I.     Introduction

This is a FAQ for the Atari 8-bit Computer game K-razy Shootout.  It contains
instructions on how to play, winning strategies, and a mini-review.

II.    Gameplay

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A.  Controls

Joystick       Aim/Move
Button         Fire
Ctrl + 1       Pause game (press button to unpause)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B.  Overview

The game consists of seven sectors.  Each sector is randomly generated, so no
two are ever the same.  EVERYTHING in a sector is a hazard: not only do you
have to avoid getting shot, but so much as touching a Droid, debris field, or
even a wall will cost you a life!

In the first sector the Droids are unarmed and relatively harmless, but from
the second sector on, they will shoot back.  Fortunately, you're packing heat
as well.  Your pistol has unlimited ammo, but is limited to a single shot at
a time.

To make the game even more challenging, there is a time limit.  The bar will
start out green then as it shrinks turn yellow then finally red.  If you don't
finish manage to destroy all the Droids and escape before the timer runs out,
you're game is over!

Once you've destroyed all the Droids in a sector, you will be allowed to exit
through one of the two openings.  Even though the exits are open from the
start of the level, don't think you can just slip out before your work is done.
There are two penalties for exiting early: first you will be sent back to the
PREVIOUS sector and have to do it over, secondly, you will NOT get Bonus points
for redoing a completed sector, even if you finish it while the timer is still
green!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C.  Strategies

-  Be careful when exiting a sector, it's WAY too easy to hit the wall and lose
  a life!

-  Try to stay in the center of the sector, Droids will materialize around the
perimeter and this will prevent a lot of unfair collisions.

-  A handy trick if you can pull it off is to get a Droid "stuck" in a corner.
That way you will only have to worry about two Droids at a time.

-  Your Space Commander will turn green when there are six Droids remaining.

-  Every 10,000 points scored earns you an extra life.

-  Points scabbing:  In the first level, kill a few Droids then exit.  You'll
re-enter Sector 1.  Kill a few more then exit again.  Repeat as long as you
want to rack up points and extra lives.

V.     Game Review

K-razy Shootout is a clone of the arcade classic Berserk.  The object of the
game is to guide your Space Commander through seven sectors, destroying any
enemy Droids you encounter.  The Droids start out easy, but as you progress
they not become faster, they shoot back!

On a personal level, K-razy Shootout has a special nostalgic meaning to me.  It
was the very first video game that I actually got to go to the store and pick
out for myself.  At the time I was so young I didn't even know how to read so I
chose it solely based on the cover art.  Luckily it turned out to be an
excellent choice, K-razy Shootout is a fun game that I recommend every fan of
the Atari 8-bit computers have in their collection.

Pros

+  Fun and fast paced!
+  Sectors are randomly generated, so no two games are exactly alike.

Cons

-  Controls take some getting used to.
-  Exiting a level can be VERY frustrating!
