Jasmine Crockett wants to lead the House Oversight Committee [1]

She was on Alex Witt Reports on Sunday and said in the wake of Rep. Gerry Connolly's passing, after giving condolences and saying she would be at his funeral on Tuesday, that she wants to lead the Democratic side of the House Oversight Committee. At the end of the interview she praised God and said he was on her side through all the death threats she gets, and expected them to get worse.

Before that, Alex played a clip of Trump at West Point rambling on about things that he had no business saying there.

"He literally sounds like somebody who has broken out of the insane asylum. Like, he be all over the place. Give him some ADHD medicine. If nothing else, because I don't know where he's ever going to go. I don't think that those who have gone through West Point expect to have their Commander in Chief address them and start talking about trophy wives, or start talking about how he has so many investigations. What a great reminder that you are not qualified to be be the person who potentially will be commanding us as troops to go into war. That is not inspiring confidence whatsoever....We as a country deserve better...The world deserves better... it's time for the Republicans to start calling him out and start questioning his mental acuity..."

Before that, Alex asked what Jasmine thought about DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's trip to Israel and if maybe it was meant to smooth over fractured relations, or about the two Israelis shot in Washington, or Israel upset about Trump wanting to negotiate with Iran.

"... I have found a lack of sanity from this administration. I have found them to be more decisive when it comes to be making sure that they've got a good photo op...As far as I'm concerned I doubt that there is anything of substance that she is over there to deal with....Is that a good photo op? And I think that's probably all Kristi Noem is good for is a photo op." She has said what all non-faux media has said about the dog-killer. Too bad we don't have that picture.

"As we take the House, which I fully anticipate we are going to do, and we will work hard to help our Senate colleagues as well. As somebody who serves on the oversight committee and hopes to lead the oversight committee....We will do oversight, and we will investigate whether this president himself has violated the emoluments clause... We will look into all these business deals that they have going on. I need to look at it this way, they were going after Hunter because he sat on a board. Think about how much money they are raking in. We're talking about the next golf resort they're setting up in Qatar, or talking about them leveling Gaza as they've talked about how it would be great beachfront property, whether we're talking about this crypto scam... There is no shortage of things that we can dig into and determine whether or not there have been violations of the law, but definitely violations of our constitution as a whole."

"There will have to be an election to see who leads the oversight committee. Ultimately I'm hoping and praying that my colleagues, that I can provide what we need as a team. To make sure that we can move forward and instill some confidence in the American people by knowing that they have a real fighter who will not back down, even in the face of all the threats I will have waged at me because Lord knows, I have death threats waged me every day. I will fight fearlessly and ferociously for the American people."

Yes, she will.
