd will
say it must be a clue.
The next room will have four doors, each with a symbol in front of it. Above
the doors is also a set of symbols in order. Well than, enter the first
symbol's door (first according to the symbols above the doors). Search above
you to find a Legend Axe for Rogurd (equip!). Enter the second door to come to
another room.
Here the first door once again has a treasure: a sun orb. The second door will
lead you to yet another room. Here the first door has an abalone helm. Go on
to a 4th room. Here you can get a hero drink. Finally continue on to reach the
end of the rooms. Here go down the stairs and head south, there's another
puzzle room here but it appears Gavin's already solved it and taken both
treasures.
Continuing on will drop you down the stairs. Keep pressing forward to see
Gavin by a chest and an urn with a button. Pressing the button inside releases
a monster by you and two by him, and he'll run leaving you an iron helmet.
The next room you want to avoid the first two levers and get the last one to
continue. move through the next couple of rooms to find a save and heal point
and than continue. Here Gavin will be waiting for you. From here in you'll
have to face a number of rooms that you need to speed through (they give you 5
minutes):
Room number 1 is fairly easy, so press forward.
Avoid the incoming rocks in room number 2: each one will knock you back a bit.
Try to avoid the enemies in room number 3: the chest here has a gem claw so
try and grab it at least as it boosts attack beyond your dark claw. Use your
most powerful skills to end the battles fast.
In the Indiana Jones room, simply run south without the boulders hitting you.
And yes, run south, letting the boulders go first is a waste of time. Keep to
the right as you can nab a Oceans arm. When you can choose your next path, go
down the left side.
In the falling blocks room, head to the left edge for an elixir and continue.
Take a moment to heal up before you go on though.
In this room you finally catch up to Gavin. After saving his life and getting
duped by him again, you'll come face to face with Ghosteye!
Ghosteye will finally be beatable, so go all out here.
--------------
Boss: Ghosteye
--------------
Here he can summon Tropic Nightmare's (which can use Berserk) and use his old
trick Uro. He can also summon Judge of Sun. Each summon does fairly light
damage, so use your best skills to attack him. The only problem I think you
could possibly have in this fight is if the tropic nightmare's cause you to
not be able to heal. Even than, though, I think you'd come out on top merely
because of the atk boost being in berserk gives you. If you healed up earlier,
you shouldn't have any problems with this fight.
1700 xp 1500 gold
After the scene's we'll now switch to Kairu and Isa's fate.
==============================================================================
Polemaze, Meeting up again, and the Silver Ark (BS22)
==============================================================================
--Bacter crash lands with Kairu and Isa--
Kairu and Isa were pretty powerful when I played this through, so this section
wasn't too hard for me. It was also QUITE straightforward, probably the
shortest of the post-world-breakup quests. You crash onto Polemaze's temple.
Search the bottom in the center for some descending pads. Once there, just
head downward. There are items along the way, but they are all in plain sight.
You'll eventually fight some dragon warlords, which is really just a warm up
battle for when you face
------------
BOSS: Drakis
------------
HP: 8000 EXP: 400 GP: 350
If you're appropriately healed up, this guy is a CAKEWALK. Just use some
combos and he crumples right up.
Head down into the village, and talk to Isa. Rest in one of the north houses,
and loot the town (two Lucivar herbs, a magician's glove and a crystal shard)
When you're ready, head right and go into the forest past the guardian. Now go
right and down to find a pond where everybody meets up with Juji. There's a
scene and we're done
==???==
If you woke up Doll before Isapolis, Doll awakens and can only go north.
You'll find the Lucivar's ring chest, which halves SP consumption. OH MY that
is nice.
==Genufa==
After everybody's stuff is done with, they all meet up here. Roguard has a
private ship which would be nice to get, so talk to the guy by the Ring of
Memories' entrance and say you want to go to Melmoth Entrance. From there go
counter-clockwise around the lake to get to the bridge. Start to head across
it and I think I'll take my leave from you now!
--Bacter goes to sleep--
As you get about halfway through the bridge, you'll be attacked by a huge
mutant seahorse!!
-------------------------------
Boss: Deep Monster & Body Armor
-------------------------------
Deep Monster:
16000 HP 5000 SP Family: Demon Strong: Water, Fire, Earth Weak: Nothing
Body Armor:
15000 HP 1000 SP Family: ??? Strong: Nothing Weak: Water, Dark
Well, even though deep monster has a very generic name and can't stop
blinking, he's not that hard at all. In fact, I've only ever seen him perform
two attacks:
Flood: Weak water dmg. to all.
Ranged attack: Weak dmg.
He'll also use Curo Aira when he's damaged, although it doesn't help him out
that much.
This battle isn't exactly a challenge, so I'm sure you can come up with almost
any way to beat it. I personally used Arch Tornadus over and over until Deep
Monster was dead.
After the battle you'll find a sigil necklace on the beast. Hmm, it seems the
armaments have started appearing in this world, without the curse. The party
will agree to take the sigil pieces to Telesphorus.
Lets continue on to Tradefair.
If you want to make a side trip you can go through Cascadilla to get to Orchid
Valley. Check out the mayor's house (upper left house) to grab the cursed
gauntlets out of the barrel. Two houses to the right you can buy some new
blades for Isa, Serrated Sabers, for 16500, if you can swing it. You can also
head out the village to the south to stop by the temple of Lucivar if you
haven't picked up that summon for Nym yet.
When you reach Tradefair, a stranger will give Kairu a letter from an
"attractive girl" who wants to meet him at the magnificent fortress near
Drakus Tat. Yeah, probably a trap. This is the "Shy Maiden" sub quest which
we'll go into later on, as we'll need to accomplish it sooner or later, so
hold on for now and we'll get to it.
Anyways, head into Tradefair. The first thing you should do is make sure
Rogurd is in the party, and than head to the fine arts shop. Here talk to the
curator, who will tell you that's he's found a very old helm that he'd sell
you for 100,000 gold. Now let Rogurd take over, and in the end buy it for
20,000 gold to get yourself the second Armament: Sigil Helm.
The Fine Clothier shop also has some new items for your perusal:
Velvet Robe: 14000 gold
Sandchain helm (resists earth): 8000 gold
Black Cowl (resists holy and dark): 7600 gold
Diamond Gauntlet (minor all elemental protection): 6500 gold
Scarlet Glove: 7000 gold
There's also some new stuff next door at the finest blade shop:
Aside from the shopping, you can visit the Rich House again, as Neet as ran
off and needs to be found. Well let's go grab him. To find him, head to the
pub than in the sewers. Here go in the first door and down the stairs. Go
through the door on the left and run through the hallway taking the door to
the south (there will be a light colored bar to show you where). Now make that
blue haired weenie go back home! Go talk to his dad for 3000 gold.
Now head to Rogurd's mansion, or rather his port. His ship, the Silver Ark, is
finally done being repaired, and you can now freely sail anywhere. Yeah!
==============================================================================
Exploring: Volcano Caves and Firebeard's Tomb (BS23)
==============================================================================
Well, as you know, time to explore! Here's what you can find:
We can go to Gavin's house to learn about Firebeard/s treasure. Gavin states
that Ravin is also after it, and Firebeard's descendants have the other half
of the map.
You can also visit Arkal Skybase but it is in ruins (Make sure to save before
entering here, the enemies are rough). You can find Sun's Arm here for doll,
just get on the northern wall and you'll find it in a chest on the right side
of the wall. You'll have to wind your way around the skybase to get to it, by
going south, than north east (aim for where Mondu used to be) to get on the
wall. You'll also notice that the path to Ralbania Castle is open, although
you can't seem to do much here yet. Beware, the enemies here are rough, as
they can charm and confuse you, so be prepared!
You can access Xanadu castle, but you need to park your boat on the
southwestern side of the continent and walk your way up to the castle. It is a
long walk.
Once you get there, you can fight in the Devil's ring at Xanadu castle. You
can do solo battles or team battles
BEWARE!
MY GAME FROZE AT MY FIRST TEAM BATTLE!!
This part of the game seems to be a bit glitch-y, so make sure to save before
you try anything. What we really want here is the SIGIL ARMOR. So go for one
solo battle and quit and you should get it. I had TOO much trouble with the
game glitching out on me to fully battle through here like I wanted to.
I really hope you fare better than I did.
---Volcano Caves---
You can also go to Ponsu, and since the springs have dried there will be a new
path we can take here. Head into the hot spring area and go to the northeast
to talk to a young boy who tells you about the path. Now just head down it to
a new area: "???". Keep heading south and than east to go into the cave
opening. Here you'll be in the Volcano Caves.
Head north to a big room. First lets grab a treasure here, so head to the
northwest corner of this room to find a staircase heading down. Here you can
find a chest with an organic helm in it. Give it to whomever could use it,
it's a nice helm. Now head back towards the entrance by heading south. You'll
see another path heading south before you get there, so head down it into the
next room. Here patches of the path will glow with lava, which will make you
start the room over, so avoid them. Grab the chest on the left for a stamina
drink. You can also find an ice bomb to the north.
After getting through this room, head around the stairs and press left into
the wall above them. You'll find a hidden path, so go left and up to a chest
with a blazing glove in it. Now head down the stairs below. Here push the
boulder onto the spring, so you can make the plates work. You can step on the
plates to move upwards, choosing between the door on the right or left.
First let's go through the right door. Here grab the chest for a blazed eye
and head back. Now lets go through the left door and you'll end up on what
appears to be lava. Luckily enough though, you can walk over it. Here head up
through the arch to the right door. In this new, yet similar area, the floor
will glow, teleporting you back to the entrance, so beware and look for places
to stop. Head right to grab a lost left blade from the chest. You can find a
foot hold to your northwest, so go to it and head north to grab a str potion.
Now head west, stopping on the safe spots. Ride the plate north and grab the
chest for an elixir. Now head around this safe path and drop down when you can
back to the lava. Run from the plate to the big safe spot. Next run to the
NORTHERN smaller safe spot (the southern one will disappear, so don't trust
it). Now run south down to the stairs and continue on through to the next
room. This room has quite a few paths available, but it's easy to see where
your going, so head east than north. Go through this room and down the stairs.
Here you will find a spirit beast that's been causing earthquakes. Now you
basically have one of two choices here, you can put the thing out of it's
misery and obtain a life sphere (which grants you regen), or you can try to
tame it. Taming it is supposed to grant Nym and Rogurd the dual-tech "Moby
Dick". HOWEVER, it is well known that the combo does NOT appear and you CAN'T
use it, so you might as well deal the whale a mercy blow and take the life
sphere. Investigate the shiny spot to leave the caves.
---End Volcano Caves---
South of the place you use to go to xanadu castle, you can go south a ways and
find an opening in the mountains by a landing place for your ship. why not
stop by?
The place will first be called ???, so go through the door to "A suspicious
creek". Keep heading north until you come to "A pirate... village?". Head into
the first house here, and go to the room on the left to grab a chest for 2500
gold in the brown chest and a sun gem from the yellow chest. You can also find
a star shard and an evasion charm in the other chests. Now go talk to the
pirate. Since we've stopped at Gavin's house, Kairu will ask about Firebeard's
map. The pirate will refuse to talk, but after hearing what the party will do
to him, he spills the beans quick.
He'll state that his boss has teamed up with Ravin and that they killed Gavin
for his half of the map. He'll than state that the island is to the south of
the Genufan desert. This obviously gets to Rogurd. We must avenge Gavin!
Before we head out, don't forget to take the ladder by the pirate to head
upstairs. Here grab the chests for 3000 gold, iron net, and a cursed dart.
Also make sure to visit the storage house to find some chests and grab the
gossamer sash and a black silk robe. Equip the robe on someone as well, it's
got very good elemental protection.
South of the Genufan desert, you can indeed find a small cave. Upon entering
it you'll be in Firebeards tomb. You'll have to fight your way past some
pirates. Further in you'll meet the dreadful Ravin.. wait! Hmm.. well it seems
we better play along for now. Gavi.. er, Ravin will convince the pirates to
let us go ahead and clear out the monsters. In this first room you'll see
numerous paths to choose from. Don't even bother going right, there's nothing
but dead ends there. Take the first path on the left to get to a chest with a
STR potion.
Take the second path and you'll see two doors. Take the left one and in the
next room head left and go down to the previous screen. Here grab the chest
for a vagrant charm. You can also find a black cowl on the skeleton. Go
through the middle path and up around to the next cave entrance. In this next
room (Firebeard's Tomb - Final Resting) head right to grab a Macabre Lance.
Firebeard: 25000 HP 4000 SP Family: Humanoid Undead Strong: Fire Dark Weak:
Nothing
He can use:
Flamma (Weak fire dmg)
Possession (??? Never hit me)(weak dmg)
Shock Slash (weak dmg)
Flamma Orbis (weak fire dmg, close range)
Arch Fira (Medium fire dmg)
Well this fight is fairly easy as long as you are conservative with healing. I
had one person attacking from the right and one from the left, while another
spammed ranged attacks from below. The only attack Firebeard does that you
should watch out for is that I've seen him use Arch Fira twice in a row, so
keep your HP up at all times. Other than that you'll have little trouble.
When he dies you get 3000 XP and 5000 gold.
The ghost will allow you to the treasures, but before you do Blackbeard will
order his troops to kill the party and Ravin. Well, lets show them who they're
messing with. After the battle, Gavin will take all of the treasures, only
giving us a life sphere.
Head back to the pirate village and go to the room where the guard was
standing to find it open now. Apparently this is the bosses treasure room, so
loot the chests for a silver ring, rising sun, and white potion. The skeleton
also has a cursed gauntlet on him. You can also "convince" the pirate in the
storage area to quit the pirating life if you want.
==============================================================================
Getting Rogurd's stuff back and the Desert of Black Sands (BS24)
==============================================================================
If you go to tradefair again, by the way, Neet has run away yet again. This
iteration is hard to find, but that's why I'm here huh? To find Neet go to the
docks to the left of the city and find him behind the pub. Now return to the
dad for a 10000 gold reward. Sweet.
If you head to Rogurd's mansion, everything is gone! Even his mother! He will
suggest that they should go to Gavin's. You can also check out the pub in the
poor section of town and have Rogurd scare the thieves away. Of course before
you take their treasure they'll come back and fight you, but after you win
check the chest for a golden crown (elemental protection, can't be charmed).
Well, since Rogurd has had everything stolen, lets head to Gavin's. Gavin's
house is also empty! Rogurd and Gavin will than agree to work together to
track down the most likely culprit.. Ravin.
You'll find Ravin's Mansion in almost the exact smack middle of the world on
an island. Before you enter, be sure to save your game. Upon entering, Rogurd
will state that the painting is HIS! Of course than the guards will attack you
for calling Ravin a thief. Well, lets go see what's in this mansion.
Through the left door, you can pick up the food tray on the floor, so be sure
to get this. Up in the hall, you can also light the last remaining torch to
open the door to your north. Take these stairs up to the second floor hallway.
The door to the southwest leads to the barracks. Here there's a note on the
wall: "Make sure you know who has guard duty over the Floor Key at all times!
-Ravin"
Well, lets get that key. Head out of here and take the northwest door. This
room has a door on the left and right, so take the left door. Go talk to the
guard and you'll find the floor key. Excellent (Mr. Burns plug).
Also grab the treasures for scarlet gloves, and a Lumina Dress. You can also
find a not around here about "Bad Deeds".
Up to the right go past the guards who warn you about Ravin's pet and up the
stairs. On this 3rd floor, be sure to grab the Cursed Mail in the jar.
This section is the hedge gardens "maze" not much of a maze really. The first
chest here has nothing in it. You'll also see the pet running around. If you
run into it you will have to fight him, but he's only one hell hound, so no
worries. Head to the upper right corner for a love whip for Aurora. Up in the
upper left corner is a Cyclops for Nym. Down in the lower left corner you can
fall through the floor to land by the chest with a Sorcerer's hat in it. Take
the door north and go back upstairs.
Head through the maze and go to the upper left room. Here play the piano, and
your character will play the notes "Bad Deed" and hear a door open. Go back
out and enter the door to the entrance. Now grab your treasure: another Gold
Ring (raises SP by 25%). Now take the northern doors.
Hypnotic Lore: (Again, never hit me)
Commander Lore: Summons Guards
Herbalist Lore: Ravin heals with blue herb, blue root, lucivar herb, uji nut,
and finally uji flower.
This fight is also another easy one, despite Ravin's high hp count. The guards
he summons will each fall in one hit, and herbalist lore is no where near
effective enough to heal Ravin. Have fun slaughtering this thief..
You'll gain 3800 XP 5900 Gold And a Black Cowl.
(Also note that I've read on the boards you can steal Rogurd's ultimate
weapon, replica here).
After the battle, the crazy lady from when we first met Rogurd comes in and
claims Ravin is her son. Rogurd has the party scram while they can. Now head
out of the mansion. DO NOT go talk to Rogurd's mom, as it is yet another well
known glitch (This game is TRULY full of glitches). Once you do leave the
mansion, Rogurd will state that it will be torn down to retrieve his things.
While you're out sailing around, you may have noticed a small desert area
south of Genufa. Well, try entering it and you'll be in the Desert of Black
Sands, so lets explore. From the entrance, head south to the next screen. Here
head south and east under the walkway to get the worm tail from the chest. Now
head back to the entrance. To your right you'll see you have a couple of
choices, but go up the ramp and follow it to another chest, this time with
Desert Armor inside. Head back to the beginning of the ramp, and take the
southern path now.
On the next screen, go south ASAP (which will lead to a new screen) and than
head west to another screen for a MND Potion in a chest. Head to the previous
screen and steer south up the ramp. Keep going and grab the chest for a
training sword, heading right under the walkway to the next screen. Head
through the arch here to find a white potion and a wisdom rune (raises
wisdom). Now head back to the screen right before we got the MND potion.
Now lets head north, than go east. Now you'll see two paths heading north,
take the first one and work your way around south. Head east and than north
from here. Keep heading north and you'll see a cave entrance. Go through the
cave and you'll get that chest you saw earlier for a stamina drink. Head back
out the cave and take the south east exit from this screen to find a chest
with some shining gloves in it.
Head out of here using the west exit, than head south and east to the next
screen. Now head south and west to reach some stairs. Descend if you dare!
You dared? Good. Head north into the next room. Here take the door to your
east(the one heading south) to find a stone flower in the chest (it raises HP
by 25%). Head back out and check out Mr. Richie Mc-rich Pants skeleton here as
he's carrying around 10000 gold! Head north into the door to find a harvester
in a chest (big jump in atk for Rogurd). Now head out of the room and north
through the western door. There's a glitch here as well that you may see: When
you first enter the room you may get the sigil gauntlet, another artifact
piece. Technically you're not supposed to get it until after beating the giant
snake thing north of you:
-------------------
Boss: Ancient Beast
Left Arm
Right Arm
-------------------
Ancient Beast: 25000 hp 5000 sp Family: Beast Strong: Water, Fire, Earth, Dark
Weak: nothing
Left Arm: 11000 hp 7000 sp Family: Beast Demon Strong: Wind Earth Holy Dark
Weak: water Fire
Right Arm: 10000 hp 1000 sp Family Beast Demon Strong: Fire Earth Dark Weak:
Water Wind Holy
Tremor: (Weak earth dmg)
Sand Spit: (Weak earth dmg, may cause blindness)
Well, this beast isn't too hard, as you have seen by now most of the bosses
throughout the game aren't very challenging compared to how many enemies you
wade through to get to them. Just spam your most powerful skills to make the
fight go by faster. I liked using Airus Toxus through the fight combined with
focusing on one arm at a time. Anyways, when you're done you'll gain 6000 xp
and 6000 gold.
Oh, and you may even get the sigil gauntlet again! :)
We're done here, so head back to the ship.
==============================================================================
Vengeance on Mondu and the Strange Caves (BS25)
==============================================================================
(Note: This is part of the SHY MAIDEN quest, which we talked about earlier,
and you must have visited Tradefair to trigger the quest.)
First of all, the maiden wants you to come to Forbidden's Fortress, which is
now located roughly in the middle of the center continent. To get there, park
your boat in the NE portion of the continent and walk south and west (ignore
the mountain looking thingies, keep going west). You'll go around a mountain
path, but end up going south to see the big castle like structure. Here you'll
be back at the Forbidden's Fortress. Now you just need to get to the boss
room, where we met Ghosteye.
Once you get there, you'll see Mondu in drag. Ugh. I could have gone all my
life without that image. Anyway, Mondu will have the party go up and wait in
the above room, leaving Kairu alone with Mondu. Once the party is without
Kairu, they will be attacked by five lost explorers, so take them down. After
the scene's, you'll be in a 1 vs. 1 fight with Mondu.
Sword Dance: Three low dmg attacks
Power Slam: Paralyzes and low dmg
Ice Bomb: Ice DMG, freeze in place
Fury strike: One low dmg attack
This fight is pretty easy if you've been using Kairu at all. I recommend
having Sword Dance, as it will really speed the battle up, and of course make
sure to have a couple of Draken potions handy. I was at level 58 when I fought
him, and seriously I didn't even need healing at all, but he did freeze me in
place and paralyze me a couple times. However, Mondu is so sad you can sit
there and take the damage until you can retaliate. If you are having trouble
for whatever reason, try using your Marble Flower for 50% more HP, and spam
Sword Dance. You should be fine.
After the fight, you'll gain 3000 XP and 3000 gold, and Mondu's Armor.
The party will come in and check on you, having a good laugh at your expense.
Kairu will claim the Sigil Sword now, which should complete your Armament
collecting! There is also a SPD potion if you check inside the wall where the
lost explorers came out. We have one more stop: the Strange Caves. Lets head
there now.
To get there, head up to the west side of the upper non-frozen continent. Make
your way through the mountains by sailing inland from the southwest. You
should see a cave opening to your north soon, so undock and enter to get to
the Strange Caves.
Here head up the stairs and through the arch to the north to find a Lost Right
Blade on your left and a mind drink on your right. Now head down the stairs.
In this new room, take the stairs to your south and head to the bottom right
corner for an Abraxus Robe (Raises Max SP), a pretty nice item. Head back up
the stairs and right. Keep going right for a white potion, than head back and
south and go down the stairs.
In this room, stay on the upper level and grab the chest to the right for a
strength wrist. Head through the cave and get in the water for a Saint's Arm
for Doll. Now head west and out the door here. Head south and down the stairs.
In this room, head right, and down the stairs into the water. To your left in
the water is a chest with some restore oil.
Now head back up and take the path to your left heading south. Follow it
around to three chests with a star shard, rainbow star (makes damage all-
elemental) and hurricane gloves (wind protection). Head back out and down the
FIRST set of stairs, than head right and south down the following stairs.
Here head right and down two sets of stairs, going left to grab the Majai
Tiara. Also take the hidden stairs to your right to grab a crystal (heals 100%
SP). Now take the door to the south. Here you will find the ruins of Isapolis,
so go through the doors and you'll find an unconscious Vai. Isa will run to
her father, and the party will head back to Genufa to take care of him.
However, it seems Vai's spirit has left so we'll need to gather the Armaments
to have Nym save him. Well lucky for us we already have them all. Nym will
revive Vai and the party will leave the Isa with him.
Later on, Vai will see the blunder of his ways and offer to join the party to
fight the Forbidden. Congratulations, you now have Vai in your party. He comes
with some nice equipment and at level 57, so make good use of him.
==============================================================================
Polemaze and Seremaze (BS26)
==============================================================================
--Bacter takes interest again--
Well! Now that all that SIDE QUEST business is out of the way, let's get back
to the main event, shall we? Good!
You're going to want to head back to the SW continent, on the north side, back
to the Polamaze Temple. Once you get to Polamaze village you'll decide to
split the party in two. I'm not going to say who to put in which group (but I
split it up like this: Polamaze- Kairu, Isa, Nym, Doll and Seramaze- Aurora,
Vai, Roguard, Nephi), but make sure you have a healer in each group, do.
Let's tackle Seremaze!
There is some light reflecting puzzles in here. To solve them
B1: hit S switch
B2: Hit S and NE switches and get onyx helm. Turn off S switch, flip W switch
B3: Hit W switch, hit S and NE switches, turn off S switch
Go north and find the ladder down. When you descend it's...
25000 HP 15000 SP Family: Demon Doll Strong: Fire Weak: Nothing
Arch Fira (Charging fire attack, Medium fire dmg area, burns)
Tempus Glacius (Charging ice attack, medium ice dmg all, can't move)
Celes ignus (Charging holy attack, medium holy dmg all, may paralyze)
Sacrifice (death move, VERY high dmg, single target)
Well, this enemy is very predictable. He spends each turn charging up either a
fire, ice, or holy attack and than casts it on the next turn. These attacks
can take a small chunk of your life away, but aren't anything you can't take.
Use Aurora to heal when you need to. Also use Renovo Huma if you brought
Rogurd and Nym along like I did. Keep using your skills if you can't move or
just regular attacks and this boss will fall. When he does his death attack,
Sacrifice, one of your team is very likely going to die unless you're leveled
enough where you have enough HP. He hit my lvl 59, 999 HP Rogurd for around
860 damage, so I was lucky, but since he dies afterwards you'll be ok.
You'll be given 1500 xp and 1500 gold.

You'll immediately move on to Polemaze with Isa's group (I had Isa, Kairu, and
Nephi).
Go up the east walkway and move down to the first floor. Here you can head
right through the wall (see where the path leads into the wall) to get to
another section of the first floor. Grab the white potion here and move back
to the previous screen and go down the ladder.
Down here take the left path to the door. Here grab the half-moons from the
chest. Now lets head back and take the right path. Here head right (ignore the
upper path) and down when you can to go through the door in the south. In this
room, head left and go down the ladder. Here take the right path to save your
game. You can go ahead and walk past the boss to the ladder to grab the
crystal from the chest you undoubtedly saw earlier. Now let's beat up the bad
guy.
25000 HP 15000 SP Family: Demon Strong: Wind Weak: Nothing
Lonely Death (Charging Darkness attack, medium dark dmg, silences)
Terra Captus (Charging Earth attack, medium earth dmg, slows)
Tornadeus (charging Wind attack, medium wind dmg, can slow)
The Defense Monolith is extremely similar to the guard monolith. It too cycles
through the above attacks, having to charge each of them to use them on the
next turn. You can easily take him down by regular attacks, and use your
skills to take him down even faster (Sword dance makes this fight a joke).
Before you take him out though, heal everyone up to full HP, as Sacrifice can
definitely kill you off.
When you win, you will be given 1500 xp 1500 gold.
Watch the following scenes as the team interacts with each other and soon
you'll be free to move about again.
==============================================================================
Cythere again and Arkal Skybase (BS27)
==============================================================================
--Bacter creeps back--
Ok so we did this and now there is another optional place for us to loot, and
goodness knows I love me some looting! We want to head east of Tradefair to
Cythere! It was locked before, but now it's open. Wipe out the Guardian
Troopers at the front gate and head to the west wing armory. Talk to the king
to get the king's key which opens the throne room on the second floor. Uh oh
is it really boss fight time again?!
Tornadeus (Medium wind dmg, can slow)
Flamma (Low fire dmg, can burn)
Phantom Slash (Multiple low dmg attacks, can confuse)
Poison Dart (Low dmg, can poison)
Ball Lightning (Low dmg)
Crush Wave (low dmg)
Ah, yet another easy boss fight. The only hang up your could have here is if
the Guardian guys kill one of your party with Diablos, so I recommend have a
couple of party members able to revive, just in case. After you kill the
Guardians, Kaar will be a breeze as nothing he has really poses a threat, so
kill him your own way.
After the battle you will gain 6720 XP 4720 Gold and a Kaar's Robe.
After the fight all the prisoners will be released. Than the villagers of
Polemaze and the king of Cythere will ally themselves with each other. The
king will thank you for your help, as Aurora decides to help herself to some
treasure. Well, trying to anyway. You'll have to come back here and use Vai to
open the chest for a Paragon ring, a nice treasure that gives you regen AND
sp-regen.
Check out the weapon shop and smith in the lower right corner of Cythere. Here
there are some new weapons for sale, so grab whatever makes you better. Now
talk to the blacksmith in the back. He'll take both of our lost left and right
blades to restore them, so let him. Now go outside and come back to get the
lost samurais, a nice weapon which gives criticals and can slay enemies
outright.
Well now we need to find a skyship that can get us to Bel Lenora. What better
place to check than the old Arkal Skybase? Let's head there now, its the small
orange dot on the southern part of the northern continent. Sail around the
lower east coast to get a good landing spot. Make sure to save before entering
the skybase, at this place can be glitch-y as my warning below states.
Here, walk a ways inside the base to run into an engineer, who tells you our
old friend Lukas is protecting a skyship when the monsters attacked. We need
to save that ship.. and, um, Lukas.. I guess. Head north and take the terrain
steps on the left. Head straight right from here to find Lukas. Here fight the
monsters to help Lukas
(Warning: I had my game freeze at this battle, so hopefully it works for you.
If not, well, you have that save right?).
After these first batch of petty monsters, Lukas will point out the boss for
us, leading right into the boss fight.
Power Drain (Weak dmg)
Glacius (Weak Ice dmg, may freeze in place)
Celes mistis (Weak dmg, may paralyze)
Aira Toxus (Weak dmg, may cause sleep)
Terra Captus (Medium earth dmg, Horror Leg dying attack)
Curo Fira (Heals itself)
Ram Force (Horror Hand's counter attack)
Arch Fira (Medium fire dmg, Horror Hand dying attack)
This fight isn't that bad, to be honest, just bring along a healer to heal
every now and again (Isa's party healing is a good choice) and use your most
powerful skills to take this thing down. Concentrate on the hand and the leg
first, as you can probably knock each of them out in a round or two, making
the fight that much easier.
You'll be given 2000 XP and 1000 Gold once you defeat the horror.
Yes, now we will have Luka on our side to repair us a skyship. Sweet!
And now Bacter will give you some quick notes about a couple of optional areas
we can hit up:
==============================================================================
Freedom! More optional side quests! (BS28)
==============================================================================
Optional: Ice Caves (located at NE corner of world, accessible with airship).
No boss here
--Bacter's Notes: The real reason to head to the ice caves is to grab Nym's
ultimate weapon, the Godwrath. You can find it if you take the left path to
begin with, and take the long route--
Optional: Bel Lenora
--Bacter's Notes: What you want to do here is help the soldiers take on the
ghouls. The fights aren't hard and you can explore the town now. There are
some folks to talk to, and some items to find. If you got the key from the
Polemze temple you can unlock the ancient chest for a mushroom ring, and
finish up the armor-making quest at the inventors. Also note that you can now
get to the palace's teleports. They have some decent loot, but the one you're
looking for is the middle transport. It'll be the ruins. Head to the north and
left side of the area, east of the statue there's a hidden stairs down. Take
it, and right before the blank altar there's a hidden passage to the left.
Here you'll fight
Dread skull is utterly unremarkable. Basically pay attention and keep your
health up and you'll be fine.
You get some awesome items for beating him!
==Spirit Temple==
This couldn't be easier. Go look at the crystal and the priest gives it to
you. It gives you GREAT SP augmentation
==Air Megaera==
This place is the easternmost dot (orange) on the map. This is kind of Nephi's
time to shine. He takes off with Aurora and Nym. The rest of you kind of wait
for awhile, then head into town. The shops are frankly underwhelming here, so
you might just head to the palace and get shot down. Once that happens head
back to town for some scenes, rest up at the inn, and head back to the palace
for some fightin'. Reach Nephi's room and rejoin him, and then it's time for a
BOSS BATTLE!
-----------------
Boss: Dragon Rhys
-----------------
Dragon Rhys HP: 30000 EXP: 4000 GP: 4000 STRONG: Wind, Energy
This guy is tough mostly because of his regen abilities. You'll want to keep
hammering away at him because the regen subsides eventually. Stay away from
him to avoid his painful terrible roar, double team at every chance. This
isn't a cakewalk boss but it's no big deal.
Collect the Sunray and Moonorb
After you finish this battle you can return to Firebeard's Tomb and talk to
the parrot. Give him Rhys Dragon Essence to have Nym and Nephi learn their
final combo.
==Zodiat Monastery==
This place is landlocked in the northwest. You can only get to it with the
airship. While there is some decent looting (all in chests and obvious) in
here, the real prize is the summon Chronos. Go up the central staircase on the
first floor to see a platform with two shelves. Look at the left one to find a
button, which you can press to open a secret room. Go in to get the summon.
==Curse Bringer's Tower==
You must have Kairu and Aurora in your party, the third member is up to you.
Make SURE you teleport to the basement to get Vai's monarch weapon. From the
1F take the following teleports
1F: Left
2F: Top
3F: Right
*save*
4F: Bottom
5F: Top
You'll arrive at the top and have to save the Duke!
------------
Boss: Master
------------
Master: HP: 23000 EXP: 3400 GP: 3400
This guy is kind of a jerk. He has two curse bringers with him who are tough
enough alone, so take them out first. Stay away from him, keep the pressure on
with combos, he'll fall soon enough.
When he does, he'll crumple and everybody'll head back to Avery mansion. This
starts the "Duke's Slumber" side quest.
==============================================================================
The point of no return: Dimensional Flux (BS29)
==============================================================================
==Dimensional Flux==
To get here, go through the cursed caves. There are a few warps out, but in
general this is the "final dungeon get all your affairs in order" place.
Climb up the vine and inspect the sparkle... oops!
Another not-so-challenging fight, the wall monster just has a bit of HP to get
through. Berserk will cause you to loose control of a party member, of course,
and Hex can further take a party member out of the fight but I've found that
the wall monster usually casts these spells on the same target. Berserk isn't
necessarily a bad thing on a melee fighter, as I've found as long as you use
your best skills as soon as you can you can easily win with two party members
and no need for healing. If you are having trouble for whatever reason, either
throw in another healer and play conservatively or bring in your heavy hitters
and plow through the beast.
You'll gain 3000 XP and 3000 Gold when your done.
Head through the new door here. Climb up the north vine and go through the
door on the right to get a chest with a STR potion inside.
Head back out and go to the left path, skipping the northern door. Here climb
up vines and you'll have three choices on where to go: left, right, and north.
First go to the door to the south (it's really more right and than south) and
than use the pods as teleporters to grab the drakus potion in chest.
Head back and go to the door on the left. Here head south down the stairs and
the vines and exit the southern door. Here take the left door and go north to
find a SPD potion.
Now finally head back and take the northern door. Climb the vines and go
through the next door. Take the winding path here
In this room, first head AROUND the structure on your right using the path and
walk down into a hidden door to grab a STA potion.
Now see that spiral thing in the middle of the room? Go ahead and try pressing
A at the south end of it. A door to your north should open. In here you'll
find Kipher in his Dragon form, and he'll immediately attack you.
------------------
Boss: Magna Kipher
------------------
Magna Kipher: 29000 HP 5000 SP Family: Beast Strong: Nothing Weak: Nothing
Blade of Shadows (Poisons and Paralyzes)
Dragon's Breath (Medium dark dmg, may poison)
Triple Breath (3x Dragon's Breath, he announces "Are you ready to die?")
Well, Kipher isn't too hard, although I would recommend bringing someone along
you can cure paralysis, as that can be annoying. His dragon's breath attack
doesn't take off a huge amount of hp (around 80-100), and you can easily heal
between attacks (Again, Isa's Curo Aira is perfect). Triple Breath is the one
thing that may catch you off guard, but since he announces it before he does
it, there's no reason not to be fully healed. Other than that, just spam your
most powerful attacks to be guaranteed victory.
You gain 5000 XP and 5000 Gold after the fight as well as a Sphere of Ages (A
nice weapon for Nephi which dramatically ups evasion percentages).
Lets head back to the previous room and take the southern door now. Navigate
your way to the east while grabbing the ice bomb from the chest and taking the
southern door. In here you can easily get from the floor level to the webbing
stuff above, and you can find a moon orb from the chest on your right, just
take the lower level to the lower right corner of the room than go higher to
get to it.
Now head back down and get on the higher level again to go through the door on
the west side of the room. Now head west to the vine and climb down to the
southern door. In this room go west until you can go through the south door to
the save point. From here the path splits, so the party will split up. Choose
who you want on Kairu's team but make sure to leave some punch and healing for
the other team.
Arch Fira (Medium fire dmg, can burn)
Frostbite (Weak icd dmg)
Nox Ico (Weak dmg)
Touch of the Tomb (weak dmg, can freeze in place)
Nox Debilitas (weakens party members in area)
Diablos (Weak dmg, may kill party member)
Cerebus, like most bosses we face, isn't too hard. The only thing to watch out
for is Diablos, so bring along a couple characters who can revive and sped out
a bit. His other attacks are too easy to recover from, so hit this thing until
it falls.
You'll gain 600 xp and 600 gold after the fight. What a gip!
Now you're in control of the second party, so head south to the big room.
Head right and grab the southern chest for a MND potion. Keep going right.
Left door:
This door takes you back to the teleporter room, so use the teleporter to
continue. Here grab the Lucivar herb and use either teleporter, than head
west. Keep going through these teleporters until you can hit the weird looking
switch thingy at the very north part of the room to drain the liquid away. Now
you can head down the stairs. Grab the black silk robe from the chest in the
south while your at it.
Make your way to the northeast portion of this room and go through the door to
continue. Keep going north through the door and north through the next door.
Finally, heal up and head to the monster guy.
Arch Fira (Medium fire dmg, can burn)
Frostbite (Weak icd dmg)
Nox Ico (Weak dmg)
Touch of the Tomb (weak dmg, can freeze in place)
Nox Debilitas (weakens party members in area)
Diablos (Weak dmg, may kill party member)
Before the final stretch, you can take on the red boss at the north end of the
paths if you want.
Flame Punch (Weak dmg)
Flamma Orbis (Weak fire dmg, area surrounding him)
Diabolus (Weak dmg, may kill party member)
Fira Domintrus (Weak fire dmg, can cause burn)
Infernalia isn't too hard, as most of his attacks cause hardly any damage. The
only thing to watch out for, again, is Diabolus, so bring some people who can
revive just in case. Than use your best attacks to take him out.
You'll gain 3500 XP and 4500 Gold as well as the sword Fallen after the fight.
Ok, now lets head to where the parties joined again and head north to the save
point. As a note, you may want to build your final party here. For the record,
I'm using Kairu (An all-around good party member), Rogurd (Who is my major dmg
party member, he can do 5000+ dmg a hit), and Isa (For the healing. I put the
Cryptic signet on her as well). From here head north into a small room. See
the pillar of light? Climb down it to enter a new area.
Here you'll be in the Inner Sanctum. Follow the path east, than south, than
west to another light hole. Climb down this one as well. Here climb up the
stairs and head to the right side to find a chest with Aurora's ultimate
weapon: Strings of Fate. Now head down the center staircase and continue down.
In this part, head right and down. To your left you can find a totem in a
chest. Continue right and south to find another hole to climb down. In this
area head west for a gem claw. Head back east and south down the stairs. In
the southeast corner grab the Onyx Wargear. From here head west to yet another
hole and climb down.
Here head east and north to a new area. In this new area you'll have to jump
from step to step, so when you can head east do so to find a sun orb in a
chest. Go back and head north, going up the stairs when you get to them. This
path leads to our main goal, the Forbidden. After some small talk, you'll have
to fight!
Well, this might be our first challenge in awhile. Bonecrush causes 300+
damage while Mindcrush charms an enemy. On top of that Flamebonds can paralyze
you. Well, now that you know what to look for, your much better prepared.
Whenever he uses Bonecrush, heal up with Curo Aira right away. Charm WILL die
off by itself, but if you have two party members with charm OR paralysis heal
up at least one of them. Keep hacking away with your best skills (Go Rogurd
and Axe Rush!) and you'll take him down. That wasn't too hard, was it?
You'll gain 1808 XP and 1809 Gold after the fight.
More small talk. Wow, now the Forbidden looks very alien-like, huh? After the
party gets psyched up, run north through space until you hear a voice. Time
for the final boss.
Forbidden Shape: 16000 HP 10000 SP Family: Demon Strong: Water, Fire
Weak: Nothing
Forbidden Spine: 10000 HP 0 SP Family: ??? Strong: Holy, Dark Weak: Nothing
Curo Aira(Heals all party members, Forbidden Heart spams this) F. Heart
Death Sentence (Leaves target with 1 HP left) F. Shape
Merciless ( Missed on all party members) F. Shape
Collapse Universe (Med dmg to all party members) F. Shape
Spine Stinger (Low dmg) F. Spine
Grand Curse (Low dmg to all, random status ailments: blind, poison, burn,
slow)F. Shape
Ok, final boss time. Honestly, the boss was a lot easier than I expected. Your
FIRST order of business is to KILL OFF THE FORBIDDEN SHAPE. Seriously, only
attack the shape, using your strongest attacks you can muster to take it out.
At this point it shouldn't take you any more than 2 rounds to do. If you need
to spam Curo Aira yourself or any other healing that you need to. From here,
the battle is a ton easier (A TON), as the shape is primarily responsible for
the most damaging attacks. Now concentrate on the Heart, as if you kill off
the Forbidden Spine, both the Shape and the Spine will re-spawn. Spam your
most damaging attacks on the heart, as you have quite a bit of HP to get
through and the Heart keeps spamming Curo Aira. Eventually, the Shape will
RESPAWN, so take it out again like before. Keep this up and soon you'll have
the Heart dead as well.
From here taking out the Spine is easy as pie, so sit back and enjoy the
ending.
After the fight, the forbidden, in true villain fashion, will try to kill the
party as he dies. As the party runs, Kairu stops and states that he will
contain the villain while the party escapes. If you have Vai in the party, he
will offer himself (apparently if must be a "cursed one") as Isa and Kairu
have a life together (ah, he noticed that, huh?). Even after Vai offers, Doll
(if you have him) will step forth and say he will do it, and so the party will
escape.
The party will return to Telesphorus as they realize the forbidden is gone.
Nephi will comment that he will attempt to change his people's culture as it
is inherently evil, and refuses to let Aurora follow him. Like that's going to
stop her. The credits will than roll as you'll see Kairu and Isa staying
together and visiting Vai in Seremaze. Than you'll see Nephi challenging his
people. After that you'll also see Rogurd taking Nym as his adventuring buddy
and returning to Tradefair.
The End.
Congratulations on beating Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled!
A: Neither can I! The game has a script bug that doesn't give it to you when
it should!
Q: Is the game REALLY as glitchy as I've heard?
A: Yes, it can be quite bad! I just plain couldn't do the combat arena, for
example, while other people have reported freezing. There are no "game
breaking" glitches that I know of, but there sure are a lot of smaller
bugs. The game could have DEFINITELY used some polishing time.
Bel Lenora is a world where people are born with magic at their command. Years
ago, a single man walked the land with no magic in his veins. He brought death
and tragedy in his wake and was banished by a brave general at a great cost.
It has been fifteen years since his banishment and once again, a young man
with no magic walks the land of Bel Lenora. Join Kairu, a young knight, born
with a cursed spirit...
In the world of Bel Lenora, where everyone wields magic, Kairu, the adopted
son of Duke Averay, is the only man without magical powers. A cloud of
suspicion hangs over him, as others remember another magic-less man, Vai, the
General who betrayed Bel Lenora years ago in the war against the evil Curse
Bringers.
Despite the increasing frequency of monster attacks and the mistrust from
those around him, Kairu has lived a happy life in his adoptive family, with
the Duke's daughter Aurora at his side. But dark times are approaching, and
the people's fear is increasing....
Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled consists of three modes: Map Mode, Battle
Mode, and Menu Mode.
Map Mode:
In Map Mode, you can explore the world, talk to non-player characters (NPCs),
open treasure chests, and visit shops. You will also encounter enemies, which
you will fight in Battle Mode.
Use the control pad to move your character around while in map mode. You can
move faster by pressing the B button. You can also move by touching the
direction in which you want to move on the touch screen. Touching the screen
close to your character will make him walk in that direction, while touching
the screen far from the character will make him run in that direction.
To interact with NPCs and other items in your environment, such as furniture,
stepping stones and so forth, press the A button or tap the relevant object on
the touch screen. Note that you must be close to a NPC or object to interact
with it. Also, you can change the leader of your party by pressing the L
button. Some NPCs will react differently to various leaders.
In battle mode, you will fight against the many enemies impeding your
progress. Defeating these enemies will yield experience points which increase
your power, gold to purchase new equipment, and items to help you in your
travels.
You will have to face many enemies on your journey. When encountering an
enemy, the game enters battle mode. In battle mode, your heroes (up to three
at any given time) face off against the enemies. The goal of the battle is to
reduce each enemy's HP to zero. If all your heroes are reduced to zero HP, the
game is over.
In battle mode, the top screen changes to a list of all heroes and enemies. If
an enemy or hero is affected by a positive or negative status effect, an icon
displaying which status will be displayed. Some status are not indicated by an
icon but by a symbol or glowing effect over the character on the touch screen.
At the bottom of the top screen is an information window. Various information
will be displayed there during battle.
Top Screen: List of heroes, list of enemies, information panel, status
ailments.
Touch Screen: Hero's statistics and timebar, heroes, monsters, ring menu, KO
hero.
The battle takes place on the touch screen.
At the top of the touch screen you will find the portraits, HP, SP, and time
bar for each of your heroes. The time bar fills up slowly as time passes. Once
the time bar is filled, you can input a command for the hero in the ring
menu.
To input a command, press and hold the control pad to select an option in the
ring menu, and press the A button to confirm your choice. You can also tap a
ring menu icon on the touch screen to select that option.
The options are:
Fight: attack with your equipped weapon.
Skill: use a skill or a spell (consumes SP)
Item: use an equipped item
Combo: use a combo skill (consumes SP)
Once you have selected your action, use the control pad and the a button to
select a target or double tap the touch screen on a valed targeting icon to
target it. note that (game manual says "than" here which I believe is a typo)
if the battle style (in the option menu in menu mode) is set to no wait,
enemies may still attack you while you're selecting your target. If you put
the battle style to wait, enemies will not attack while you select a target.
At any time you can press the b button or tap the touch screen outside of the
ring menu or targeting icons to cancel your previous selection.
In the main ring menu, you can also press and hold the R button to move your
character manually using the control pad. If you do so, once you are finished
moving, you will not be able to use the fight option this turn. You will
instead have access to the defend option, which reduces the damage you take
this turn. You can still use skills, combos, and items however. If you wish to
cancel your move, press the B button.
If you have more than one character with a filled time bar, press the L button
to switch between characters.
If you select combo or skill, press the R button to go to your second page of
skill or combos.
Skills are non magical abilities preformed by a single character. A character
with injured status cannot perform a skill.
Spells are magical abilities performed by a single character. A character with
mute status cannot cast a spell.
Each hero can learn up to a total of eight skills and spells.
Combos are special attacks performed by two characters at the same time.
Combos are more powerful but require that both characters have a full time
bar. Some combos are stopped if any of the characters has injured status,
others are stopped if nay of the characters have mute status. Skills, spells,
and combos take SP to perform. If you run out of SP, you will not be able to
perform them.
Spells are usually associated with an element. If an enemy is weak to a
spell's element, the spell's damage will be increased. If the enemy has
resistance against a spell's element, the damage may be reduced, negated, or
the monster may even be healed by the spell.
Skills, spells and combos also have variable area of effects. some only affect
a single target, others affect all targets on the screen. finally, many affect
only part of the screen, for instance a circle around the target. Experiment
with your spells to find which one is best suited for any given situation.
Menu Mode:
Menu mode is where you manage your party of characters. At the top of the
touch screen are several icons. Select he desired icon by using the control
pad and pressing the A button, or by tapping the touch screen, than, if
necessary, select the character you wish to perform the selected action on by
using control pad and pressing the a button, or by tapping the touch screen.
To cancel a selection or to return to map mode, press the B button. The menu
mode is where you manage your party, equipping them with new weapons and
armors, items and spells. you can also change the game configuration and save
your game in menu mode.
The top screen shows name of location, party, monsters appraised, world map,
active party, and gold.
the touch screen will display the party leader, npcs and the items in your
treasure chest.
To enter menu mode, press the X button or tap your character on the touch
screen. Remember to talk to everyone and explore everywhere. You never know
when you may obtain an important clue or useful item.
Item Menu:
The item menu allows you to use items outside of battle, and to obtain
information on the various items and equipment pieces you have found.
In the item menu, you can access several lists of items: Usable items,
weapons, armors, helmets, armlets, and accessories. In the list of usable
items, the items in white can be used outside of battle. Some specific items
(Scarecrow and Totem) can only be used on the world map or at a save point.
Selecting any item in one of the other submenus will bring up a page detailing
the specific characteristics of the item.
Skills:
This page of the menu lists all skills, spells and combos learned by your
characters. You can also use healing abilities from this menu. Use the R
button and L button to switch from each wheel menu.
Equipment:
The equipment menu is where you an equip new weapons, armors, and accessories
to your hero, as well as usable items. Each hero can equip one type of weapon,
separated in several subtypes. Depending on their abilities, they can equip a
variety of armors, helmets, and armlets. Finally, all heroes can equip all
accessories.
Each hero can also equip up to four different usable item types. Only one
character can equip any single item type for instance, you can only have one
character equipped with Blue Herbs at a time. To equip an item, simply select
the item you wish to equip and set it to a slot of the item ring menu.
Note that if you have an item type equipped, you can use several such items
during the course of battle. For instance, in any give battle you can use up
to 6 Blue Herbs... if you have them in your inventory that is.
Items are automatically unequipped from a character if that character leaves
the party. Remember to always visit the Equipment screen when a new member
joins your party, to optimize their equipment.
Status:
This page shows the various statistics of each character as well as their
equipped items, armor, weapons, and the corresponding elemental resistances.
Swap Characters:
This option allows you to change the position of the characters in your active
party or swap characters in and out of your active party (if you have more
than three total characters). You can only swap characters in towns, on the
world map or at save points.
Options:
This page allows you to change some settings for the game.
Save/Load:
This page allows you to save your game. You can make a regular save on the
world map or at any save point. In addition, you can use this menu to load a
previous save.
If you must leave the game in a hurry, select the quick save option. This will
save your game regardless of your location, and return you to the main menu.
When you load the quick-saved game, you will not have lost any progress.
However, it is best to keep a regular save game as well, as this will allow
you to backtrack should you get stuck.
Stores:
You will find many shops and stores during your travel. To enter the shop
menu, talk to the shopkeeper.
Item in a given category available for purchase/sale
Cost in gold pieces
Number of items of that type equipped
Number of items of that type owned
In the shop menu, you must first select whether to buy or sell equipment or
item, using control pad and the A button to confirm your choice. To exit,
press the B button.
Once you have selected which action to take, use the control pad to select
items, weapons, armor, helmets, armlets or accessories.
Finally, use the control pad to select which item to buy or sell. A
description of the effect of each item appears below this shop window. At all
times, press B to cancel and to return to the previous menu.
Inns:
You will find an Inn in every city. Resting at an Inn will restore your heroes
Hit Points and Skill Points. Innkeepers are highly accommodating: if you don't
have enough money to pay for a room, they will let you stay for whatever
amount of money you have at that time.
Status Ailments:
Status ailments are effects which positively or negatively affect your
characters. The more common negative status ailments are:
Slow (Picture of SPD bar ) Act less often.
Paralyzed (Picture of two wiggly lines ) Cannot act until paralysis wears off.
Freeze (Picture of Ice ) Cannot move, but can still act.
Burn (Picture of Fire ) Suffer damage over time.
Confusion (Picture of a question mark ) Attack enemy and friends alike.

Character Bios:
Kairu:
Kairu is an orphan, a young man whose parents died in the Cursed War which
shook Bel Lenora twenty years ago.
He was adopted after the war by Duke Averay, who raised him as his son
alongside his true daughter, Aurora. Kairu and Aurora are best friends.
Unlike everyone else in Bel Lenora, Kairu does not possess magic. This makes
other Bel Lenorans fearful of him, as they are afraid he will bring war, as
the magic-less General Vai did twenty years ago.
Despite not having magic, Kairu is an excellent swordsman, the best of his
class at Duke Averay's school for knights. He is very strong and tough, and
can use most armors.
Aurora:
Aurora is the true daughter of Duke Averay. She is very hot-headed and
sometimes acts without thinking first. Although Kairu is more prudent and
level-headed, they are best friends and have had many adventures together,
usually at Aurora's instigation.
A powerful wizard, she wields the element of fire as her main weapon, using it
to fry her enemies and heal her allies. She also wields a whip which, although
weak, can strike enemies from a distance.
Aurora isn't built for wearing armor, so she has to stick to lighter clothes
and magical protection. Besides, armor is not very fashionable!
Nephi:
A mysterious but very knowledgeable gentleman who travels the world. One of
the few users of Dark Magic, Nephi is especially talented at cursing his
enemies with debilitating status ailments. Nephi prefers to keep his distance
from enemies and so attacks with throwing darts, knives, and balls.
Isa:
A young woman, Commander of a foreign army. She wields her dual blades with
near unmatchable skill and speed, and uses Wind magic to attack her enemies
and heal her friends. Isa is hard to approach, and doesn't give her trust or
friendship easily.
Rogurd:
A nearly-legendary adventurer, spectacularly (manual misspells spectacularly)
strong and quite smart. Rogurd travels the world in search of IT, the prize
that all treasure hunters seek to attain. Rogurd wields gigantic battle-axes
and maces, and use (Should be uses) his numerous skills and knowledge to
defeat his enemies or run away, if needed.
Nym:
Nym is a young boy, with nearly-white eyes. Nym has lived all his life in the
jungle, and has learned to survive on his own, using only his ability to talk
to spirits and his hunting spear to survive. Nym only learns few skills, but
powerful spirits may lend him their powers if Nym can find them.
*Two secret playable characters will be revealed as the game progresses.

Bkstunt_31: I'd like to thank Lisa for putting up with me while I played
through this (and all other games for that matter). Also thanks to
Ametarasuokami for the Arkal Skybase uniform email.
This was also my FIRST faq ever... and it didn't go AWFULLY well, mostly due
to my inexperience coupled with the game's glitchy nature. I doubt this game
will ever get the re-write it needs to come up to my current standards, but
you never know...
If you want to use this document, please contact us FIRST, and as long as you
aren't planning to misuse it I'm sure it'll be okay. As BacterX eloquently
would say:
Because I find including copyrights on privately published online FAQS silly,
at least until people start paying me to do this, I will simply say that the
use of this document without crediting me will cause wights to haunt you.
Specifically, the copywights. They HATE people who steal stuff.
