An estimated 9 million Americans live abroad. Of those, 1.6 million live in Mexico. Most of them still have family and friends in the US, whose future they care about. They want a democratic and free America. And they vote. Many of these concerned ex-pats turned out for pro-democracy rallies in various communities throughout America’s southern neighbor. One of these “No Kings” events took place in Mérida, Yucatán.
I was there. It was powerful. And the message was clear.
(Thanks to Hennessy’s Irish Pub for providing the space. If you find yourself in Mérida, be sure to stop by. Enjoy the food, drink, and ambiance, and say hello to the owner, Sean Hennessy, and his partner, Colm.)
We can win this thing.
