Generally speaking, whenever I research a topic of interest, I
first look at what's the established definitions: the stuff we
learn in school basically. They teach it to us as Facts,
  Absolutes, ,Solved.

  But they're not.

So once I know the "accepted definitions", I try to find the
  borderlines.*

What's on the "other side" of the line? What is this thing being
  defined, NOT.

Once i figure out what it's supposed to NOT be, then I find the
borderline. What's happening at the line between "Is" and
  "isn't", between "true" and "false".*

For example there's the difference between Science and
Pseudo-Science. It all seems very clear when people bring up
  extreme examples.

But then, what about the "almosts"? There's Science that touches
its toes into Pseudo-Science, and there's Pseudo-Science that
  touches its toes into Science.

I find that borderline stuff fascinating. They're messy,
awkward, strange, uncertain and never dull.
