Metacognition Fail? Andrea Mitchell Interviews Nancy Pelosi Over Fallout With Joe And Jill Biden. [1]

Does anyone else see a basic problem with this interview and the people involved and the subject matter raised? I know I have serious issues with this. For starters, I thought that Andrea “Has Phoned My Interviews In For Years Now” Mitchell was retiring? I guess I was wrong on that score. But most people I have heard from on Daily Kos seem to agree that Andrea Mitchell is a great example of the useless legacy media. She’s way past her prime, and most subjects just run her over during an interview.
And Mitchell wants to talk about the rift that has formed between Nancy Pelosi and the Biden’s over Pelosi’s push to get Joe Biden out of the 2024 Presidential race. Seems Jill Biden went on the record to say that she was “disappointed” with Nancy Pelosi and hasn’t talked with her since Pelosi lead the charge to force Biden out of the race.
I admit that I didn’t like what happened to Joe Biden, but Joe still believes he would have won if he stayed in the race, even though the presidency took it’s told on him. Let’s be honest folks. The presidency is stressful and ages even the best of men. The legacy media was deadset against Joe Biden and continually brought up his age, and Biden’s disastrous debate performance only reinforced that media narrative.
The legacy media’s preoccupation with Biden’s age left Trump off the hook, and every idiot in America blamed Joe Biden for the fucking price of eggs and every other cost of living rise. It didn’t help that the legacy media allowed Trump to blatantly lie to the dimwitted American public about LOWERING grocery prices, which never happens. The fools believed that they would get a change with Donald Trump and lower prices were on their way.
But getting a younger more energetic candidate didn’t secure us a win because Harris got tarred with the distorted record of Joe Biden’s presidency. And she was a mixed race woman, so racism and sexism goes a long way in elections still. But it was those price of eggs you know!
So as much as I like Joe Biden, I do not believe he would have won if he stayed in the race.
Do I have an issue with Jill Biden defending her husband? No. She’s supposed to do that.
I have an issue with the very elderly Nancy Pelosi being interviewed by the elderly Andrea Mitchell over another elderly stubborn man who in their own way are literally fighting the last war with no clue about the deadly present or future.
Yes, I’m still pissed off that Pelosi decided to block AOC from being the minority chair of the Government Oversight Committe. Pelosi talks a good game about American children, but how about letting some of the younger Democratic House members have leadership positions? Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi did not adapt to the modern media markets and social media platforms. And I know for a fact that Schumer was going to roll over for all Trump’s nominees until progressive raised hell.
Who’s raising hell about Trump in Congress? The younger people like AOC and Crockett. It’s other Senate Democrats who are raising a stink about Trump and Musk. Schumer just holds a press conference for the legacy media. Pelosi goes on Andrea Mitchell’s show to talk about the Biden’s.
I know some may accuse me of ageism, but most older people can get set in their ways. I’m 61 years old, and I know that some of my thinking on several subjects is “old fashioned.” It’s hard to change at any time, and your less likely to accept changes as you get older.
Believe it or not Joe Biden showed an ability for change and adaptability. He did embrace and push a very progressive agenda. The Joe Biden I knew in the 90’s wouldn’t have done that at all. That Biden was a happy camper with the neoliberalism of that time, as were many other Democrats.
Shit, Bill Clinton still clings to and defends his neoliberal policies like NAFTA to this very day, even though there a huge problems with free trade.
But Joe Biden couldn’t change some of his other attitudes and mindsets. He was an institutionalist when we needed desperate reforms and changes to our political institutions. And like all other Democrats, he kept thinking that he would get a fair shake from the legacy media, and he didn’t really need to trumpet his achievements on a daily basis. The “informed” American public would see all that he did and reward him for that.
And that is my point with today’s screed.
THIS IS A HUGE METACOGNITION FAIL FOR OUR SENIOR LEADERSHIP IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
