Polonia planea cerrar últimos cruces fronterizos con Bielorrusia mientras crisis migratoria continúa [1]

La tarde del 22 de junio, el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Polonia, Radoslaw Sikorski, anunció que las autoridades están considerando cerrar dos cruces fronterizos con Bielorrusia, publicó el medio independiente bielorruso Belsat. “Teniendo en cuenta las acciones de Bielorrusia, estamos considerando cerrar todos los cruces fronterizos”, dijo Sikorski, según informó Business Insider.
De acuerdo a Sikorski, el Gobierno está decidiendo actualmente “si continuar así es perjudicial para la economía”. “Cuando los finlandeses cerraron los pasos fronterizos con Rusia se acabaron los problemas”, agregó el ministro. No dio más detalles.
Tal como informó DW, a finales de 2023, unos 1300 inmigrantes llegaron a los puestos de control fronterizo de Finlandia con Rusia. En respuesta, el país cerró indefinidamente toda su frontera con Rusia en abril de 2024.
El doctor Stephen Phillips del Instituto de Derechos Humanos de Abo Akademi, Finlandia, escribió en un correo electrónico a Global Voices:
I've been following the developments on the Poland–Belarus border. On that border we are seeing now a clear clash between ideas of security and asylum, with the security voices by far the louder. When this security driven approach dominates there is a very real risk that safety of migrants and international law becomes less of a focus, or is sidelined entirely. Like in Finland, the talk in Poland is of instrumentalized migration driven by a hostile foreign state, not of the humanitarian needs of those on the move. This sets a potentially dangerous path away from protection and respect for fundamental rights
