We do the same thing already.
  Mailing lists.
  Advertisers.
  Information goes to companies.
  Corporate data.
  Same thing as China is doing.
  Been around a while.
  Thing is, being online is not a requirement.
  Never was.
  Also, whoever runs the BBS / forum / social network / whatever
  it is, owns your data and everything you put on there.
  It's not a human right when you sign up to a service to have
  privacy.
  It's a tradeoff.
