## 24 Heating
The main fact of this week is Heat, Heat, Heat ! More than 35°c last week and more than 39°c this week, where I live. It was more than 10°c higher than normally....Normally ? What is normal nowadays ? With what we did to the planet, nothing is normal and the goals for climate are not +1,5 or 2 degrees. It will be more and the heat in june is going to be same each year. Summer will begin in may, now.
As you can expect, I don't like Heat...I'm not Iceman anymore but waterman. I could live under a shower or in a bath. But if the growing of temperature is not so fast, my body can still work. My problem is that my work needs only 20 to 21°c as in every metrology lab. Imagine if I go out of the lab to the outside : a gap of 20°c....I'm feeling like an egg on a fry pan. But in my street, there are workers under the sun to rebuild the road a do a new tarmac. Noise, vibrations is not enough...Now it's an infernal heat in the afternoon. I'm very lucky to work in a fresh environment.
And I'm not in the worst conditions on this planet. If 35°c seems awful in a city, there are cities in the world with more than 45°c during summer. Pakistan and India are burning each year, like Australia. You can't even imagine what it can be in some african big countries or in south-eastern Europe. Some of the social housing buildings have been renovated to improve insulation. During the SARS-CoV2 crisis and the summer, it was awful to keep people overcrowded inside. Now there will be trees everywhere around, a double layer insulation. That's not enough but that's a little better. I was in Paris for a day and I saw some homeless people in the tunnels or under the bridge. Some were trying to take a shower with a jerican of water. There are often more death during summer than during winter.
And that's the same for our animal friends. My cats are no more desert animals...They are trying to keep their body as cool as possible, staying on the tiling or in the coldest room of the house. It should be the same for the horses in many of the equestrian clubs around my city. I don't have many cows around me but that's also a big issue to keep them cool. In the same time, we spend a lot of energy to keep all our datacenters as cold as possible. I remember 25 years ago, when I worked in a IT department, it was like a paradise to work in the servers room. A small room for a big R&D center .... Now, it's not enough with everything in the cloud. Global warming is also a danger for nuclear plants, more and more difficult to refresh.
I also saw documentaries on the growing of water temperature in oceans and seas. Everything is changing with that : Weather, species, streams...We are not able to modelize a weather for more than 3 days...Who could imagine what can happen with all the heating, the global warming impact. We will survive...or the richer and more powerful will survive. And look what is going on in Gaza like a metaphore of what Humans can do to weaker humans. This heating is without doubt our fault. It's a consequence of 2 centuries of looting. I'm trying to do my best to minimize thant but sometimes I'm sad, regarding what Trump or Macron are doing for that...
